Jim O’Brien became Neal Ardley’s first permanent signing at Notts County when he joined from Bradford City in January 2019.

The experienced midfielder came through the ranks at Celtic and had spells with Dunfermline Athletic, Dundee United and Motherwell in Scotland before going on to play for Barnsley, Coventry City and Shrewsbury Town in England, returning north of the border with Ross County ahead of his switch to Bradford.
