I just stumbled upon this classic radio commentary after watching this weeks Meet the Fans.

It sounds like a great game sadly out shadowed by silly fans. What I would do to see Notts in the top flight again though!

When myself and @Joe Jones interviewed Colin Slater, he spoke about this game.

He said that back then the BBC Nottingham Radio couldn't afford to send him to the match, yet it was one he hoped to make it - its quite fascinating but it does tell a scary tale of the 'ugly' game.

The veteran broadcaster also opens up about Jimmy Sirrell, undoubtedly the greatest Magpies manager of all time, and reminisces about an encounter he had with him following their 2-0 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in May 1981 – a result which saw Notts promoted to the old First Division

it sounds like a crazy game both for the fans attending and the players of both teams.
