  1. I don’t really have any ill-will towards him, I get why he left, I think the timing of the move is what irked people and I totally get it. I think had he left a couple of weeks after the season there would’ve been less animosity. Given how close the talks were around the play-off campaign he’d probably still have joined FGR had we won promotion. That too me would have been very strange. Anyway, we got Luke Williams because of the move so I'm not complaining! Just in terms of coaching abroad I do think he’s a good example to young coaches who can’t get the roles they want in this country. Maybe with families it’s harder for some but it makes me laugh how some of these ex-Premier League players think a National League club is beneath them and they should be getting a Championship club on name alone.
  2. Best Signing: David McGoldrick Highest Goal Scorer: Maccauly Langstaff Most Improved Player of the Season: Jodi Jones Most Starts in the Season: Kyle Cameron Best partnership between two players: Dan Crowley & Aaron Nemane I’m not dissing Jodi either, I just think as he’ll have had proper pre-season and will probably play in a more attacking role we’ll see an even better player.
  3. Montel Gibson, a striker who came through our academy and had a couple of appearances before being released. Now plays for Telford I believe.
  4. Yeah that Liverpool game is a very good shout, I’m sure it was a school night and my parents made me go to bed so I didn’t see the whole game! Agree with some others mentioned too, the Liverpool 4-0 comeback against Barcelona was impressive as was the Sheffield Wednesday play-off comeback from this season. But in terms of one-off games, the Man City v QPR final day of the season sticks out for me. They had to win in order to win the league but were up 2-1 down with 30 mins to go. It took until added time to score both goals (one being the Aguuuuerrrrroooooooooooo one!) to win the game. In terms of a Notts game the Boreham Wood one was the ultimate comeback for me. Another Notts comeback in recent(ish) memory was against Exeter, we scored 2 goals in added time to snatch a draw. Anyone remember it? I looked back to see when the goals were scored and it was Ryan Harley of all people who scored Exeter’s 2nd in the 88th minute!
  5. Hopefully the club will have received some feedback after the game about the levels. If not, I'll take my earplugs for the first home game of the season!
  6. How's the new PA system sounding? Plenty of goal announcements! ????????
  7. Good move him, he's at an age now where he needs all the game time he can get (if he's not going to get it with us). I've got high hopes for him in the future, he looks very promising for someone so young. I'm sure he'll do well there. And the season ends in November in Ireland, so there's potential for another loan in January too if his game time will be limited again.
  8. I was so confident we’d get the cricket team treatment where they'd tie the sponsorship in to fit with the shirt. Nope, just plaster it across the front. I’ve seen some fans say it makes the shirt look cheap and sadly I have to agree, it’s a shame as I like the stripes this year. I know sponsors want to stand out but cos the shirt has almost no colour it's too overriding. No idea if JPA said that’s how they wanted it but would it have been difficult to get them to agree to something like this? As for the away shirt if it’s a bit of a homage to Italy go a bit further and give it a green, white and red trim maybe, personally I want a bit more from it. Love the colour but it’s another very plain away shirt again.
  9. Yeah stupid changes in my opinion. A penalty heavily favours the taker you can’t expect a keeper just to stand there like a spectator. The recent rule change about staying on your line is fair, but there’s so much ambiguity in “unfairly distract the taker” are they going to provide list of what’s allowed and what isn’t? A big thumbs down from me.
  10. That picture really is a teaser, doesn't give much away at all. I'm not worried about the red, purposely show that bit first so the fans think the worst and then get all the plaudits when the John Pye text colour on the front matches our badge or is black/white! They altered their colours for the cricket shirts to tie-in so I'm sure they've done it with us too... ????????
  11. Fantastic news! And he was here for the start of pre-season too, the media team did a good job of keeping him out of all the photos and footage, panic over everyone! He was such a threat for us last season and whilst he's still a bigger threat going forward than back his defensive play has definitely improved. He's pace is crucial to the team, it's allows us to have an out-ball and in terms of defending it means he doesn't always have to worry about his positioning because he knows he can track back faster than his opponent more times than not. Him and Adebayo-Rowling gives us real strength in the RWB spot for the coming season now.
  12. Yeah, very pleased with them all so far but for me there's something magical about seeing McGoldrick back in a Notts shirt. If he's as good as he was for Derby as he is for us he's going to be amazing to watch!
  13. Yes, great catch up interview and with regards to Nemane that makes me think that he's almost certain to sign now. We had no update on the other later signings like Cameron and O'Brien, so for Luke to publicly say it's very close must mean behind the scenes the club are very confident of it happening. If it looked like he was off I think they would've just avoided the conversation altogether and just announced his departure like we did with Ruben.
  14. Yeah we've had supply issues with Puma before so I'm also surprised we signed another deal with them. Must be good financially for us to re-sign for that long though, otherwise it's just bad business and so far that's not something you'd associate with the Reedtz regime. In terms of the actual design I'm slightly worried given Barnsley's reveal today; bad, bad and bad! Weird American celebration design and a rubbish fade that looks like the shirt was washed on the wrong temperature. So cheap looking and they're charging £50 for one!
  15. I'm not sure he's been forgotten, more a case of the player who plays in his position has had the season of his life! There was no way Langstaff was getting dropped for our run in. I'm also pretty sure he had a knock when he joined and it was quite late in the season too so he didn't exactly have much time to make a big impact. We'll see more of him this season, unless Macaulay starts the season off in a way that suggests he's out to break his own goal-scoring record!
  16. Yeah I'm not someone who's overly fussed about the fixtures, we're going to have to play everyone twice at some point! I'm not particularly fussed about the order but a home game would've been nice to start on. I guess on a personal note we've got a home game on my birthday weekend so that's a game I'll look forward to!
  17. The only reason I think some fans aren't that overly excited is because they're also in our EFL Trophy Group, so we'll be seeing them twice. I'm not too fussed either way just glad it's a home tie really!
  18. Yeah, he’s someone I don’t know much about so reading the views of some Port Vale fans who are not particularly fussed he’s left is slightly concerning. They didn’t think he was good enough for them in League 1 but I know to take those opinions with a pinch of salt. I remember Bradford fans saying Chicksen was awful and Scunny fans didn’t think much of Wootton! I’ll judge him after he’s played in goal for us, hopefully he’ll turn out to be a good signing. We've still got Slocombe and who knows, if Tiernan gets a loan to a National League side and does well maybe he'll turn out to be our future number 1!
  19. Yeah really strange signing, in terms of being completely unexpected. After a season hampered by injuries, I'd have thought the coming season would have been the one where he'd have a right go at getting into Aberdeen's first team. That's why he moved there in the first place surely! Maybe he hadn't settled there, even so I can't see why he'd drop back to where he started after getting released by Newcastle. It just feels like he's taking a big step back, he was a top National League player, that's the lowest level he should be at.
  20. Luke Williams trying to fit Austin, Scott, McGoldrick, Jones and now Crowley into the same team at the same time... Exciting signing that's for sure. He had a very good season for Birmingham (in the championship) and then got shafted by a new manager who didn’t want him by all accounts. He’s played a lot of first division football in Netherlands too and look how impressive Ruben was and he’d only played second tier! I think we’ve got a good’un here.
  21. Yep, agree with pretty much everyone else, delighted he accepted the contract renewal. You’ve made the right choice Kyle, here’s to another successful season of captaining us!
  22. He only played for 90 minutes 9 times last season and didn’t feature in Kidderminster’s run in or play-off campaign. So hardly a key player for a NLN side, I’ve not watched him play but that suggests to me he's too far off the level we’d want. If we signed him we’d have to send him out on loan. Don’t know if financially that makes much sense. So right now the £150k looks like a good deal! That’s not to say he’s not capable of fulfilling his potential, took Colby Bishop a few seasons in non-league to get going but he was just one from hundreds we’ve released that have got back into the EFL. Who knows what will happen but right now I’d say taking him back would be a bit of risk.
  23. I thought that too but the media have been reporting something similar between Mason Mount and Man Utd and no-one seems to care so obviously not! I don’t like when players try and force moves, don’t sign a contract with the club in the first place if you don’t want to be there. He also signed for Brentford when they were in the Championship, so he’s got a lot of thanks to give them. I get players wanting to move on but I totally agree all this talk just be kept private, let the clubs negotiate a deal and if it can’t be done get your head down and show them why they should’ve paid that bit extra for you. Seems easier to throw a strop though, but this just makes me think less of these players.
  24. I can’t really begrudge him of moving on, as much as I would have loved him to stay, he completely deserves it. I wouldn’t have predicted Oxford either, I actually thought he might have had a good offer and go somewhere overseas in Europe... Anyway fantastic player and I’m so pleased he finished his time with us on a promotion. Been a joy to watch him play and I’m sure he’ll be a great at Oxford. ???? ????
  25. I get why people were cautious about signing McGoldrick. Signings like David Vaughan probably linger in the memory, but he wasn’t offered a contract having just had one of his best seasons to date. Goals, assists and just general quality play, he cleaned up at Derby's end of season awards too. The reaction from pretty much all of Derby’s fans tells a story too, they’re gutted and only have good things to say about him. Honestly, I’m really looking forward to seeing McGoldrick in a Notts shirt next season.
