Notts County sign defender Matt Tootle

Joe Jones

Notts County have confirmed the signing of former Shrewsbury Town defender Matt Tootle.

The 25-year-old, who made 16 appearances for the Shrews last season, pens a two-year deal at Meadow Lane.

Tootle told the Notts official site: "I’m delighted to get it over the line. It’s a big club and from what I can see, everything that’s happening at the club says it’s going to be successful next season."

Tootle came through the ranks at Crewe Alexandra's prestigious academy and went on to become a key player at the Railwaymen, making over 200 appearances, being appointed captain, clinching silverware and being named the club's player of the season in 2014.
