Strong footballing cities with rivalries

Which cities stand out for you because of their footballing heritage and long history of rivalries in the game?

So, less of the Manchester United vs Manchester City.

This one only exists due to the money pumped into City by their wealthy owner, Manchester City for me never had that fierce clash that the likes of Everton v Liverpool or, Sheffield Wednesday v Sheffield United has.

I am curious about what PON members have seen and which cities would be in their top 5 [purely based on football heritage and rivalry].Β

i would say my top 5 would be...

liverpool v everton

no bigger rivalry in my opinion exists in uk football

arsenal v tottenham

i could have said chelsea but i think spurs is the biggest of the two

nottingham forest v notts county

some might not, but when we have been in the same division it has always been quite fierce.

cardiff city v swansea city

i believe there is a lot of trouble in these games.

newcastle v sunderland

again always an eventful game when the two teams cross paths.

London is the biggest.

Arsenal - Spurs/Chelsea
West Ham - Millwall

Name any London club and they'll be competitive against another London team.

Bristol is one which stands out to me.

Bristol Rovers fans that I know absolutely hate Bristol City, Rovers are like us to some extent.

Liverpool v Everton is good one.
I believe Tranmere has a rivalry with Liverpool.

Can we class Notts v Mansfield? Both are Nottinghamshire clubs, despite Mansfield believing they're their own county. lol

5th I am honestly struggling with.
