  1. I like them, but I have to watch them on my own! I prefer psychological horror to the "man with hammer/chainsaw/knife runs after screaming woman" type. The Shining, The Exorcist, Psycho... I really enjoyed Jeepers Creepers right up to the end, which I found really anticlimactic. If you like ghost stories, you could do a lot worse than look up Uncanny on BBC Sounds. Some of those really hit home.
  2. A woman banged her head. And there's a crazy golf course nearby, which takes up the bulk of the story despite being irrelevant. I'm guessing they had a minimum word count to stick to!
  3. Not sure what people were expecting for what's not a guaranteed starting spot. The Vale fans I've read online acknowledge that he was a key player when they were promoted, not least for his performance in the playoff final. And let's not forget he's only 23, which is really young for a goalkeeper. Yet he's already got lots of first team experience as part of a team that won promotion out of L2, and in the division above. Now he'll have to push on, but there's plenty of potential to grow and improve.
  4. Given the timing of it and the club's "disappointment", it seems that it was Neal's decision. It'll be interesting to see where he ends up next, hopefully not Crawley as that could be a tough gig next season.
  5. Welcome to the pleasuredome!
  6. We're away on the first and last day, and if there aren't any postponements our 5,000th League game will be away at Gillingham. FGR away on the final day is not ideal if there's something at stake. Donny on Boxing Day might be tasty. Might get myself down for the Bradford game! https://www.nottscountyfc.co.uk/matches/fixtures/
  7. I'm on the fence about a new goalkeeper as well, but Slocombe seems to be expecting competition. Definitely another CB with a bit more height. As for the wing backs, Randall tends to play on the left, so he'll probably be the more attacking alternative to Chicksen. On the right we've got Jones and Adebayo-Rowling, but I don't know what shape he'll be in after his injury. Jones could also play in the Rodders spot. In theory we're covered, but I'd be happier with an extra one, maybe a young loanee?
  8. Good point there. We play with one up front, so he's already competing with Langstaff, McGoldrick and Scott for that. And we've got Crowley and Austin for the Rodders position, and all three of the other strikers can play there too, so his chances don't look good. I don't think the club actually planned to sign another striker before McGoldrick came available, but now it's left Morias looking a bit too far from the first eleven, at least in theory. The proof of the pudding is in the eating though. I was sceptical when we signed Stallard as we'd already signed a bunch of strikers, and I had no idea when he'd actually play. But he forced his way into the picture and was a massive success.
  9. The whole saga is really poor, our promotion was hardly a surprise. Grimsby had an open top bus tour when they won the playoffs last season. Even the Stags paraded through the empty streets of Mansfield in a Stagecoach bus. But for our historic, unique and record-breaking season? Nothing. Quite right too, it isn't the club's job to cover the council's backside. How would it have worked anyway? Some of our promotion winners have moved on, and we've made new signings who weren't involved last season. What do they do, stay at home? If we go up again I'm expecting a full-on fireworks display.
  10. Lovely interview. There was talk of him wanting to finish his career at Notts when this move was still in the rumour mill, but I just about dismissed it as wishful thinking from fans. It's brilliant that it happened. Just had a thought. If we play his previous club, would it be the County derby?
  11. This is great stuff, I really liked him when he was Lincoln manager. Maybe a tad old at 44 though ????
  12. Black Mirror. Haven't seen From yet, but it sounds interesting.
  13. Maybe they bought him to balance out the Fitzsimons effect? ????
  14. This is a lovely moment, thanks for sharing! In the newspaper article I read, I think he says that James Maddison was his best friend at Coventry when they were young players. But this is nice all the same!
  15. When I saw the title, I thought it would be about Black Mirror. If you haven't seen it yet, you should. Right now.
  16. That's quite bizarre. Either they're chucking a wheelbarrow full of cash at him, or he's selling himself woefully short. He should be at a League club. He didn't play a lot at Aberdeen, but he did spend most of the season injured.
  17. Delighted about this! I can kind of understand the rumours. It did take a long time, and he also joined Notts from a team in the same division so it wasn't inconceivable. And of course other clubs are going to be interested. But us fans don't know the whole story - it may have been a done deal in principle the whole time. I'm also relieved as I was more nervous about losing Cameron than Rodders. He'd have been harder to replace as he's instrumental to the way we play. Just hope the club have insisted on a no-mullet clause this time...
  18. * Age backwards: 34 ???? * Steak or Seafood: Steak, but not mad keen on either * Italian or Chinese: Italian * Pepsi or Coke: Who cares? * Chocolate or vanilla: Chocolate * How many tattoos: None * Ever hit a deer: No * Last text from: Mrs Sausage * Favourite season: Autumn * Broken bones: None * Beach or Mountain: Beach, but with a cool breeze * Dogs or cats: Dogs. 19. I kind of understand players wanting to make the step up. It's a short career and he might not get another chance. But by going public like this he's burning his bridges and attempting to force Brentford to accept whatever Spurs are offering. It undermines Brentford's negotiating position, and that's a shabby way to treat the club. These things should be said behind closed doors, not to the media. Also, I thought personal terms were only discussed once a transfer fee had been agreed? Wouldn't this be an illegal approach?
  20. I can usually take or leave international football, but I'd have made an exception for this to see a Notts player in an England match! Sadly I was already back in Germany, so I only saw the highlights. There was a big article on Jones in yesterday's i newspaper too. He's a gem - if we treat him well, he'll treat us well.
  21. That's fair @Chris, we've experienced hands-on owners quite a few times, and they're the reason we plummeted four divisions. So maybe I'm scarred! It's hard to say exactly how involved the brothers are from the outside, but my impression is that they largely stick to the financial side. It's certainly worked well so far. Chances are they've learned a lot from Jason Turner over the last four years. Maybe they've added a potential successor to their contact book over that time?
  22. I've been logged out too. I just go back a step and select PON from my shortcuts, and I'm magically logged in again. It's a fairly simple workaround while the devs perform their exorcism.
  23. I don't really agree with @Chris that the brother's need to be more hands-on. Until now they've set (and stuck to) a strategic direction, brought competent people in who can make it a reality and left them to do their job. It's been a recipe for success so far. I'm sure they'll find an experienced football administrator who fits the ethos of the club and is a good communicator with staff and fans alike.
  24. @AmericanPie HSV got relegated to the second division five years ago (prior to that they were the only team to have played in the Bundesliga in every season since its creation in the 1960s). Since then they've become something of a promotion escapologist, finding increasingly comical ways to mess it up right at the death. This season they missed out on automatic promotion thanks to their rivals scoring in the tenth minute of stoppage time on the final day, and lost the playoff against Stuttgart. Hannover have been treading water in Bundesliga 2 for a few years and are more likely to go down again than up.
  25. He was a first team regular at Stevenage, and they're in League One next season, so prising him away from them would have been quite something. No idea if there was any truth to it, but he did sound like the kind of player we'd be interested in.
