Nice to be back! :D

Who do you all think will win the world cup? My votes on Holland as outside bet. Spain have good chances with the squad they have.

Good to see you Zom! I would normally say England but I know I'd be having a laugh, as we could do it but it's very unlikely. I think Brazil will need to step up a few gears, Argentina I doubt. Italy possibly, I'd personally say their most likely but I think it's between them, France and Brazil.

Fingers crossed England can make a good start against USA but I see them making us nervous.

hard one to call this.

sorry to say i dont think we stand a cat in hells chance.

ive always had a soft spot for the dutch myself.

but i think we could get an upset and a ranked outsider could win.

I'm not sure myself...

I certainly don't think England will win, as its been years since we last did lol.

We aren't exactly playing well are we.....

I'm not sure who will win, i just hope its not Germany lol.

Im hoping for Spain, as Im a huge Torres fan. It would be nice for England to do something but with David Beckham being injured, and some quality England players being left out of the line up, Such as David Dunn (Blackburn) It is unlikely we will do much, as per usual!

Wednesday is D-day.A MUST WIN match.Which England team will turn up?If we play as we did in most of the qualifying games we should win but what will be the reaction of the players after the 'events' of the last few days.I hope the team unite & put on a good show otherwise Wednesday will be a very sad day for ENGLISH football.

From what i've noticed in the past few games we have played very bad and lacking as a team. The last game especially...

To be honest i don't think we are going to make it through the group but i am hoping we do.

Hope we have a better team on the next match and play more as a team...

So the world cup is over.I personally think it was all a bit of a none event. So much hype about certain teams & players. What a let down. What happened to all the teams England were supposed to be frightened of.England only have themselves to blame for such a poor showing. If only we had played half decently we would be world champions, that's what I think of the standard.Brazil,Argentina,Italy,Germany & Holland were nowhere near the standard of their predecessors & what about France. In the 60's & 70's I looked forward to games involving Brazil,Holland etc but now it's a bore.At least we have the domestic season to look forward to with friendlies being played & transfer activity hotting up.

I would watch the world cup if Canada ever qualified. There are teams out there that are so much better than us.

You never know it could happen Jason, I remember thinking how nice it was when Australia first qualified and since they have the sports been pretty much embraced by them. I think I recall reading it's the fastest growing sport their and number 2 in national sports but aussie football. If you guys ever did make the final group stage, do you think it would have a good effect on the nation is terms of growth?

I always root for Jamaica, Costa Rica when they make it. (Tho Jamaica have fizzled out of the national scene)

Right guys, let's give this thread a bit of a defibrillator spark - four years later, how would you assess this World Cup using the great power of hindsight?
