FA Cup 4th Round Qualification: The Linnets (A)

Team: Kings Lynn

Date: 24/10/2020

Where: The Walks

What line-up should Neal Ardley opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

Have your say below, join in with the Pride of Nottingham match discussion.

You'd hope COVID hasn't or won't effect the team's preparation for this game. Kings Lynn haven't had the best of starts. 1 win in 5 games. 6Β goals for, 14 against. They are a hard working side but they are very weak at the back. They give up a pile of chances and Notts have the forwards to exploit that. We are leaking goals which is a worry so I'll go for 3-2 to Notts.Β

Yeah it is surprisingly quiet, I guess there’s no point testing players too early on. I think Friday is the latest they can do it. Fingers crossed we have no more cases.

I’m pretty sure there’s no chance any that tested positive last week will be available. I just hope they’re all doing okay, I know footballers are young and fit, I’m sure they’ll be fine but every individual is different. I hope they aren’t affected for too long after either, hearing all this stuff about long covid too now is grim.

As for the remains ofΒ the team (assuming everyone else is alright) it’s likely we’ll be without a RB again. I'm not sold on McCrory playing there, think I'd ratherΒ play Rawlinson there and bring Turner into the side. Sam needs to be thrown in, he needs match fitness and a chance show us what he can do. Pilling looked decent in the pre-season games, wouldn’t be opposed to giving him a game.

I wouldn’t make too many changes, with the reduced income it would be helpful to get through a couple of rounds.

As for the score, I think we will have worked on set-pieces and defending this week (again assuming we had a squad to train!). 2-0 Notts, Sam and Reeves to score.

Heart breaking to see us drop out of the FA Cup, part of me thought "why not just play the game?" and, then postpone the fixtures due to the positive tests.

Yet, it shows Notts are prepared to look out for other clubs as some players might have it without knowing.

Obviously they're tested, yet if teams can get away with fielding players with it potentially then it seems reckless. It doesn't take much to figure out who Neal Ardley believes our players caught COVID-19, so if proven they've pretty much cost us a piece of history and, a loss of income.

On the other hand, I'm not overly bothered but I will be annoyed IF people take the League Cup/any other rubbish competition more seriously.

For me, the FA Cup is the one cup worth trying to progress further in.

Due toΒ Altrincham the club now has to miss the FA Cup which could've provided financial benefits, and have to sit out the recent progress in match form due to the 2 weeks break. If any of the squad will be training, focus on fixing the defence and set piece issues.
