England v Croatia

Featured Replies

No blame or faults for me, the players took us further than I hoped.

It's just a shame England couldn't have double the lead, but 3rd place on Saturday is possible.

I'm frustrated, downhearted but PROUD.

I can't single out faults with giving the lead away, yet Stones switching off shows his inexperience but you know what? They'll come back stronger and grow as a team. We need to start pushing players in to fix the lack of cover we have. The defence for me needs a lot of focus but it's almost there! The game was entertaining, I won't single out negative tactics (as I don't want to sound bitter).

We lost and I accept that, we should have sealed it when Lingard had his chance.

Well played lads and hard luck! Build for the euros now.

The pizza was one of the best things about the night, it was good watching it with you and your dad mate. Me and Jake loved it!

Wasteful finishing and lack of awareness cost England tonight, I am disappointed.

I know England are better than Croatia and I know they deserved to be in the final. They have re-united the fans and deserve to the praise for having done well, but lets accept that two areas saw this slip from further success.

It's the only way to improve.

In football someone wins and someone loses, today we lost but we’ve come a long way in a short time and the future is bright for our young team.

England played ****, after the opening goal from the free kick they put their feet up and sat on a 1-0 lead. No effort was made to push for a second and any chances that should have lead to more goals was wasted.

They switched off and started passing back to the Pickford, that's a sign a team is going to lose.

Absolute shambles.

Same here ... I’m hoping the new generation will do us proud

I think the pressure did get to them, Croatia looked knackered but still managed to put enough effort to get that second goal.

It wasn't that bad Anti Red.

The pressure must have gotten to them once Croatia conceded.

Give Croatia credit, they made England play it back and the game was good.

I know they time wasted but that's to be expected, I think better officials would have made a difference but the game did not favour England in the end. I'm not disappointed, I feel proud.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

Exactly what my self and @Chris said it’s heart breaking

Has anyone seen the nonsense about Croatia having had a player yellow carded twice and that they have been disqualified for it? What sad person spreads rumours like that? I do feel the second goal should have been disallowed due to the very high foot, which could have struck Kyle Walker but it counted.

I have to accept that.

I thought England played quite well but they missed someone in midfield that could have gotten them to move forward instead of back.

As the game progressed @GrannyPie pointed out to me that the players couldn't hear me when I kept shouting at the telly for our players to "Stop fannying about"They were dwelling on the ball too long ,then having to make hurried passes which often put players under pressure and ended with the ball  going back to Pickford. He in turn  then had to hurriedly hoof the ball up field .This, more often than not, resulted in Croatia regaining possession.Credit to the Croatians for  maintaining their tempo but I think our players could have had more protection from the ref.Harry Kane and many other players were cynically clattered many times.I just wish we had someone to put their foot on the ball and direct play forward. As others have said, this is a young team who can only get better especially if we can find  more cover and tighten up an already decent defence.,Oh and put away more of the chances we create.Roll on the Euros

I wasn't able to watch the game live, work got in the way but I listened to the game. It sounded edgy for both teams, with Croatia starting off slower.

England should have stayed on top of them and pushed for s second goal.

Kane and Lingard both missed sitters, so it's not like they couldn't have scored more or have won. Just typical England to fall short when it matters.

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.
