  1. I pray Notts never considers having Poundland as their sponsor, every time a play didn't prove their worth..... You know what would be said. I hope this goes a long way to helping Walsall. If Jamie Jellis hits the ground running, @sadlad should be happy.
  2. It was always going to be a difficult task for Luke, Swansea need to get behind him and the manager time. It would be horrible to think they don't, there are no easy games in the Championship and I don't know how good their recruitment is, but he needs to be given a chance to stamp his mark. Unfortunately, Luke hasn't walked into a good dressing room like Stuart Maynard has done. I hope their fans give him time.
  3. Believe me it doesn't, it stinks any house out.
  4. I would like to say it should be quite straight forward with it being at Meadow Lane, but there are so many unknowns. Barrow will still see us as a team they want to beat due to the size of our ground and now with the addition of a new manager. This will be our first real insight into Stuart Maynard, something which we need to just remind ourselves that its early days no matter what. If we go on to lose, thrash them or draw. The performance will hopefully just be a starting point. Nothing more than a glimpse as to what we may expect from the newly appointed head coach, defensively we may still make the same usual mistakes. Provided the team works hard, chances should come, and it should be a great entertaining game. Barrow won't want to lose points just as much as us, but we need to make the most of being in front of our home fans. A draw wouldn't be a bad outcome. Barrow is a very organised team which plays to their strengths, I think they're punching slightly above their own weight, but that's what good teams do. I respect that, I can see them wanting to make the most of set pieces and dead balls. Moments where we commonly switch off, as for us, I hope to see us playing in a way where we bombard their area in the controlling manner that is both exciting and threatening.
  5. How we have fallen to be just beneath MK Don's I don't know, it's a saddening feel because they've been woeful. Facebook banter groups are constantly labelling themselves as "bottlers." I think it's just natural and that they will pick up again soon. They have a good team, a good manager and have fixtures coming up where they must feel confident (including against us).
  6. I can't say I have heard of Edinburgh City FC. I would imagine it's difficult for many Scottish clubs to attract fans. Here we have the scene where it's trendy and considered to be cool to go support Non League teams. I have seen videos on YouTube where creators go to a random Scottish club and there's like 100 people in the stand. I hope they manage to stay afloat, at League One level in the Scottish tier I would hope they do.
  7. @Fan of Big Tone of course you were on holiday! I was deemed too young to travel, my grandfather Ray took @william1984. On the way home they were involved in a crash and some Notts fans came to the rescue to make sure they returned home safely. Fortunately, the crash was not major. I had to wait until our next Wembley appearance before I was allowed to go. I have made every other Wembley visit since including going to support the former Notts County ladies when they played Chelsea in the Women's FA Cup. My memories of the game is quite vague, other than my brother claiming we were cheated and my grandfather being unhappy too.
  8. I've heard this story, so let's see if I can get the gist correct. Super sent fresh haggis to New York because the price in America is very expensive. He had a friend that enjoyed it and I believe it started as a joke. I can't be quoted on this, as my mind is interpreting memory. This story has come up a few times, most recently when I mentioned to my dad that I had watched "So I Married An Axe Murderer" starring Mike Myers, one of my favourite films as a young boy.
  9. I can't say I have heard of him, but doing a quick search it seems City hold him with high regard. They did with Will Patching, so it's all down to how they would get on really. It's difficult to see youngsters breaking into Manchester City's team without them having something special. This could very well be their way of deciding if he's worth hanging onto or if he needs further time out on loan. Those who think we are just signing loan players now, I think the club is merely wanting to leave space for making permanent signings next season when we know where we are. I don't think it's anything to do with not having money in the budget to spend on players or a case of not willing to spend it. I would assume that we are contributing to the loan signings wages, as you can usually type which are being paid outright by the parent club quite easily.
  10. His stock has fallen a fair bit with his last two managerial roles, but it is a good appointment, will it last though? Steve Cotterill is barely someone who won't speak his mind. There are so many ways I can see this ending in a disaster. Their chairman will need to do right by him and the fans, because otherwise Cotterill won't last long. Spending money in a ditched effort to stay up normally isn't a good thing, as it takes players time to settle in and the whole vibe around Forest Green Rovers sounds very toxic. It sounded this way well before Troy Deeney sparked controversy with his comments on the players. It shouldn't be underestimated how big of a job this is for Steve Cotterill, he's good at getting teams on an even platform but can struggle when the damage is set in. Ask any Shrewsbury Town fans their opinion on Cotterill.
  11. Stuart Maynard said all the right things, he shows an understanding of the players and opposition. It's also good that he now has had extended time with the players, I like that he sees that the team defensively just needs a bit of guidance. I am hoping the lads come out strong and manage to put on a good showing. The first win will be crucial, again it's a cliché but in terms of new management it's very important.
  12. Inih Effiong was not able to perform well for our team due to a lack of suitability for our system. He did well the next time we encountered him, in a team where he was about their only threat.
  13. Millwall 2-0 Preston North End Sunderland 1-1 Stoke City Cambridge United 1-2 Burton Albion Wigan Athletic 2-0 Stevenage Joker Grimsby Town 1-0 Tranmere Rovers Swindon Town 1-2 Bradford City Hartlepool United 0-0 York City Oxford City 1-1 Ebbsfleet United

    BREXIT.....

Sound advice guys! Please don't make me have to fetch @GrannyPie's walking sticks to clobber anyone. Let's have a respectful debate where everyone's opinions are valued. Please remember to stay calm and avoid getting heated. I don't want any of you falling out over something which can be completely avoided. Sending each of you , now play nice nicely. @Piethagoram @Ohh Tommy Johnson @Robbie
  15. Mansfield, Gillingham and Wrexham will be big deciders on where Notts should finish. I still feel we are good enough for automatics on paper, but you don't win games that easy and our squads' depth is one area where we need to manage more than just who we play. We can't afford any injuries, so strengthening now is something that will help and what we have done so far seems to be adding to the squad in areas where we need to improve. I am hoping Jaden Warner proves to be a massive coup at centre back. If Scott Robertson can fill the gap we have in midfield, or just prove to be a very solid addition then those two areas should play out well. We also have no idea how Stuart Maynard will do, but I think it's a great appointment which for the long term should do well. If under Maynard we become more confident, less pressure to score goals should see us improve away from home which is the area where we ideally need to improve on. Away form and defending better go hand in hand with what we need to see. I would like to say, I can foresee Maynard rallying the squad and getting us to forming good winning streaks. It's still an unknown, but we should at least be in and around the playoffs, if Maynard fixes issues at the back, and we get some good results again then he may do similar to when Steve Cotterill took over. By this I mean play at our best, reduce the mistakes at the back and just become very consistent.
  16. 44 goals conceded!!! Why?!?!!?! It's not just the men's team that are leaking goals, I hope the women's team does improve and manages to stir themselves away from the bottom. There's plenty they can build on, and I am sure they will with time. Adjusting to the league seems quite a big thing for them, but a draw isn't bad.
  17. @liampie I pay little attention to cricket, so all this tends to fly over my head. @super_ram likes his cricket, as does my brother @william1984. Good luck to them. PS. I love the chrisps Skips, but this isn't very nice.
  18. Very good result for Notts back in the day, Fulham were a very good team back then (at least I have been told). Any 5 goal win should come as a surprise as either the team played were incredibly poor, or everything went in their favour. To beat Fulham especially at their ground is worth noting. Was there a stand referred to as a cow shed? I could have got this from @super_ram when he's spoken about Fulham. Or, totally confused.
  19. A few seasons back, one of my Forest supporting friends suggested that we try to take him on loan. This was before he went to Wealdstone; supposedly he was held in very high regard by Forest and thought he would be a future star from them. Maybe not good enough for the Premier League, but definitely eventually for the Championship. It's worth noting that Hibs haven't given up on him, he's just been sent out on loan, so they will think he has plenty about him.
  20. You should be able to hear the discussions ongoing, as it would bring further transparency and better understanding of the decisions. The issue is, I don't think football likes to be fully transparent for whatever reason. If you could hear the discussion and make sure whoever controls the VAR relies on their opinion, there's little to go wrong.
  21. The current day WWE is like the 'New Generation' of the early 90s, and it's been this way for far too long. There's no reason why they can't produce stars of the golden era (pre 90s) that have dynamic matches that we have come to love, recreating an attitude/ruthless aggressive era. I just think they need to go back to being unscripted, allow the talent to do shoots and if people aren't able to speak well on camera, allow them to work on but having a manager do the talking can add to it. I really wished WWE would up its game more for this reason.
  22. VAR would actually work if officials used it correctly. In football, it doesn't quite work well, but it is either human error or something else that tends to make it look worse. Many other sports have a similar system to VAR, such as rugby, and they get most decisions spot on without the need for it. There's something iffy about the way the referee in these games takes so long to watch the VAR, whilst appearing to have already precluded what actions he's going to take. It might not be match fixing as such, but rather biasedness towards Real Madrid which is an underlining issue that cheats football from its true enjoyment.
  23. Good update, I do like how Notts does this and those seasons where we wouldn't know what was going on - it just led to misinformation. That in turns creates rumours and negativity, it becomes annoying and the easiest thing to do is to provide the update like this. It's great news, here's the video. Here's a quick break down. 1. Geraldo Bajrami's Injury Update: - Suffered a serious knee injury early in the season. - Underwent surgery and has been progressing well in rehabilitation. - Recently started training on the grass, a positive step in his recovery. - Focus now on building load tolerance for running over the next few months. - Goal is to be ready for preseason at the start of the next year. 2. Cedwyn Scott's Injury Situation: - Experienced a serious injury, different from Geraldo's, allowing him to continue initially in the game. - Required surgery and a significant period off feet. - Currently on track with rehabilitation, aiming to return by the end of March. - Entering the last phase of rehab, progressing well. 3. Matty Palmer's Season-Ending Injury: - Similar injury to Bajrami but occurred later in the season. - Currently in the gym phase of rehabilitation, focusing on strengthening. - Positive progress, with the target to return for the start of the next season if all goes as planned. 4. Adam Chicksen's Achilles Issue: - Experienced an Achilles issue just before Christmas. - Towards the end of rehab, recently started grass work. - Plan to progress over the next few weeks, aiming for a return to training soon. 5. Injury Updates on Other Players: - Louis Macari had a freak illness, out for a couple of weeks, but expected to reintegrate soon. - Will Randall and Junior Morias are back to full training after recovering from ankle and calf issues. - Positive trend in having more players available for selection, with recent returns to full training.
  24. What is the status of their live television broadcasting rights? Doesn't that interfere with their huge TV network rights?? The highest they have ever had.I am not complaining; it sounds like a great idea. I must admit, I prefer watching AEW even though people get involved and try to spoil it. I find it to be more like what I grew up watching; I have tried to watch WWE and I just feel it's too scripted. On the plus side, it might improve things. Triple H did incredibly well when Vince had disappeared, and now he's further in the background it does seem to be improving. If this makes their product easier to watch for fans and contributes to better improvements it should be good. I watched the highlight show on TNT Sports I think it was and even found that to be a subpar way of trying to enjoy it. All my questions are answered here, this is insane. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/wwe/article-12996075/Netflix-WWE-Raw-Deal.html
  25. https://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2023/july/26/Mullins-Appointed-U21-Head-Coach/ The last I recall off the top of my head, is Haydn Mullns temporarily being interim manager of Watford. I think he also had some involvement with West Ham as a coach after, but his wiki doesn't clarify that. He was indeed head coach of Colchester United under Steve Ball. Who knew? I didn't. Also, he seems to have managed "Turks and Caicos Islands", I don't recall hearing of them before.
