Game 33 - The Pools (H)

Team: Hartlepool United

Date: 12/04/16

Where: Meadow Lane

What line-up should Mark Cooper opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

Have your say below, join in with the Pride of Nottingham match discussion.

.

Think for once we can go with some real confidence, Cooper could turn around our fortunes again Hartlepool - we very rarely manage a good result against 'em.

A field where dreams become reality.

This should be another 3 points if recent performances are to go by.

It would be good for all if we could make it 2 in 2. Hartlepool will come to either attack or park the bus, much will be said by if they fear Mark Coopers Notts County or not. If they do, I expect a game like today.

I'm sure Hartlepool will come to attack, as they have picked up recently and this will hopefully suit us, as their defence isn't great.

I will be there this week, so in true curse of Foz style, I'm going for a 2-2 draw, with Loach saving a penalty.

They won 5-2 today against Morecambe so they will be confident, we just have to play our game and I'm sure we will be fine, even Fullerton beat Hartlepool

Should be a good game tomorrow night. Sounds like we've improved a ot in the last 3 games and its great to hear the atmosphere back at the lane. Here's hoping we can get another win tomorrow night and go into Saturday's derby with momentum and confidence. Getting the train up on Friday and staying with a friend overnight for the game, hoping its worth it unlike in August!

The thing is, as I said last time - if we let them play, they'll do well.

Their midfield is packed with hard workers and they have good options up top, a fairly decent keeper but they have a woeful defence and if pressured directly they do buckle. For Notts, it's all about keeping hold of the ball and bombarding their penalty box. Crosses can be key, as may high balls through the middle. McLeod (if played) could find time and his confidence back because someone like him could make their CB's nervous.

I think all he needs is confidence, I spoke to a Plymouth fan a few weeks ago who said he was really glad Izale didn't play against them, he does have quality in there and he's proven it throughout his career, its just getting the best out of him

Edit: I've seen Izale make some great runs in the last few matches but never passed the ball, if we tell Stanley or Burke (someone who can actually pass) to look for Izale I'm sure he would thrive like Vardy does

I'd also tell Noble to keep as far away from free-kicks and corners as possible, let Stanley or steady take them and actually create opportunities from set pieces

We look more organized which is always going to help.

Provided we work at it, we should win Hartlepool.

Get in Notts! Thoroughly enjoying this match, much better atmosphere and standard than you would think for bottom third of the table!

Shocking. Cooper out. A 1 goal win against a bunch of monkey hangers just isn't good enough. Time for Guy Branston to sort this lot out.

See what happens when I don't take my meds.....

We played really well tonight and were the better side throughout, Montel Gibson still looks raw but he got himself about abit, we could have had a few goals tonight as I think everyone played their part! I would stick with the same starting XI for Mansfield!

Decent game, and not the usual end of season stuff where points aren't that vital to either side.  We just about deserved it and the goal was quality - great ball from Noble, good composure from Hewitt who looked up and picked out Stead, who finished with aplomb.  Good stuff from the back four, but we looked distinctly lightweight in midfield.  Several times Hartlepool just strolled through the middle with barely a challenge and a better final ball would have seen us in trouble, but Eddie and Hollis stood firm.  At least we can go to Mansfield with a bit of hope.

What right do you have to tell me I'm wrong?  You're not my Granddaughter.

Great atmosphere at the Lane, I hope it came across on the radio and it gets more going for the next home game. If you want to know what Notts' performance was like listen to Mark Cooper's post match interview, he tells it like it is.

Just back. A team greater than the sum of its parts. As Elite highlighted, midfield was too  soft at times, Atkinson was exhausted at 80 minutes. Audel has made Left Back position his own. Some atrocious final balls from Campbell and Hollis's lack of confidence on the ball might well prevent him getting a new contract if Cooper reverts to a back 3. Hewitt good going forward but defensively suspect again.

A word of mention for the Pool's #33, Luke James...lively in the Rodgers mould, and maybe like Rodgers looks skilful but without a forwards shot on him

If you learn something from every game, there shall come a point in time, when you should never lose... Jimmy Sirrel
