  1. Sounds promising. Apparently he likes to go swimming in Scottish lakes to unwind. But I'd take that with a inch of salt as nobody has ever been able to spot him.
  2. Looks like the standard LinkedIn blurb to me (when I read texts that begin "I held a presentation and we discussed X Y and Z my eyes glaze over, sorry). But it's interesting that he's involved with Football Radar now. I wonder if we'll be seeing him at Meadow Lane again at some point in the future?
  3. @JustLikeJuve, you named two jokers, so I've only entered the top one (Lincoln v Mansfield).
  4. Middlesbrough 2-1 Portsmouth Sunderland 0-2 Burnley Charlton Athletic 1-1 Bolton Wanderers Lincoln City 1-1 Mansfield Town (joker) Cheltenham Town 2-1 AFC Wimbledon Newport County 2-0 Accrington Stanley Rochdale 1-2 Forest Green Rovers Sutton United 2-0 York City
  5. "Cup shirts" are yet another scourge of modern football, but perennial Bundesliga strugglers VfL Bochum have managed to take them to a new level. This summer, Bochum unveiled a special light blue cup shirt with "HG 4630 Bochum" printed on the arm. This was part of a sponsorship with the famous singer Herbert Grönemeyer, who comes from the city. About 4,000 fans ordered the shirts, only to be told they would have to wait until October for delivery. Last weekend, Bochum played in the first round of the German Cup. As you guessed, they lost. And they weren't even allowed to wear the shirts due to a colour clash...
  6. Great performance yesterday. Crowley and Jones were outstanding (and must be kept!), but in general we were a class better than Grimsby. They get stick sometimes, but credit must go to the recruitment team who have a knack of bringing in proper footballers who no one else seems to have in their sights. We saw the result of that on the pitch last night. There were some borderline calls and lady luck did help us out at times. I'm not convinced that Crowley handled the ball for his first and Jatta was about level for his goal, but if we had VAR neither goal would have stood. I also think Grimsby would have had a penalty as Hinchey was nowhere near the ball. But we were much the better side and would have won regardless. Finally, 10,000 on a Thursday night is amazing. I remember being glad to get more than 4,000 for midweek games.
  7. The poor bloke. Jodi Jones came back from a succession of major injuries, but not everybody does. It's doubly bitter as last season could have been the making of him, but by the time he's back he'll have had two Football League seasons with barely a handful of appearances to his name.
  8. That's a bit beyond me I'm afraid - maybe @Chris can shed some light on it? You're down as following the forum. Have you selected "An email when new content is posted" under your follow preferences? As a rule of thumb, when Notts are playing, there'll be a prediction league round on.
  9. Yes I did! On the plus side, I was finally able to cast it to my TV using Chromecast. iFollow has never managed that in several years. I had my stream running a few minutes before kick-off. But I also heard the "stuttering" and ended up switching the sound off. I thought it might have been an issue with one of the microphones - did it sound like that on the radio too? It also threw me out of the stream at about the 70-minute mark and I couldn't get back in until the 87th minute. It's been a frustrating experience so far, but it'll be good when it works.
  10. We're up and running now! I try to post the fixtures on a Wednesday for Saturday games. Good luck!
  11. Time to get the crystal balls out again! These games kick off at 3pm on Saturday, and remember your joker! Middlesbrough v Portsmouth Sunderland v Burnley Charlton Athletic v Bolton Wanderers Lincoln City v Mansfield Town Cheltenham Town v AFC Wimbledon Newport County v Accrington Stanley Rochdale v Forest Green Rovers Sutton United v York City
  12. Apologies for the delay, the mobile app removed all the formulas from my spreadsheet. I'll think of something better next time. Anyway, the results: Norwich City 2-2 Blackburn Rovers Watford 3-0 Stoke City Blackpool 0-3 Stockport County Reading 2-0 Wigan Athletic Crewe Alexandra 0-5 Chesterfield Grimsby Town 3-2 Cheltenham Town Hartlepool United 0-0 Southend United Woking 0-2 Gateshead --- Here are this round's scores. Congrats to @super_ram and @gtownjohnno on hitting double figures, while @cheeky~k8 is our first player to score nul points... --- And we have a league table! @super_ram and @william1984 lead the way, but there's a long way to go... --- The third round is online now! Thanks for playing, see you over there
  13. Folks, it's Sunday, Saturday was yesterday. I'll post a couple of reminders next time to help with your timekeeping ???? I'll try to post the scores this evening (I'm on the road so I'm using my mobile). For those of you who didn't post on time, the good news is that we have 44 rounds left and loads of points to play for!
  14. Sorry @thommo and @allardyces tash, the games have already finished! I'll calculate the scores when I get my abacus out.
  15. Norwich City 2-1 Blackburn Rovers Watford 1-1 Stoke City Blackpool 0-2 Stockport County Reading 1-1 Wigan Athletic Crewe Alexandra 0-2 Chesterfield (joker) Grimsby Town 1-0 Cheltenham Town Hartlepool United 0-2 Southend United Woking 1-2 Gateshead
  16. Now it's time for our second round, and there are still 1215 points to play for! These matches all kick off at 3pm on Saturday, and don't forget your joker! Norwich City v Blackburn Rovers Watford v Stoke City Blackpool v Stockport County Reading v Wigan Athletic Crewe Alexandra v Chesterfield Grimsby Town v Cheltenham Town Hartlepool United v Southend United Woking v Gateshead
  17. The app has been updated and PiesPlayer now actually works. I actually managed to stream the highlights of the Tranmere game to Chromecast, which is something iFollow was never able to do. Unfortunately the audio commentary was missing for a lot of yesterday's match, although the club said it wasn't a fault at their end and many other clubs were also affected.
  18. I'd have played Bass to help him settle in, but apart from that it looks like a strong team and a strong bench. Three players make their first start for us, I'm particularly interested in what Edwards has to offer.
  19. Pure tinpottery. And why did the referee allow them to kick off like that at all? Did he think they'd manage?
  20. You never know @Megan_Elizax. But take a picture of the table just to be safe @CliftonMagpie you'd better hurry up and join in, there are only 1215 points left to play for
  21. He started and was taken off after 80 minutes. That surprised me a bit given he only signed the day before. As good as they are individually, playing Nemane and Jones left us badly lacking defensively. Time will tell whether the club have done the right thing.
  22. The results: Barrow 1-0 Crewe Alexandra Gillingham 4-1 Carlisle United Harrogate Town 0-2 Bromley Salford City 0-2 Port Vale Altrincham 1-0 Woking Boston United 0-3 Rochdale Halifax Town 2-1 Barnet Southend United 1-1 York City --- So these are the scores for the first round. Congratulations to our first leader @william1984, and honourable mentions also go to @liampie, @Megan_Elizax and @thommo. A small word of warning here - I'm using a new spreadsheet this season, but I checked some of the scores manually and everything seems to be correct. We're off to a great start, thank you all for taking part! The next round will cover Saturday's games, so I'll post the fixtures on Wednesday. See you all then!
  23. The only thing I really want it for is PiesPlayer. I suspect it isn't actually finished yet, but was rushed out in time for the start of the new season. I hope it gets better.
  24. We have them in our garden, they're beautiful birds (even when they're dissecting mice on the roof of our shed). I recently found out that "pie" is the older term for magpie (magpie came from maggie-pie, a pet name for them). The pastries were then named after them in honour of mapies' habit of collecting random items. There's also a brilliant song about them:
  25. Did it also keep buffering and showing a little grey circle @Fan of Big Tone? I checked my Internet speed at first, but now I'm certain the problem was at their end.
