Red Card or just a Yellow, standard of refereeing?
Thought it at the time and again seeing that, looks like a yellow. Not high, no studs, not last man.
-
Cal Roberts joins Scunthorpe United
Scored today. Then went off injured. Hamstring. Likely season over. How many more of these big injuries can Cal and his career take?
-
Lucas Covolan, did Notts choose the wrong Port Vale keeper?
No. Not at all. Complete hot head and erratic, exactly what Notts don't need.
-
James Sanderson
Looked decent when we've seen a few glimpses. Hopefully he can push on and impose himself from the bench in the short term
-
Fulham Goalkeeper Luca Ashby-Hammond Joins Notts On Loan.
Seems very much in line with the other two. Decent with the ball at his feet, good shot stopper, bad decision making and prone to calamatious errors

New manager
If the brothers past 2 appointments are anything to go by, we're unlikely to know who is the running until the appointment. No doubt the usual social media culprits will claim they are 'in the know' but they'll likely know diddly squat. The only way we tend to find out about these movings is if we're after a manager currently employed and the leak will come from the other club, see Altrincham and Swansea.

Dan Gosling departs
Hasn't really worked for either party that short stint. He hasn't given anything to us, and he hasn't put himself in the shop window for anybody else either. He's in the same category as David Vaughan for me.

New Head Coach, New Ideas,Tactics, Shape & Style of Play..
I don't expect to see any massive change in the way we play, nor the formation. The recruitment team are still signing players, manager or no manager, as proven before with the signing of Langstaff. Those signings are naturally made to fit a certain role and position. What we are likely to see are smaller changes in player instructions, positioning etc.. Also, he may fancy some players in certain positions that Williams didn't. The goalkeeper position and back 3 will be interesting to see who he picks.
-
The goalkeeping situation
I'd be very surprised to see us shift from playing out from the back. The style of the club is clear and we recruit to match that style. We are currently at a stage where both Aidan Stone and Sam Slocombe are prone to mistakes. Agree the defence doesn't help, but the reality is that Stone doesn't save many and also gives the ball away.

Luke Williams to Swansea?
Official now.
-
Luke Williams to Swansea?
Let's get him moved swiftly on, pat on the back, good luck with your career, thanks for the season and a half. Looking forward to seeing the new manager and his ideas.
-
New manager
Oh helllllllll no to Burchnall.
-
Luke Williams to Swansea?
All over media, matter of an official announcement apparently. ????
-
Ollie Tipton recalled by Wolves.
Tipton was on trial before he signed on loan. Played some minutes in pre season.
-
The goalkeeping situation
Unfortunately, Stone isn't good enough in my opinion. He doesn't seem to have the confidence to play out from the back and his decision making is shocking at times. Slocombe is the better keeper of the 2, in the system we play. Happy to see what Tiernan brings to the fold, else we need to dip into the transfer kitty.

Ratings v Tranny
Stone - 2 - We need a new keeper if Tiernan isn't up to it. Brindley - 2 - Shambolic. Not up to the standard. Baldwin - 4 - One of his more chaotic performances. Cameron - 4 - Perhaps the better of the backline, but hardly a ringing endorsement. Nemane - 4.5- Good goal. Nothing offensively beyond that, crap at the back as per. Jones - 6 - All the decent crosses came from his side. Bostock - 4.5 - Wasn't at his unplayable best today. Austin - 5.5 - Can't really fault him. Crowley - 6 - Well marshalled but toiled away. Langstaff - 7 - What a player. McGoldrick - 5 - Off it today. O'Brien - 5 Sanderson - 5 If anybody is under the illusion that we don't need at least one defender and a new keeper - show them that highlights reel.

Match Discussion: Game 26 - Super White Army (A)
Stone still celebrating new years before remembering to dive. 1-0 tranny
-
Match Discussion: Game 23 - The Hatters (A)
Surprisingly played fairly well. Thing we have to give the MoM to the Stockport commentators, for being the most clueless commentators in the league. Think I remember them from the National League, like basketball fans trying to commentate on football.

Match Discussion: Game 22 - Sulphurites (A)
Stone with an excellent assist.

Some fantastic defending by Brindley there to allow Harrogate their first. /Sarcasm

Safe standing at Meadow Lane?
I stand at the top of the Kop. Still you will get the odd person, particularly when it is full, that will buy one or two tickets at the top of the Kop without realising everybody around them is going to be standing for the entire game. Either the top of the Kop, or in the centre of the Kop, is the best place acoustically and in terms of getting other fans to join in. I am fully for the allocation of an area to be safe standing. It will increase the atmosphere and allow for those that do want to stand, to do so without being moaned at by somebody who booked their ticket in the wrong place, or on the odd occasion the stewards decide they're not happy with us standing. The placement is key. If they put it at the far end of the pavis next to the family stand, nobody will go. It's Kop or nothing, for me.

Match Discussion: Game 1 - The Us (A)
Yeah, or Tipton I guess. The height issue isn't brindley's fault. Not being able to fight to win a ball or the inability to pass to a teammate, is.
-
Match Discussion: Game 1 - The Us (A)
The weak link defensively, which we all suspected, was laid bare today. Brindley, atrocious. There's nothing positive to say about that performance. Like he's playing on autopilot, with serious software defects. Stone, abysmal. What goes through your head to make a challenge outside the box with your hands in that situation, god only knows. Fitzsimmons-esque in being glued to his line for their first. Slocombe isn't be the best keeper for this level, but he's better than his supposed replacement. There were many bad performances today, but the above 2 stand out for being completely inept

Match Discussion: Game 21 - The Bees (H)
Slocombe - 7.5 - Not at fault for their opener. Did his job well and made the right choice again and again. Chicksen - 7.5 - Another goal. Can't say I quite made it out in the Kop. Solid at the back and good positions going forward. Doesn't skin a man, but that isn't his forte. Cameron - 8 - Thought he was excellent. Barely a foot wrong. Baldwin - 5 - Wayward passes, making wrong choices, bad touches... it's going to happen with the role he plays. Chicksen - 7.5 - Another goal. In the right position at the right time, again. Solid at the back and good positions going forward. Doesn't skin a man, but that isn't his forte. Rawlinson - 7 - Love Rawlo. Warrior. TAR - 6 - Decent going forward, but was run ragged by their winger. Palmer - 5.5 - Gets away with 'bad' (as in below par for him) performances sometimes. Didn't get away with it here, was terrible in the first half. Improved in the second. Bostock - 6.5 - Poor in the first half. Improved considerably in the second. Rodrigues - 6 - A little bit off it tonight. Tries all the risky balls and majority didn't come off today, but didn't shy away and kept trying the balls. Think he hit the post, too. Scott - 8 - Rats around and does a lot of stuff that goes unnoticed. Scores - again. Could've been an assist - couldn't tell from the Kop. Langstaff - 8 - His goal looked superb, but again would like to see the replay. See he was attributed the fourth - not sure how much of a touch he got on that. Jones - 7.5 - Thought he was threatening again. Some questionable defensive actions, but you expect that when you have a winger in a defensive role. Austin - 7 - Good contribution off the bench. Vincent - 7.5 - Thought he was excellent off the bench. Great touches, desire.... everything you want.

Match Discussion: Game 31 - The Gulls (A)
I initially thought their goal came from a Baldwin error, he misses his header and allows an easy finish to their striker. Having seen the highlights, however, it's not his fault and he's effectively marking their only 2 men in the box when we have 4 'defending' in the immediate vicinity: It's a counter-attack from a corner. Bad pass from Bostock, but not one we shouldn't recover from. We do a good job in getting numbers back defending, but I think it is Palmer who should be picking up his man and Ruben (?) helping him out. Midfielders and attackers though, don't always have the 'defenders brain' and see the danger incoming. Rawlinson certainly does see it, and is indicating as much. Rodrigues is more concerned with returning to his normal position and Palmer is ball-watching: By the time the cross comes in, Ruben is too late and Palmer is massively out of position, perhaps trying to close down the pass to midfield when that's easily already covered by Bostock: The reaction by Rawlo is pure frustration at the lack of defending basics: Stick with your man and don't get attracted to the ball. Rodrigues pointlessly barely moves with his hand in the air claiming an offside where there clearly isn't one; Palmer is chasing shadows. .
