  1. From what I am reading, fans aren't impressed with the Doncaster defender. Talk about falling flat on your face, there's been a lot of hype about the defence - do we learn? I just hope JF gives them clear instructions and changes a few things. Only noted positives from Noble and Banton (going off Colin/Mark). Lets get back into this Notts!!
  2. Typical, absolutely typical. If Notts want to get something from this, they'll have to sort the defence out - the Doncaster defender sounds problematic. The defence seemed to have improved, so we throw in an unfit defender? I was optimistic about the loan but right now I am just disappointed. I just don't see how we can turn this around without making changes to the way we are playing. York City sound like they are full of confidence after scoring the first goal. Colin says if they score a third goal, it will be game over - with fans flooding to support the club, I honestly hope Notts improve.
  3. It's down to his manager and team mates to get him to cut it out, but the most frustrating part is when he dives or goes down easily in a good position - he tends to waste opportunities by doing it. I've said to both Joe Jones and Cobby (browser refuses to allow me to tag - ha!) that a proper striker would try to shoot - rather than crumble to the floor in those situations. Regardless, he's a key player and we can demand more from him. He said it himself when he signed and when he spoke after hushing the crowd, so hopefully he can play a role in today's game. I'm pretty confident.
  4. I agree with CS above. Since his surprise inclusion, he's been brilliant but as a CB he leaves us wide open. Poor Hollis had to cover him at home, so I would prefer him to play back at RB. Hopefully his comments ring true but we need to see more, there's no doubt about that.

Jamie Fullarton will be hoping his Notts squad can achieve their third successive away with since he took charge. The Magpies' confidence has increased on the road since the departure of Ricardo Moniz with fans in attendance and in spirit will hope this continues for as long as possible. York City will be hoping their home form prevails against County, with them last claiming victory against Stevenage back on the turn of last month. They have won one of their last six games, having drawn two and losing three - The Minstermen are 16 points below Notts who are currently bottom of the League Two table. Run-down of their last six games. Monday 28th December – Mansfield Town 1 York City 1 Saturday 2nd January – Yeovil Town 1 York City 0 Saturday 16th January – York City 0 Newport County 1 Saturday 23rd January – Carlisle United 1 York City 1 Saturday 30th January – York City 2 Stevenage 1 Saturday 6th February – Northampton Town 2 York City 0 The Players – Fact Sheet Highest Goal Scorers; Vadaine Oliver 8, Michael Coulson 5, James Berrett 4 and Luke Summerfield 4. Persistent Foulers; Vadaine Oliver 7 yellow cards and 1 red card, Dave Winfield 7 yellow cards, James Berrett 7 yellow cards and Marvin McCoy 4 yellow cards. The Key Players. Scott Flinders on his day can be a very decent keeper, especially if protected by his defence. If I singled out three players who seem to be key to the Minstermen's team - they would be Michael Coulson, Vadaine Olver and Russell Penn. Whilst Kenny McEvoy deserves an honourable mention. Style of Play, Strengths, and Weaknesses. From all the highlights I have seen, York City haven't really shown much direction with their play. They seem to struggle to get hold of the ball, which seems to create scrappy play - whilst at times they can pass it around nicely, as you can imagine this isn't the case often and their fans do seem to encourage better play at home. They play as a unit, keeping passes as simple as possible. When they do play well, their attacks are certainly from the heart and with the ability to get forward they can appear to be lethal - however, prone to making poor decisions on goal, often leaves their breaks unrewarded. Weaknesses within their defences highlights that they do not look up to much against good sides, with those that play attacking minded football. They tend to back of their opposition, leaving space and their marking seems to be missing - as does their positioning. Ball from corners and blistering shots seems to make Scott Flinders and his defence struggle. Not a member yet? Join our website - Here | Interested in reading more? Visit our homepage - Here.
  6. Tomorrow Notts will play The Minstermen at the Bootham Crescent Stadium, whilst the home side York City will hope to have the advantage from their form found playing in front their own spectators. However, York are currently glued to the footer of the table at 24th, with tomorrows game presenting them a chance to secure points to push closer to safety. York City have only won once within their last six league fixtures, having drawn two and lost the other fixtures. The Match Officials for the game will be referee Mark Haywood, assistants Nick Greenhalgh and Jason Whiteley, and fourth official Helen Byrne. 7. I know what you mean, he's work rate is something I have voiced concerns about. Yet if performances improve, he should be at the front and hopefully with someone with pace to partner (without probably won't be the case) - yet at home it should always be this way. Tomorrow it's not so much a problem, if we keep the direct route and bombard balls into their penalty box. I just hope to hear "It's Notts on attack" rather than "Notts are hanging in there" or wave after wave of York attacks.
  8. Lets hope the weekends fixtures will be kind to us, we need the results to go our way so we can push up the table. COYP!
  9. He's shown touches of pace but I honestly feel we haven't seen him anywhere near 100%. I'm not making excuses, I just feel he's a player who has the mouldings to be a very reliable player. Yet it injuries could very well be what presents this, whilst if he doesn't become match fit once returned - it's likely he won't be with us for long after that. Also, we have had wingers with no pace before - if we can partner him with someone to support, his feet and movement could be enough to give us the advantage. That's provided we ever see him again.
  10. McLeod in form and focused should have a field day at York City if we attack the game in the right way. Confidence away from home really seems to be 'lifted' and I hope it doesn't fall short tomorrow, as the postponed game could very well indeed be a hidden blessing. I just hope the players dig deep to get the result which should follow, I know sides are fighting for their lives but if we play as we can - I don't see them coping.
  11. Probably a gamble that one of the other clubs would have offered him a deal - swayed by his agent? Who knows...
  12. I've been to the Viking museum when I was younger, it's a fascinating place. I keep hearing about how York is a great place to visit but I haven't been since I was younger - if we play them next season I will be sure to add to my list of games to attend. York are a side we should beat, however it's football and they are at home. I hope JF's winning streak continues away from home but I have this down as a 2-2 draw.
  13. No disrespect to Les Bradd (who is a true gent) but I just hope we treat Jamie for who he is and avoid comparing him to others. I just find this adds annoyance to some, whilst others think it's offensive but really it's just an opinion (which I personally accept). Yet I do think people forge their own names in football. We'll never have another Jimmy, just like if Jamie goes onto to achieve success - he'll be in a class of his own. I really hope this comment isn't taken the wrong way.
  14. Banton seems to be quite popular, though I really don't know if he would be a suitable signing personally - I can't say I am that bothered about him. If he does sign, I would hope he settles and plays regularly.
  15. Fair play to all involved. Now we just need to see sport covers like @Andy Black shared via FB (of Juventus) - I know the people who follow PON loved the idea. Let's make Nottingham even more of a city to be proud of.

  17. Hartlepool United manager Ronnie Moore has expressed his 'disappointment' that last weekends game at Meadow Lane had been postponed. The pools have a backlog of fixtures due to postponements and will be one of the busiest teams within the Football League as they play catch up. Moore's side now have either three, four or five games in hand over other teams who sit at the bottom end of the division, with weather so far this season meaning Hartlepool United experience their fourth postponement to date. "I came down early in the car with Sam Collins when I heard there might be a doubt, when I got on the pitch there was standing water in the goalmouths and centre-circle." More told the SportMail. "The ref walks out, tries to bounce a ball, of course it gets stuck so he says 'there's no change'." "I love coming to Notts County, it’s a great pitch, ground and atmosphere and was looking forward to the match so much. The disappointment for me was that more was not done to get the game played." Meadow Lane was waterlogged on Saturday after heavy rain down-poured throughout Nottingham. "Yes, there was water on the surface, but the ground was actually quite firm. For me, if the water had been pushed off like you see them do on the golf greens and then the pitch had been forked then you don’t know, do you? There might have been a chance." He said. "The [Notts County] people said that the water drains into the river just outside the ground and the river’s right up. Results went the way of Pools on Saturday in the games which went ahead." What do you think of the postponement? Is Ronnie Moore right that more could have been done or is he just upset due to the backlog of fixtures? Have you say on the Pride of Nottingham.
  18. Hopefully we can dig in next weekend and lift back up. Quite a boring weekend really. I also note Cambridge and Mansfield are doing well still, I think the Stags moving to 5th is a good thing for Nottinghamshire football. Yet I am not sure we will finish higher than them myself, I know quite a few who want this but hey ho.
  19. I was really looking forward to the game today, it's a shame but it presents us a chance to further prepare ourselves. I think the longer Hartlepool go without playing, will only resort in nerves - we are not having much luck against them are we? Reminds me of the old days in League One not that many moons ago.
  20. Very fair summary, your probably right. Fullarton really does need to find a way to incorporate Aborah, he does defend and pick up the ball - if anything he tends to lose the ball whizzing past players (as he doesn't have a lot of pace). Yet most of the time he retains the ball, he's like a 'more' finished version of Curtis Thompson. I can't wait for tomorrow.
  21. Hartlepool fans are really something, they treat people well and I have the utmost respect for the club - it was also mine and Jake's first away day together. I don't think they should be near the relegation zone but they're struggling with losing some key players IMO. I hope we overcome the jinx of playing them and that we claim all three points. COYP!
  22. Rallying call really, I wouldn't read to much into it - I think the proof will be in the pudding so we shall see tomorrow but I hope they'll be okay.
  23. Hartlepool United manager, Ronnie Moore has told his players to go and 'enjoy' playing their football - He insists they should show no fear, starting with the Pools trip to Meadow Lane tomorrow. Hartlepool finds themselves a single position above the drop zone of League Two, a mere 12 points behind the Magpies'. In a mid-week interview More said "Pressure? it’s for whimps". Before adding "Just go and play football, we’re not getting shot at out there! Yes, it’s people’s livelihoods and the fans have supported the club all their lives – they don’t want to see us go out of this league. But it’s game of football - go out there and enjoy it." "It’s a matter of getting together, taking the chances when they come." Pools dropped to 22nd in the table this week, it's their lowest league position since last May - It follows after Yeovil managed to secure a point against Luton Town, though the Pools have a total of 4 games in hand. "We can’t do anything about other teams winning. You have to live with that. But we have the opportunity with our games in hand." explained Moore. "They mean nothing though unless we are winning them, we know it’s going to be tough, there’s no doubt about that but we have a decent squad here now and one we should not fear anyone. We need a little break, we need someone to put the ball in the net, however it goes in, it does not have to be a wondergoal." Former Hartlepool United striker Luke James will be availible for the pools selection and will be tasked with causing Notts County's defender trouble. He will remain with the side on a half-season long loan after signing from Peterborough United. Also availible would select the 21-year-olds partner from a range of players such as Rakish Bingham, Rhys Oates, Billy Paynter and Scott Fenwick. "Luke can play with any of our strikers,” said Moore. “He can play in a 4-4-2 or just off the forward, It’s a hard decision for me because given the amount of forwards here now, one or two may not be in the squad altogether." "But all the lads have had ample time to put a smile on my face, none of them can knock on my door if they are out. Scotty is maybe the only one who can feel hard done by, but the reason I went for Bings last week was his pace." "It wasn’t anything to do with me thinking Bings is a better forward than Scotty. It was horses for courses, but we can all be wise after the event can’t we? We can all say at 5pm, 'oh, I wouldn’t have picked him'." Nathan Thomas will be a certain starter for the pools, along side Luke James - who returned after putting an outstanding performance last Saturday against Exeter City. "If we had someone like Luke last week we would have won as Nathan was unplayable," said Moore. "He has ability, he is bright and quick and creates chances. Nathan can be our saviour – playing at that pace, opposition players can’t handle him. I don’t want to pin too much responsibility on one boy, but everyone has seen what he is capable of. I’m sure if he produces that week-in, week-out there will be enough balls coming in to satisfy any striker." Have your say on the Pride of Nottingham match discussion - Here. Don't forget to join in and if you haven't registered - you can do so here.
  24. Hartlepool United presents Jamie Fullarton an excellent opportunity, as does the run of fixtures taking place within February. Yet, it’s tricky in a sense because we feature the Pools twice within recent weeks of each other and those games are quite hard for teams struggling to insert themselves on the field – especially when the first game is at home. York City, Leyton Orient and Accrington Stanley are games coming up. We also face a difficult Plymouth Argyle towards the latter part of the month. York and Accrington are games which I feel we can secure points; it is aided by the fact that Jamie has restored faith in the away performances. So tomorrow we face the challenge which a struggling Hartlepool United presents and the conversations within our match discussion has instantly raised concerns regarding both midfields. I don’t think they will sit back, it’s not the style of play they try to incorporate into their tactics. Most likely, they will build with patience or result to keeping the ball in the air, so that this breaks the game up and allows them to edge closer to playing it on the ground within the final third. They will want to involve their wingers as much as possible, with so many young and eager players and a packed midfield this could make it hard for us to break them down. Which will be a test of character for Notts to enable play to break them down. With York City also being a side which struggle, I think this will be the game that could entice confidence from our own attacking play. Orient are a different scenario, we know that they will look to play with confidence and aggression – whilst Accrington are just your typical League 2 team. Plymouth being the final fixture of February, will rely on the morale and confidence picked up from the previous five games. I think picking 10 points could happen; it’s the mid-range of what I would predict personally and much depends on our home performances’ that break up the away games. I don’t dismiss that there will be tests, yet for us to finish as high as possible (forgetting about the play-offs for now) – we will need to acquire much of the points here, as March could be a month where we could seal further victories. It may seem negative to think about this now, but I have thought about comments made about next season. Surely re-building in the summer will allow us to focus on challenging wisely for promotion from League 2? C’mon You PIES!! What do you think? Don't forget to have your say by voicing your opinions within the Pride of Nottingham community | Not a member? Join us today - be a part of our growing Notts hub.
  25. @AmericanPie I disagree, we need to witness signs that the football is improving - this will help Jamie but it would also help bring folk back to Meadow Lane. Obviously it's not always possible but Hartlepool can be broken down, I think the football on Saturday might see much of the game competed within the air and I'm not exactly sure how much this would benefit the visitors. They, like us prefer it being played on the floor but I suspect both teams will find it difficult to play the game outright like this.
