  1. Welcome to the site. You won't run out of discussions to add your thoughts to and there's a lot of very good content. I do hope that you will join in from time to time @nottsfan81. You don't have to be prolific at posting, but a team player is always nice. It's great to be welcoming you to PON.
  2. There's no doubt that within Macaulay Langstaff's first season at Meadow Lane, he's rewritten history and etched his name into folklore. For the sake of wanting to keep him a little longer, I would say he's had a fairytale season, but it could become legendary! Provided he signs a brand new 10-year deal and sells any movie rights to his life to me. I'll act as his Hollywood agent.
  3. I hope that come the ceremony, everyone turns up in their most stylish jet black suit. I'll be disappointed if it's anything less!
  4. Superb feature, one which has clearly sparked a healthy response from the fans. It's like me stepping into a goldmine. So many excellent comments off the back of your well thought out and very enjoyable read @Simon Clark. Thanks for contributing it to the Pride of Nottingham.
  5. I think you're right. That's why sites like the Pride of Nottingham do a great job. Jackie Sewell will always be a legend of the game. It was such a sad loss to the footballing world when he passed away.
  6. From Tommy Lawton, Jackie Sewell to Lee Hughes, Notts County has seen its fair share of talented players over the years. Who stands out as the best? What makes him so special to you?
  7. I am eagerly anticipating the forthcoming match between Notts County and York City, and I cannot wait to read the post-match comments. As a devoted fan, winning against York is the main objective, and I hope that the team puts on an impressive performance that captivates the crowd. A strong display can generate a feel-good factor that will carry the team into the playoffs. I have been impressed by the efforts of Luke Williams, and I am confident that he will lead the team to victory. With his leadership, along with the hard work and dedication of the entire squad, I am predicting a strong and positive scoreline in Notts County's favour. A 3-0 win.
  8. Is it possible that the person in question is Jeff Astle?
  9. I have considered paying for a season ticket despite living in the US, but I never have because it seems daft and possibly a waste of resources for the club. Instead, I buy merchandise to the tune of twice the amount, just to cover it. After COVID, I even gave some shirts to my neighbors who expressed an interest in UK football. Supporting the club in my own way feels good and I know that my contribution is making a difference.
  10. Winning against Maidstone 5-2 was a great accomplishment. Credit must be given to the opposition for getting back into the match. Jim O'Brien played exceptionally well it seems and it's good to see Cedwyn Scott getting on the score sheet. The confidence must be high! In the next game against York City, any signs of nerves need to be cut out to ensure a strong performance.
  11. Jim is a true hero of Notts County and should be respected as a playing legend. His contributions to the team and the sport will always be remembered and appreciated by fans and players alike.
  12. ????Jimmy in the middle, what a superb result! Great job by the team.
  13. Congratulations to Wrexham on winning the title! Both teams have pushed each other throughout the season and without that close rivalry, it might have been a different story. I also want to passionately and genuinely praise Ryan Reynolds for his kind comments about Notts. It’s great to see such sportsmanship.
  14. I appreciate Williams’ honesty about the team’s focus on improving their performance for the recent game in Kent. It’s good to hear that they’re not making excuses and are pushing for better. It sounds like he got the response he wanted.
  15. It sounds like a thrilling match unfolded between Notts and Maidstone United. To read about them coming away with a resounding 5-1 victory must have been a delight for all involved. Goalkeeper Archie Mair, despite making some crucial saves along the way, he didn't quite managed to keep a clean sheet. All in all though, the team demonstrated true grit and determination to earn themselves three points on the road in their last away game of the National League season. The highlight of the evening undoubtedly belongs to Jim O'Brien, bagging himself a rare hat trick. Heading into injury time, he stepped up to take a penalty which sealed his place in the history books alongside the likes of Mark Stallard and Mark Draper. There has been talk of many standout individual displays on show during this encounter. Ruben Rodrigues provided two assists and put in some dangerous crosses, while Cedwyn Scott returned from injury to make an impressive impact up front and set up one of O'Brien's strikes. Notts must keep focused on their final home next weekend.
  16. This is a fantastic idea. Unfortunately, I can tell that I am too late, but even then I am not sure I would have correctly guessed. There have been a few players who worked in the building trade before making their debut and after retirement.
  17. All Notts can do is go out and win. If Wrexham wins the title, then so be it. For that reason, I hope nobody is focusing too much on that result.
  18. It sounds like the Wrexham defeat played heavily on the players' minds and caused a bit of a setback in play. Usually, I think a goalless first half isn't anything to be disheartened by. You have two teams in close contention with each other, one of which is desperately trying to secure third place. It sounds as if the win became a lot easier after the first goal went in. It sounds like a good win to me!
  19. Oh, this just sounds like something that people in science speculated on as a joke to see if anyone would buy into it. It has that conspiracy theory feeling, just like the idea that the Earth is flat, the Moon is occupied by aliens, and the Earth is hollow.
  20. As I haven’t been in the best of health and have therefore been unable to give much thought to Notts, this is by far the most useful thing I have read. It’s pretty much a catch-up for exiles like me.
  21. From what I saw in the highlights, Notts County's defense looked disconnected and made very poor mistakes that led to all three goals for Wrexham. It didn't seem like Wrexham was a better team, they just handled the occasion better. The most disappointing thing from my perspective is that Notts County threw away a perfectly good lead due to mistakes that could have been avoided. Notts scored two good goals, but Wrexham made them work hard for those goals. Wrexham made the mistake of handling the ball near the end, but they didn't get punished for it. However, Notts County's poor defending only punished themselves.
  22. Was that not Michael Petrasso? As far as I remember, Zeli Ismail scored a couple of penalties, but I don't think he ever played exceptionally well beyond the level he was expected to perform at.
  23. It's not really a matter of the other team being better, it's more about how they handled the situation and made the most of the support from their home crowd. I watched the highlights and all of the other team's goals made it seem like Notts County couldn't defend well. For example, the first goal was confusing because our player fell down too easily. On the second goal, nobody was guarding the far post and the goalkeeper had no chance when they were left wide open like that. The same player who fell down easily for the first goal also made a mistake for the third goal. Their poor defending was really apparent.
  24. It would have been great if the club had stayed in the top position, but the fact that they managed to close the gap and even briefly take the top spot, despite the odds being against them, is still a success in its own way.
  25. It looks like Luke Williams has found a good way to handle fixture changes by not letting them become a distraction. This allows the club to focus on what really matters, rather than getting caught up in a debate that doesn't affect the season.
