Worst football winter you remember?

Recommended Posts

So we're about to head into March and any hopes of dreams of this winter finally being put to bed have been crushed with the arrival of the "Beast from the East" (curse you Ivan Drago)!

As a nation we're not exactly super-equipped for adverse weather and one of the ways this has manifested itself is with a spate of football games across the country being postponed.

Notts have been alright so far, none of our games have been postponed, but there have been loads called off in Scotland (including some in the Premiership) plus a couple in League One, League Two and non-league.

This has made me think - what's the toughest football winter you recall as a Notts fan?

1962/63- Rams played 22nd Dec 1962 and didn't play again until 23rd Feb  1963-my last year at school and I had a paper round, bloody freezing!

Yes I am old enough to remember 62/63 although not as old as @super_ram

We lived just off Meadow Lane, It was a very bad winter, I was 10 and had a new bike for Christmas it snowed Boxing Day and it was weeks before my dad would let me go out on it because of the snow and ice. I remember massive drifts of snow against our back door, no central heating, we didn’t even have an inside toilet.

Can’t remember anything about the football but I can’t imagine many matches were played.

A few seasons ago all we had was game cancellations, I recall writing an article asking when would we play next.

I don't recall the exact season though.
