Posted September 11, 20168 yr #1 I'm learning and seeing that the Football League plan to tackle live broadcasting. There's been a lot of 'hype' over going live on social media and people are now broadcasting moments of the game, much like the older generation did for YouTube which ultimately got tackled. The likes of Keith's 'ShakeyProductions' and of course 'NottsCountyVideos' which was ran by Josh - all things which gave the fans a chance to see things, yet was pulled down due to 'copyright infringements'. What do you make of this? Do you think the Football League are over censoring fans? Right call? Does it actually protect their copyright? For me it's more excuses as to try and do what the cooperation's that sponsor the FA/Football League want. Yet people will always watch the highlights in clear HD, plus its more social thing. One of my major pet hates about football is the fact that its taken from us fans. Thoughts?
September 11, 20168 yr #2 I've never liked the copyright rules to do with football, at the end of the day its the peoples game, its just a bit sad that videos get taken down, even if they record a penalty it gets taken down, which is why Shakey has moved to putting them on twitter where they can't be taken down. But there's not alot that can be done about it, those in power don't care about fans like us
September 12, 20168 yr Author #3 @ohstanleyaborah I wouldn't say can't, any site would have to bow to digital copyright claim but its a case of if the site bothers (quite risky if you ignore it). Twitter doesn't take much responsibility for many things, bullying, trolling, racism to illegally file sharing via the distribution of links (including streaming). Facebook on the other hand remove pages, delete videos and ban user profiles. That said, I agree - football copyright is a joke.
September 12, 20168 yr #4 It's self-defeating. Look up any band on YouTube and you'll see dozens of amateur videos of live performances. They're generally left up, though, as it's free publicity. Compare and contrast with the FL's approach. They're probably trying to protect their Player service. But it's nonsense - a bit of footage shot from the stands will never compete with professional highlights packages. Josh's site was excellent as it almost gave you a feeling you were there, not because it was a substitute for highlights.
