Macaulay Langstaff, the talented football player we all know and love, has recently achieved a new milestone in his career. He scored his first couple of goals in the English Football League in just three games. It was a proud moment for Langstaff as he achieved this milestone. “Yeah obviously proud moment to get my first couple of FL goals,” Langstaff said. “It’s been three games now and probably hasn’t bothered me as much as people expect.” Langstaff had a couple of chances in the first few games and always says he worries when he doesn’t get the chances. “If I’m not getting the chances then I’m doing something right,” he said. Thankfully, the two goals came there and with the goals came the three points. Langstaff mentioned that there was a time last season when he went three games without a goal. “It happens,” he said. “As a forward, I think because of the amount of goals I scored last year. It probably made a big deal out of it. Maybe it would have been the fact it was the first three games. That’s why people were speaking about it and said obviously he stepped up a level, can he score a goal at this level? but it didn’t really bother me too much,” he said. “I knew the goals were gonna come. I’m thankful to kick that.” The team has worked on scoring from set pieces since the gaffer came in. “Probably the first two games when the gaffer came in we weren’t scoring from set pieces and that’s something he changed quite quickly,” Langstaff said. “Getting the ball and a free play because every player you know we are devastating going forward.” So yeah, it was a quick free kick and then the quality from John was unbelievable. “We know he’s got that quality with his left foot, and it took me a little bit by surprise,” he said. “There was a defender just ahead of me and I thought he was gonna head it away on a thankful that came off of a foot into the bottom corner.” The game started really well, controlling it from the first minute. “You know we probably didn’t create as much in the 1st 20 minutes but controlled the game really well,” he said. “We didn’t give anything away.” And then once the first goal controlled the rest of the half and then the early goal set that was so important. “Because if you keep ongoing one nil up in the last 20–30 minutes it can become a problem if they put pressure on or sort of kill the game with that second goal control it from there,” he said. The session was unbelievable, and they made a lot of good forward attacks as well but just couldn’t quite get that third goal until Jodi scored the third goal. “And yeah it was game over from there,” he said. The team has so many good players that if one is in a box, someone else is probably free. “And they might get attracted to someone else,” he said. But Sam Austin was brilliant today. “In the first half, he put an unbelievable crossing for me, there was a defender on the line headed over the bar, and it was Unbelievable,” he said. He told Sam to just keep on doing that because he got so much quality. And in the second half, early in the second half, he put that cross into the box and I couldn’t really miss it, the cross was that good. Langstaff is proud to have scored his first couple of FL goals in three games and is confident that more will come as long as he keeps getting chances. The Faces of PON returned for the 2023-24 League Two season, capturing the emotions and reactions of Notts County fans as they entered the Eco-Power Stadium (Keepmoat Stadium) for their away game against Doncaster Rovers. The Magpie fans were in full spirit, impressing through the game with their support. Chris Buckley, the Pride of Nottingham gaffer, was hands-on, taking pictures of the fans. Speaking to fans before the game, it seemed an unknown game as to what to expect. Chris felt that a 2-1 Notts win was on the card, whilst the majority of fans that he spoke to struggled to draw a conclusion. Despite the mounting anticipation, the support remained remarkably composed and showed no signs of any nervousness or uncertainty. With the away end making the atmosphere feel very much like a home game, and the reactions were incredible. Each goal, the away end went into raptures. Another highlight was Macaulay Langstaff’s celebration with his permanent smile and fist celebration in front of us for the second goal - absolutely magic, and he deserved the brace! The 3-1 victory against Doncaster Rovers puts things into perspective. Yes, Doncaster Rovers were poor but Notts didn’t allow them to really get going. The 3-2 win at home over Grimsby gave us 3 much needed points, yet it’s our away form which really needed a positive result with the hammering Sutton United gave us and then the draw against Morecambe. This win is a boost, as we have been improving and the confidence from such a solid performance is something we can draw from. The importance of the match is that it can encourage us to strive to get victories on the road. The togetherness between club, players and fans is massive, and it’s a winning formula. Having our first away win of the season, with such a dominant performance will be a game that we can build on from. Notts County secured a 3-1 victory against Doncaster Rovers at the Eco-Power Stadium. In a post-match interview, manager Luke Williams shared his thoughts on the team's performance and individual player performances. According to Williams, it was a good performance from Notts County. "We took our chances in the first half," he said. "Doncaster made it difficult for us to build up to the final third. However, we changed our tactics a bit and it helped us." He also mentioned that the goals changed the game and in the second half, Notts County took the game away from Doncaster a little bit. "The scoreline probably wasn't a true reflection of the overall game, but we're delighted with it and most of the performance was very good," he added. Williams further commended the impressive performances of each player. He mentioned that Macaulay Langstaff had come close to scoring a hat-trick and that he deserved the goals for his work rate. "He has come close a few times already, and he was excellent in the game," Williams said. He also mentioned that this player is playing catch up now because he likes to score goals again, so he has to score and have a brace. Williams also talked about how they don't want to do what is expected from set pieces. "All teams have markers and there is a moment of calm before the whistle goes where players can get set and pick up their markers," he explained. "However, when the ball comes into open play, players have to make decisions and work out whether they should step up or not. This can be difficult." In addition, Williams discussed how one player came off under his own steam which is a good thing, and now they just have to wait and assess before he can tell anything more. He mentioned that people talk about taking positives from every bad situation, but it's difficult to find one in the opening day. However, they can turn that into a positive and remember how terrible they felt when they let the fans down because they went there in numbers and sang all the way through. If they don't want that feeling again, they have to be really focused and concentrate on all the small details. It was a strong performance from Notts County and Williams was pleased with the result. Macauley Langstaff scored two goals as Notts County easily defeated Doncaster, securing their first away win of the season. Langstaff, last season's National League top scorer, netted his first two goals of the campaign while Jodi Jones also scored as the Magpies dominated at the Eco-Power Stadium. After a scrappy start to the game, Langstaff opened the scoring 28 minutes in with a volley from an excellent cross by John Bostock. Doncaster made three substitutions at half-time, but County doubled their lead in the first minute of the second half when Langstaff headed in a cross from Sam Austin. Rovers briefly rallied, but their hopes were dashed after 54 minutes when Jones drilled the ball in at the near post from a Dan Crowley cross. Langstaff nearly completed his hat-trick on the hour mark but missed a header from David McGoldrick's deflected cross. Substitute Deji Sotona scored from 10 yards out deep into stoppage time to reduce the deficit, but it was little consolation for a thoroughly beaten Doncaster. Doncaster Rovers v Notts County highlights

Notts County secured a comfortable victory against Doncaster on a windy summer afternoon, with Macaulay Langstaff scoring his first English Football League goals and Jodi Jones adding a third. Langstaff scored with a volley and header on either side of half-time, while Jones sealed the win with an excellent finish in front of a packed away end. Doncaster managed to score a late consolation goal, but it did little to dampen the spirits of Notts County as they claimed their second win of the season. Richard Brindley was recalled to the heart of Notts County's defence, replacing Adam Chicksen, after being left out of Tuesday’s draw at Morecambe as a precaution. Brindley was joined by Kyle Cameron and Aden Baldwin in the back three, while Aidan Stone continued in goal after keeping his first clean sheet on the Lancashire coast. On the right, Sam Austin replaced Aaron Nemane, who was named among the substitutes, while Jones continued on the left. John Bostock returned to the base of midfield alongside Matt Palmer after having his minutes managed in midweek. Langstaff was supported by Dan Crowley and David McGoldrick. McGoldrick was involved in the game’s first notable incidents, scuffing a long-range shot wide under pressure before being shown a yellow card for shooting after the referee had stopped play. Langstaff appeared to have been pulled back in the build-up to that incident, and frustrations continued moments later when Jones was booked for arguing against a foul given against him. Tyler Roberts should have done better to punish a mix-up between Austin and Baldwin on 20 minutes but got his shot all wrong in front of a packed away end. After Bostock was cautioned for a foul 25 yards out, Notts County took the lead from a set-piece routine. The ball was returned to Bostock in a crossing position, and he produced the perfect delivery for Langstaff to guide home on the volley. Langstaff came close to scoring again moments later but was denied by an excellent defensive header which prevented him from converting Austin’s looping cross - the final goalmouth action of the half. Doncaster made three changes at half-time, but it did not prevent Notts County from doubling their lead within a minute of the restart as Austin’s cross from deep was headed home by Langstaff. It was 3-0 on 54 minutes when Crowley advanced into space and saw his dangerous cross fumbled by Lawlor, allowing Jones to cut inside and find the bottom corner from eight yards. Langstaff came close to completing his hat-trick shortly after the hour mark but could not convert McGoldrick’s cross. Notts County's number nine came close again on 69 minutes when he controlled Cameron’s pass before volleying against the outside of the post from a tight angle. As the clock ticked over to 75 minutes, Doncaster had not managed a shot on target but then had two in quick succession as Deji Sotona drew a save from Stone before Joe Ironside failed to loop the ball over the keeper. Cedwyn Scott, who came on for McGoldrick, delivered an impressive response for Notts County with a tremendous shot that forced Lawlor into making an excellent reaction save. Stone still had work to do to preserve his clean sheet, making an excellent save down to his right before comfortably denying Ironside. In the end, Stone was denied consecutive clean sheets as Notts County failed to clear their lines inside their own area and Sotona scored a last-gasp consolation goal. Notts County will travel to the Eco-Power Stadium to play against Doncaster Rovers. The Magpies will be looking to build on their recent win and draw, which included a win and a clean sheet, whereas the Rovers will be wanting to get their first win of the season and climb the table to build some momentum for their season. Notts go into the game with four points from a possible nine, after losing 5-1 to Sutton on the opening day, beating Grimsby 3-2 in their second match, and, most recently, drawing 0-0 at Morecambe. One thing that Notts need to be doing differently against Doncaster is creating more in possession and being more clinical, as despite having 75% possession against Morecambe, both teams registered the same number of shots and shots on target. If Notts could do more when they are on the ball then they could dominate score lines. A big positive from the game on Tuesday, however, is the fact that the Magpies managed to keep a clean sheet. After conceding seven in the first two, with a few defensive mistakes leading to goals, it is good to see an opposition fail to score and for Aidan Stone to get his first clean sheet for his new club. Doncaster currently sit second from bottom after three games and one point, that draw coming in their most recent game, in a 2-2 game against Mansfield Town. Tom Nixon scored a wonder-strike in the 20th minute to take the Rovers into the lead, which was also their first league goal of the season after failing to score in the previous two. A back post header from Louis Reed brought the game level, but after an outside of the box effort from Tommy Rowe was parried out into the area by the keeper, striker Joe Ironside was there to pounce and restore the hosts lead. However, Doncaster could not hold onto their lead for the second time in the game, with George Maris striking from distance with ten minutes of regular time to go and both sides left with a point on Tuesday. If Notts can make them fluster at the back, by using their speed and creative outlets it may lead to a good amount of chances. Doncaster on the other hand will be wanting to use their height against Notts, it's a common occurence for us to struggle against taller physical teams. This shouldn't be the case completely, as I feel Notts should be able to play well. My prediction would be 2-1 to Notts. Match Odds Doncaster to win 16/5 - Draw 14/5 - Notts County to win 8/11 Head to Head Doncaster - haven't had the best of starts, they haven't won so far and have only managed to draw against Mansfield Town. Although, they are a much better outfit at their home ground. Notts County - come into the game having draw against Morecombe, and their first win at home against Grimsby Town. Notts have enjoyed a large spell of posession based football and will want to make use of that against Doncaster. Key Man Doncaster; George Miller - in their recent games, Miller has been a constant threat on goal and one of Doncaster's biggest positives so far this season. If Notts can keep him at bay, it should bode well. However, he's a tricky player that likes to find space when players are least expecting it. Notts County; Aaron Nemane - his ability to turn the opposition and get into wide areas of the pitch will be a positive threat for the magpies. If Notts can get him into the game to deliver his inviting crosses it should create plenty of opportunties. League Table Gillingham is currently leading the League Two table with 9 points, followed by Barrow and Crawley Town, both with 7 points. Milton Keynes Dons is in fourth place with 6 points, while Mansfield Town, Crewe Alexandra, and AFC Wimbledon are tied for fifth place with 5 points each. Notts County is currently in 15th place with 4 points, while Doncaster Rovers is in 23rd place with only 1 point. Today's results could have a significant impact on both teams' positions in the table. John Bostock, a former Doncaster Rovers player, is set to return to his old club this weekend as Notts County take on Doncaster Rovers in an away game. In an interview ahead of the match, Bostock reflected on his time at Doncaster and shared his thoughts on the upcoming game. "Yeah, I had an enjoyable time there," Bostock said. "Although we didn't finish how I would have liked it to have finished, with us getting relegated, but it was a really good time." Bostock is looking forward to seeing some familiar faces at the game, but he is focused on doing his job for Notts County. "I mean it'd be good to go back to see some old faces but obviously on the other side now to go and do a job," he said. Bostock has played for many clubs in his career and has had to compete against previous clubs before. He has utmost respect for Doncaster Rovers and the people involved there. "You know, some really great people I met at my time there," he said. "But you know, I'm a County player now, and I'm passionately trying to perform for my team and for us to build something here this season. So it's just another game." Bostock also spoke about how he hopes to be received by the Doncaster fans. "I don't normally think about how I'm perceived," he said. "But it will be nice to be received well, but you know they're a team who wants to win, and their fans will be behind their players. Our fans will be behind me and us. So yeah, I'll show the club the utmost respect because I enjoyed my time there." Notts County are confident that they can get a result against Doncaster Rovers. "It is important, it will come," Bostock said. "We're confident it will come. We are tinkering and changing and adapting to obviously the new league. But we know that once we start to really find our rhythm we will be where we need to be you know." Bostock also talked about how Notts County are working hard to adapt to the new league and find their rhythm. He believes that with performances comes wins and that tomorrow's game against Doncaster Rovers will hopefully be another step in the right direction.
