Notts County CEO Jason Turner has published an open letter on the Notts County website where he discusses the club's pre-season preparations and the changes put in place for the fans ahead of the new campaign. On the squad "Significant progress has been made in restructuring the squad in readiness for the new season. We’ve already added six new recruits, with the seventh to be announced later today. We may still see further new faces arriving over the next few weeks. On the new players Both John and I believe that every one of the players we’ve brought in so far strengthen the team and add depth to the squad. We’ve been delighted to add players who have enjoyed success at this level, in both the play-offs and promotion winning sides, and also played at a higher level. When considering player recruitment, it is imperative that we don’t just think of the coming season, but sign players that we believe are capable of performing at League One level in the future. On departing players "Kyle De Silva left last week by mutual consent and has since joined FC Eindhoven, whilst Mawouna Amevor also departed Meadow Lane yesterday. Filip Valencic and Ronan Murray will not be returning to train with the club, and we wish all these players our very best wishes for their future careers. On season ticket renewals Talking of season tickets, I am delighted to report that sales have remained strong and on a par with last season, and would like to again thank those supporters who have already purchased for their continued support. The deadline has now passed for existing season ticket holders to retain their seats and these have now been released for general sale. On on-the-day ticket purchases I will be introducing a number of positive and beneficial changes to our match ticketing structure for the new season. To bring us in line with most other clubs, it will now be cheaper to purchase your League match tickets prior to the day of the game. When we announce our prices next week, you will notice reductions across the board for all supporters who purchase in advance. You can read the full interview on the Notts County website here. New Notts County signing Carl Dickinson says he opted to join the Magpies because of the prospect of a promotion challenge and also to be close to his family. The 28-year-old defender is one of six new arrivals at Meadow Lane since John Sheridan's appointment as manager last month as they look to rebuild from their 17th-placed finish in League Two last season. "We want be part of something special here, and that is gaining promotion," Dickinson told BBC Radio Nottingham. "It's something exciting that we want to be a part of. I want to make sure I hit the ground running and make sure this is a big year, not just for me but for the squad as well. "I want to make sure we're all in it together and striving for the same thing." Discussing his refusal to extend his deal at Port Vale and to play in the Midlands, he added: "I've got a family and it's still quite local to me. "You have to think about everything and sometimes it's not all about money. "I probably could have gone somewhere else. But would that have made me happy, being away from my family? "I had to weigh up a lot of things and I think this is the best option for me." New Notts County defender Richard Duffy says he aims to bring stability and experience to the squad and believes consistency is the best trait in the "grind" of League Two. The former Wales international put pen to paper on a two-year deal at Meadow Lane after rejecting a contract offer at Port Vale. Duffy also told the Nottingham Post that, if he and the rest of the team can keep up their game evenly across the 46 games of the season, the Magpies can enjoy success come the end of the campaign. On what he will bring to the team "I'd like to bring a bit of stability and experience (at centre-back). It's like anything in football, you've got to earn it, though. I've got to earn my place. "Hopefully I bring some consistency to the position. It's the same as with the team, it's not flash, but if you're consistent, you're going to do alright. On Notts County "You look at Notts and they've got what it takes to kick on. They've got the ambition and they're already building well for the season ahead. "Some of the signings the gaffer is making are really encouraging. Hopefully we get a good pre-season under our belts and then we can kick on. "It won't be easy next season. League Two is a grind. It's Saturday, Tuesday most of the way through, so the main thing is to be consistent. "If you can have 10 or 11 players every week on their game then you are going to win a lot more than you lose." "Let's take it one step at a time. The aim is League One so let's see where we are next season. "It's a tough league and we're going to have to work hard to get out of it." Notts County have completed the signing of midfielder Michael O'Connor on a two-year contract. Former Northern Ireland international O'Connor, who turned down the offer of a new deal at Port Vale, is the Magpies' sixth signing of the close season. O'Connor has made a total of 267 league appearances, scoring 51 goals, and has played 11 times for Northern Ireland. "With the signings we have made already we are going to have a go at going up into League One next year," O'Connor said. "I've signed a two-year deal and in that time I don't just want to get the club into League One, I want to get them into the Championship." In addition to O'Connor, Notts have signed Adam Collin, Matt Tootle, Alex Rodman, Richard Duffy and Carl Dickinson since the end of the 2015-16 season. Notts County have confirmed the signing of former Port Vale captain Carl Dickinson. The 29-year-old has been unveiled at Meadow Lane this afternoon, putting pen to paper on a two-year deal. A Stoke City academy graduate, Dickinson made his professional debut with the club in 2004 and helped the Potters win promotion to the Premier League, where he played five games. Dickinson then played for Watford, Portsmouth and Coventry City before joining Port Vale in 2013 and was appointed club captain a year later, making 127 league appearances at the club. He told the official Notts website: "I'm really looking forward to it and can't wait to get going. "I'm a leader, I like to be loud in the dressing room and get the lads going. "I'm going to show people I'm a good defender - I don't mind dishing it out a little bit, I'm hard working, wear my heart on my sleeve and give everything, day in, day out." Notts County have completed the signing of former Wales international Richard Duffy on a free transfer. The 30-year-old centre-half turned down the offer of a new contract at Vale Park and also rejected a switch to non-league Eastleigh. Duffy said he had a change of heart when the Magpies came in for him as he becomes John Sheridan's fourth summer signing, on a one-year contract. He told the Nottingham Post: "I agreed to sign with them but when John called I felt it was a chance I couldn't turn down. "I hadn't signed for Eastleigh but it was a tough one to turn them down at the end having said yes, I'd move to them. "John rang and that swayed me because it was the chance to play in the Football League at a big club." "I hope to bring a bit of experience and leadership." Duffy, who won 13 caps for Wales between 2005 and 2008, comes to Meadow Lane having spent four seasons at Vale, where he made 136 appearances for the club. Notts County have completed the signing of former Newport County winger Alex Rodman on a free transfer. The 29-year-old played 25 times for the Exiles last season in League Two, scoring four goals, and was managed by current Magpies boss John Sheridan. Rodman cited this as a key reason for joining Notts, telling reporters: "I've worked with him before - he came in when we were having a bad spell at Newport last year and he turned the tide around. "I know how he works, I know how he likes to play and what he wants from his players, and that was a big factor in me coming here." Rodman's signing follows that of goalkeeper Adam Collin and full-back Matt Tootle. Notts County goalkeeper Scott Loach has promised the club's fans that he and the rest of the players will want to right the wrongs of last season. The Magpies endured a horrendous campaign in 2015-16 as survived relegation in the last few games, finished 17th and suffered a number of high-scoring defeats. Loach told the Nottingham Post: "There are a few things that the lads who were here last season will want to put right. "The Mansfield game in particular was one that stands out because we didn't turn up, and that's me putting it nicely. "The fans are going to want us to redress the balance and so will the players, especially as they did the double over us last season. "Then there's the Carlisle result, not to mention a few others, so there are quite a few incentives going into those games. "It's exciting and I cannot wait to get started." It is a massive club - as soon as I heard Notts County were interested. "I wanted to come to a club I felt would be successful next year. It is a big club and from what I can see, everything that's happening at the club says it's going to be successful next season." How do you think Tootle will fare next season? Newport County have confirmed that Alex Rodman has turned down an offer of a new contract at the club, potentially paving the way for a move to Notts County. The 29-year-old winger, who played under current Magpies boss John Sheridan at Rodney Parade, scored five goals in 34 appearances for the Welsh club during the 2015-16 campaign. A statement on the Exiles website read: "The Club are aware of media reports linking Alex Rodman to Notts County. "Although it would be inappropriate for the Club to comment on another club, we can confirm that Club officials have been in dialogue with the player and his representative for a period of time. "Unfortunately this has resulted in Alex not accepting the offer made to stay with us. As a result we would like to wish Alex all the best for the future." Is Alex Rodman on his way to Meadow Lane? Notts County manager John Sheridan has claimed that he is hoping to make more signings in the very near future following the acquisition of goalkeeper Adam Collin. The former Newport County boss has admitted he is looking to strengthen all over the pitch, particularly in defence, but stressed the importance of competition within the squad. Sheridan told the official website: "I want competition all over the pitch. I don't want anyone thinking they're an automatic choice, that's not the way to be. "That's not the way I've worked with previous players and clubs. It's all about having competition for places as it will only make you better. "You can only go so far and offer the deals. I've made offers and I'm positive and confident that one or two will come back. "Hopefully over the next couple of days or week or so, we'll have a few new faces in." Notts County's purported move for Plymouth Argyle's Reuben Reid will not go ahead as the Magpies are not interested in the striker, according to reports. Speculation claimed that Notts were preparing to seal a move for Reid, who played under Magpies boss John Sheridan at Plymouth Argyle, after he was offered to the Meadow Lane outfit. According to the Nottingham Post, however, Reid is not on Notts' list of targets, with Sheridan reportedly opting to look elsewhere in his bid to bolster the team's front line. Notts are said to be interested in Jordan Bowery, who played under Sheridan at Chesterfield before being sold to Aston Villa, and has also turned out for Rotherham United and Oxford United. Notts County are hoping to wrap up a deal for Newport County's Alex Rodman, according to reports. Fresh from signing goalkeeper Adam Collin, the Magpies are said to be hoping to make the 29-year-old winger their second signing of the summer. Rodman, who played under Magpies boss John Sheridan at Newport last season, has turned down a new deal with Warren Feeney's side, alerting Notts to his potential availability. The former Aston Villa trainee, who has played for the likes of Grimsby Town, Gateshead, York City and Aldershot, scored five goals in 34 appearances for Newport during the 2015-16 campaign. Rodman has already shown what he is capable of to Notts fans, having scored a goal for Newport in their 4-3 defeat at Meadow Lane last December. Would you be keen on Rodman coming to Meadow Lane? Notts County have made their first signing of the summer by recruiting goalkeeper Adam Collin on a two-year contract. The 31-year-old joins on a free transfer after leaving Championship side Rotherham United, whom he helped to the second tier after playing an instrumental role in their playoff-winning campaign in 2014. Collin has played more than 200 league games in the past four seasons, one with Carlisle United and three at Rotherham, but he only played twice for the Millers last term, with a further three appearances during a loan spell with Scottish club Aberdeen. Speaking to the club's website, Collin said: "I am delighted to be here. It's another part of my career that I am looking forward to and I am looking forward to getting started. "I was out of contract at Rotherham and there was a bit of interest from other clubs. But my agent spoke to the manager here at Notts County and it was a no brainer." Manager John Sheridan added: "He's a very good goalkeeper. He's got great experience. He's had promotions from this division and he's played at a higher level. "I'm very pleased to get him, I know other clubs were interested in him but Adam has made the decision to come to us. He will be a really good asset for us." Notts were previously left with two goalkeeping options on their books as they released veteran keeper Roy Carroll at the end of last season. Are you happy with this signing? Notts County have revealed that they voted in favour of Premier League academy teams taking part in the EFL Trophy next season. In what will be a one-season trial, 16 tier one academy teams - most of which are in the top flight - will join the competition, formerly known as the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, alongside League One and League Two teams. In a statement on the official Notts website, a statement said: "The discussion at the EFL Conference confirmed the competition is in serious need of innovation to survive and a number of clubs even stated they would consider withdrawing from the competition if it was not boosted. "Many clubs struggle to break even from EFL Trophy matches, and numerous clubs voiced genuine concerns the competition would fold if it does not improve quickly, as the prize money and TV interest is low. "Notts County supported the decision to trial a solution to save the competition, which currently does not have a sponsor. This is for a set period of one year and if the proposals do not work, they will not be renewed for the following season. The prize money for the competition will be doubled for next season. "This is not in any way opening the door to Premier League 'B Teams' entering the league structure and Notts County would be vehemently against any such proposals. "While some supporters will disagree with the proposed changes, after careful consideration and discussion, we felt that it was important to explore ways to boost the competition and ensure that it could continue." The changes, which include the introduction of a group stage, were voted for by more than 50 percent of clubs in the bottom two tiers of the Football League and will see the Premier League increase the prize fund by £1m.

Notts County have expressed an interest in signing ex-Rotherham United goalkeeper Adam Collin, according to reports. The 31-year-old shot-stopper, who was released by the Millers at the end of the season just gone, previously played for Newcastle United and Carlisle United, as well as enjoying a loan spell at Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership. The Nottingham Post believes that Magpies manager John Sheridan is keeping a close eye on Collin, who helped the South Yorkshire club reach the Championship via the playoffs in 2014. Notts currently have just one goalkeeper, Scott Loach, on their books after Roy Carroll was released at the end of last season. Although goalkeeping coach Kevin Pilkington is registered as a player and can cover between the sticks, he tends to only be used as a reserve. Would Adam Collin be a good fit for Notts County? Notts County manager John Sheridan has admitted that fans are needing to "get over" the season just gone, but says he is doing all he can to bring new players to the club. The 2015-16 campaign was nothing short of traumatic for Magpies supporters as unrest in the stands and behind the scenes collided with unacceptable performances on the pitch in the club's first season back in League Two for five years. Sheridan told the Nottingham Post: "It's still early days but I am really looking forward to the job in hand. "At the moment I am just looking at trying to get pre-season games sorted out. We left it a bit late, but we finally got there. Now it's about looking at and talking to players. "It's really quiet at the moment, players are away and fans are still trying to get over last season. But I am working hard to get players into the club." Notts County CEO Jason Turner has confirmed that the club is no longer shackled by the transfer embargo placed upon them in May. A number of unsettled bills had led the Football League to place the restrictions on the club, leaving them unable to sign players until the outstanding payments had been made. These have now been dealt with, and Turner also revealed that Wes Atkinson and Haydn Hollis had signed contract extensions at Meadow Lane, with new signings possibly being announced next week. In his open letter on the club's official website, the chief executive wrote: "I’m pleased to inform fans that outstanding payments to football creditors were made by the club last week. This means we are no longer restricted by the temporary transfer embargo imposed upon us and we are once again able to be active in the transfer market. "We are now working hard to secure the core of the first team squad for next season, with a considerable number of calls being made and meetings held with players and agents. "Both Wes Atkinson and Haydn Hollis have agreed to sign the new contracts offered to them and we hope to be in a position to announce our first new signings for the coming season next week."
