The recent wins against Shrewsbury, Tranmere and Fleetwood have given us all a lift, so it might seem a strange time to be focusing on the discontent of fans, but that’s what I intend to do in this short opinion piece. We don’t always see eye to eye with our fellow supporters but I believe most Notts fans would agree on two things. Firstly, that for the players and new coaching team it has been an uncertain start to the season, and secondly that the mood of the fans is noticeably different thisUpdated by Chris

All the Notts County players that were offered contracts have re-signed, which speaks volumes for the atmosphere that people like Alan Hardy and Kevin Nolan have created around the club. Some people may dismiss players such as Curtis Thompson and Haydn Hollis signing the contracts offered to them, but as Adam Campbell signing for Morecambe has shown, players that were on the fringe of our squad are capable of signing for our League Two rivals. The atmosphere at recent Notts County home games really has been impressive, especially given the situation we have found ourselves this season. The optimism around Meadow Lane has made both the 2-1 wins over Crawley Town and then Cheltenham Town all the more enjoyable. Performances may require further work, with spells in both games being quite stale at times – the important factor is the fact we are able to win games. It's especially good to see two home wins back to back, and iAdded by Chris

With just two days to until the 2016-17 League Two season gets underway, Rob Davies has produced an extensive analysis of the Notts County squad which will be in contention for the first fixture against Yeovil Town on Saturday. The sensible, no-nonsense approach of John Sheridan has been typified by a summer of transfer activity that seems to have been led by something badly missing from Meadow Lane before his arrival – logic. Sheridan has ‘only’ made seven permanent signings this summUpdated by Chris

Soccer AM used to be a must-watch for all British and British-based football fans. When I was younger, I would get up before 9am and watch Tim Lovejoy, Helen Chamberlain and the rest of the gang serve up an entertaining slice of football pie to get me in the mood for the Saturday afternoon games. It was part and parcel of the whole football package. But that was then - I've not watched the show for years, and by the sounds of it, many other fans have given up watching it as well. Maybe it'sUpdated by Joe Jones

Finally, the 2016-17 League Two campaign is almost upon us and whilst a large amount of Notts County fans I know appear optimistic about the season ahead, I still remain fairly quiet with regards to how we'll do. I was asked a few days ago, by a fellow fan if I was excited or nervous - my reply was ‘neither’. I think much of what we can expect will come after about seven or eight games have been played - the first few is always a case of teams sussing each other out and I’m only reallyAdded by Joe Jones

When it comes to club football, and particularly in the lower leagues with each team's 50+ games per season, fans have a constant, near-dizzying supply of football to keep them busy for most of the year. And then, for about six weeks, nothing. No more games and very little news in drips and drabs, like the retained list coming out, new players coming in and ones already on the books penning new deals or saying "ciao adios I'm done". But now we're heading towards the end of June, the crUpdated by Joe Jones

In this featured article I am going to provide some information on the youth setup here at Notts County. I am then going to offer my opinions on If I think it is good enough and compare it to a few different academies in the EFL. I think for such a big club in the lower leagues it’s an important factor within a football club to have a solid base in the academy stages of football. On August 20th this year it was announced that Steve Chettle would be responsible for managing the club’s develoUpdated by PON_News

It’s a good time to be a Notts fan. We’re top of the league. Our manager recently signed a new contract. And we are through to the second round of the FA Cup. Alan Hardy has already said that we have an eye towards the January transfer window and this is something that excites many in the Notts fan base because despite being top of the league, we are looking to get even better, and we are trying to sustain our position in the top three of League Two. The stepping stones look already inUpdated by Joe Jones

The rumour mill has been in overdrive recently, with speculation linking Notts County's head coach, Luke Williams, with a move to Oxford United. However, it seems that the gifted coach is set to buck the trend and stay put at Meadow Lane, much to the delight of the Magpies' faithful. In the age of rampant player movements and footballing commercialism, loyalty is a virtue often overlooked. In Williams, Notts County has not just a supremely talented coach, but also a loyal servant to tUpdated by Chris

Of all the players Notts County have within their squad, it’s often the youngsters who are referred to as being the key in order to survive the drop from League Two. In January, the club reinforced itself with the arrivals of Jorge Grant, Marc Bola, Josh Clackstone and Tahvon Campbell. However, it was the arrival of experienced veteran striker Shola Ameobi that captivated the fans' excitement the most. I value the experience that players of Ameobi’s quality bring. There are quite a few stand out games this coming week. From Saturdays fixtures I've chosen three from the top end of League Two – Leyton Orient at home to Northampton, Plymouth against Mansfield and Portsmouth versus Bristol Rovers. Then on Tuesday Oxford United host Northampton. I've also picked out three games on Saturday featuring teams playing catch up – Accrington, Carlisle and Hartlepool have all played only 26 games. They also play on Tuesday. Notts have onUpdated by Chris

I have to say, Jorge Grant is not the only person linked to Notts County who thinks the team's campaign so far has exceeded his expectations. I've been pinching myself about just how well the Pies have done. And many other fans will also be somewhat incredulous about the season so far. Over the years we have been mentally engineered to prepare for, experience and cope with disappointment. So to be witnessing a club that, at present, is stable and performing well from top to bottom feels likAdded by Joe Jones

Why have we changed formation? If someone could tell me why, it would be great. But why? Why have we done this? In the last two recent games, Kevin Nolan has experimented a bit and changed to a new formation, switching from 4-4-2 to 4-2-3-1 with three central midfielders including Noor Husin, Matty Virtue and Liam Noble. This means Jon Stead is up front on his own with Jorge Grant and Lewis Alessandra on the wings. However, this recent change hasn’t worked as shown by successUpdated by Joe Jones

Tomorrow Notts will play The Minstermen at the Bootham Crescent Stadium, whilst the home side York City will hope to have the advantage from their form found playing in front their own spectators. However, York are currently glued to the footer of the table at 24th, with tomorrows game presenting them a chance to secure points to push closer to safety. York City have only won once within their last six league fixtures, having drawn two and lost the other fixtures. The MatcUpdated by Chris

Whichever goalkeeper you prefer, there is no doubt that Notts County have two very capable players in contention for the number 1 jersey in Adam Collin and Ross Fitzsimons, the debate on who should start has valid points for both keepers. However, I aim to explain the difference between the two and who I feel should be the first choice keeper for the Magpies. The knee injury to Collin during the 2-1 win over Barnet within League Two saw Fitzsimons step into the main role and during a hUpdated by Joe Jones

After a long season, and crashing out of the play-offs in dramatic style, the magpies now look to rebuild for the upcoming 2021/22 Season. It was made official by Notts County earlier this week that they would keep popular midfielder Michael Doyle. However, he would now be the head coach to assist Ian Burchnall for the important season ahead. The Irishman, who is also registered as a player, landed the role at the back end of last season after the dismissal of Maurice Ross.Updated by Chris

In a recent Fans' Forum event, Notts County's top brass opened up about the heart and soul of the club – its fans. Led by Chief Executive Joe Palmer and Head Coach Luke Williams, the discussion delved into the strategies, challenges, and the unfiltered pulse of the passionate fanbase. The Game-Changing Surge in Fan Support Joe Palmer kicked off the forum by tipping his hat to the devoted fans, acknowledging the remarkable swell in attendance over recent seasons. Amazing how much can change in just a number of weeks, eh? In fact, make that a number of days. The first week of 2017 saw Notts County's freefall into oblivion continue to pick up speed with eight goals conceded in their League Two fixtures at Cambridge United and Morecambe, consecutive league defeats number nine and ten, while Alan Hardy's takeover was reportedly in danger of collapsing. Then the takeover was completed as the old was out and the new was in, thank the gods and the staAdded by Joe Jones

Much like in politics, a week - or to be precise in this case, two - is a long time in football. When Notts County learned of their FA Cup fourth-round opponents, quite a lot of fans would have been happier to be up against Swansea City than against Wolverhampton Wanderers. After all, one is a team top of the Championship with momentum, players way too good for the division and shedloads of cash, while the other is a down-and-out team with morale the same as their position in the PremiUpdated by Joe Jones
