  1. I think we have players who can cause problems for other teams, but the main thing for me is to provide Macaulay Langstaff, or whoever else, with plenty of chances on goal. I do think Luke Williams is right about the way he’s going about things.
  2. I think there will be mistakes at times by both sides; it just depends on whom it will prove to be more costly towards. I can see a draw happening, which seems the most likely outcome. It would be nice if Notts could get off to a win, but the season can be a slow race, and a point on the opening day isn’t something to knock.
  3. This season could be an exciting one for Notts indeed. The pre-season revealed an impressive combination of sustaining a defensive stronghold and executing smooth attack strategies. Especially with the depth of the squad, and the evident team chemistry, it appears there is a high chance they'll rise to challenges. The diverse recruitment made for fitting substitutes for each position, suggesting a healthy rotation system.
  4. From what I have seen, he is a very intelligent defender, physically strong and with a decent level of pace. I don’t mind loan signings like this, as it makes sense to bring in someone who will have to work hard but isn’t guaranteed to start. He looks like a very promising player, so I hope we can help him on his journey while seeing the best from him on the pitch.
  5. It's good to see a seasoned player like McGoldrick reiterating the importance of hard work and fitness. He seems to genuinely understand the responsibility he has towards the younger players and is keen to set a good example. His comment about being in the wrong game if you don't enjoy the hard work is absolutely spot-on. All the best to McGoldrick and the whole team for the upcoming season.
  6. Super's affection for Notts and Derby County is impressively enduring. Anyone can fall in love with a football team, but maintaining that love through trials and tribulations, and it with kindness towards another club is a rare feat. His experiences at various matches with two different clubs were likely full of mixed emotions, and it impresses me how he accepts the highs and lows, seeing them as integral parts of supporting a football club.
  7. A team that works hard and has fun together is one that's sure to give its best on the field. Well done to Williams for recognising and fostering this within his group!
  8. Williams knows what he’s doing. I think the Boston friendly was a good test of frustration and determination to get the winning goal. Scott did well to put away O’Brien’s cross, but there were chances that could have gone in and on another day may have done so.
  9. Just as I saw the Stoke City game as a good lesson for observing Notts’ defensive struggles and lack of possession, I think the Boston United game was useful for the amount of ball we had and how they made the players use it. It was a game that, a while ago, Notts would have lost or drawn - most likely lost due to one attack that caught the players off guard.
  10. Pleased to see that Williams is maintaining professionalism and prioritising player welfare. His approach towards the whole injury situation instils confidence in the coaching and medical staff.
  11. I hope Southend manages to overcome this and come back stronger. It’s not nice to see a team struggling to exist. Their fans have been massively let down by the owners.
  12. Nathan Claxton looked like a good player. Does anyone know if he featured in the Telford United game?
  13. We're happy to have you as part of the PON community, @BeestonPie.
  14. Great to hear Luke Williams speak so fondly and respectably about Steve Cooper. Strong rivals, but there's no denying the class on both sides.
  15. Best of luck, Charlie. Thanks for making our games so much more interesting with your commentary!
  16. Routine friendly for both teams, neither side played badly and both gave their all. I think a draw would have been fairer, but when you give the ball away so cheaply, those are the situations where big teams will punish you. Luke Williams will have to focus a bit more on the team’s defending and passing from the back. Why we continue to make similar mistakes without noticeable improvement in this area of our play is concerning. Otherwise, I felt impressed.
  17. Reading this blog, it's clear that there is a wave of optimism washing over Notts County ahead of this season. The new signings offer reason for optimism, from the quality of skills and positions they cover, to the blend of experience and freshness they bring. Every player will bring his unique attributes in a way that will empower Notts. This is an enjoyable read.
  18. David McGoldrick, Dan Crowley, Aaron Nemane, Adam Chicksen all did some neat things. Will Randall seems to have a good understanding with Jodi Jones, who worked well with Sam Austin. I thought the players that came on made Notts look more defensive, but to my surprise, they took the game to Stoke. I thought the atmosphere was poor, but some fans tried to encourage the players in a positive way. We will always get a few idiots overreacting.
  19. I am just keen to get back to Meadow Lane and see how we do against Stoke City. Winning doesn’t matter; I just want to see us have chances and defend as well as we can.
  20. Macaulay Langstaff had a good run out; I thought the Nuneaton keeper pulled off some great saves. Finding the net early into pre-season can build confidence. A striker thrives on having chances, and I do feel that, with the way Luke Williams has Notts playing, a good striker will score, but an exceptional player will net a few. It’s been a while since we’ve had a player so natural at finishing.
  21. In the first few games, Notts has a good chance of establishing themselves with the front runners of League Two. I think realistically, there may be several teams 10 games in that just need to find the right balance with their results in order to be a firm title or promotion contender. I would like for Notts to be in the running for either, yet provided we are clear from the drop, then we are fine.
  22. It's reassuring to see Williams focus on continuation from last season's style of play. He understands the importance of sticking to what has worked, while exploring necessary changes during pre-season.
  23. Good comments and insight from the fans, excellently written. I am also looking forward to the new season!
  24. Nemane's impact has been palpable. He's played a key role in our successful season. Well done, lad!
  25. Luke Williams has a talent for seeing the bigger picture. His handling and communication skills are part of what makes him a successful manager. I think he’ll do well with us in League Two, as we have more depth now.
