Betting Sponsors

The UK seems to have some real betting addictions, although Football doesn't seem to mind. I recall the fuss about Liverpool being sponsored by Carlsberg - as similar with other clubs like Blackburn who I believe dropped McEwans lager (if I didn't dream that). Now the betting world is quickly taking over, which is just odd from my point of view.

Everywhere is now advertising gambling sites, Sky Bet's purchased the rights to the Football League.

We now play in Sky Bet's League One!!

Is it just me or do you agree that the governing bodies should have more sense. I'm very aware that it's due to £££ but it's probably one of the worst names they could have dealt with.

Banking is different in my opinion, nobodies in danger of saving cash these days. People flocking in their drones to open savings accounts! "Hello Mr Banker, I'd like to trust you with my life savings".

Oh well, I just edited the old league image. I'm not quite keen on it's replacement tho (obvious huh?).

A field where dreams become reality.

Quite right ,Joe, all down to money Sponsorship at one time was just the local butcher or car dealer ,or similar ,getting a mention in the club programme for  a few quid 'Sometimes it would be a  brewery (Notts had  Mitchell's and Butler's and Derby had Offiler's) name painted on a stand roof and only visible from another stand.

In the late 60's Derby obtained a higher profile sponsorship from Saab the Swedish car manufacturers but other clubs objected to the Saab logo being on Derby Shirts claiming that it was unfair for Derby to get money this way.

I know  the Football league need to maximise revenue from sponsorship but betting,,like cigarettes, seems very irresponsible Then again ,how often does anyone run out and make a purchase just because they've just seen an advert on the telly?
