Alan Hardy has recently described what he is doing - and continuing to do - at Notts County as a "revolution". Given how the last 11 months or so have panned out, you wouldn't argue against it. This time last year, Notts were in the middle of a truly horrendous losing run which would go on to span 10 matches, and the atmosphere at Meadow Lane was understandably so toxic that Chernobyl would have felt like a spa weekend in comparison. And indeed, Hardy has done the conventional things r

The draw for the second round of the FA Cup has given Notts a home game against Oxford City, who play in the National League North. At first glance, it might seem like the Magpies have escaped the worst of the potential opponents, with the likes of Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers also in the hat (not to mention Scunthorpe United - part of me was thinking "we're gonna get them away aren't we?") But in truth, a non-league outfit from two divisions below Notts County whose confidence

There can be no doubt that Notts County have been very shrewd in the transfer market this summer. There is a good blend of experienced players who know the lower leagues inside out (Dan Jones, Shaun Brisley, Nicky Hunt, Lewis Alessandra) and players who have spent most, if not all of their career so far in non-league and are hungry and eager to make the step up (Terry Hawkridge, Ross Fitzsimons, Pierce Bird, Elliot Hodge). There are also loanees from a higher league (Jorge Grant, Ryan

So here we are in 2018. January, to be precise. A month where everyone's skint after a month of splurging on presents, food and general excesses, and a month where everyone promises themselves that they're going to carry through some resolutions, only to fail two weeks in at the first sign of winter malaise. In the world of football, however, it's pedal to the metal as not only are there plenty of fixtures to get through, but the transfer window reopens, cue players changing clubs and journ

Much like in politics, a week - or to be precise in this case, two - is a long time in football. When Notts County learned of their FA Cup fourth-round opponents, quite a lot of fans would have been happier to be up against Swansea City than against Wolverhampton Wanderers. After all, one is a team top of the Championship with momentum, players way too good for the division and shedloads of cash, while the other is a down-and-out team with morale the same as their position in the Premi

Soccer AM used to be a must-watch for all British and British-based football fans. When I was younger, I would get up before 9am and watch Tim Lovejoy, Helen Chamberlain and the rest of the gang serve up an entertaining slice of football pie to get me in the mood for the Saturday afternoon games. It was part and parcel of the whole football package. But that was then - I've not watched the show for years, and by the sounds of it, many other fans have given up watching it as well. Maybe it's

Thursday, just another day at Pride of Nottingham HQ, keeping tabs on the latest Notts County news from my super-plush office (dingy bedroom) and espresso machine (ASDA brand kettle and Nescafe), when I stumble upon this gem of an article. "Could Nottingham Forest and Notts County merge?" I spit my coffee out upon seeing these seven words. Great, that's another screen to be budgeted for. That's next week's sesh at the Beechdale out the window. Just what is this article on about? T

Notts County's season has finally come to an end, two weeks after the regular campaign was wrapped up. The fact we managed to extend the season by making the playoffs is obviously a sign that we have been heading in the right direction, and on the positive side it is nice to have been anxious about things in the top half of the table instead of the bottom like we had been for the previous four seasons. And of course, just the fact that we lost to Coventry City over two legs is no disgr

When it comes to club football, and particularly in the lower leagues with each team's 50+ games per season, fans have a constant, near-dizzying supply of football to keep them busy for most of the year. And then, for about six weeks, nothing. No more games and very little news in drips and drabs, like the retained list coming out, new players coming in and ones already on the books penning new deals or saying "ciao adios I'm done". But now we're heading towards the end of June, the cr

I’m a huge fan of the work Jorge Grant did when he was on loan with us, and by all counts, he’s a genuinely nice bloke, which is great to hear. In 2016-17, when we were in trouble following the John Sheridan fiasco, he missed only 2 minutes of the last 15 games and was instrumental in pulling us away from trouble. In 2017-18, he played 21 full games (plus an 88 minute game) and came off the bench 5 times, scoring 14 times and making 5 assists as we took our place at the top of the leag

This week, Notts County secured the signing of striker Kyle Wootton from Scunthorpe United having impressed during his loan spell at Meadow Lane this season. The striker signed a two and a half year deal with the fee rumoured to be around £60,000. Many Notts fans were delighted when the news emerged that the 23-year-old was signing on a permanent deal having been subject to much speculation during the Christmas period and the opening of the January transfer window. But just how impress

What a month April has been - and May is going quite well too! On 5 April, Juventus qualified for the Coppa Italia final, despite losing 3-2 against Napoli in the second leg - a Gonzalo Higuain double on the night meant an aggregate win of 5-4. The Argentine then scored two goals in the next game, against Chievo Verona in Serie A, for a 2-0 win. And then came the best result of the month - a brace from Paulo Dybala and a goal from Giorgio Chiellini gave us a 3-0 win over Barcelona

After qualifying from the Champions League group stage and sitting top of Serie A after 19 matches, it was a great February for our Juve: only victories. Beginning with the crunch clash against Inter, that we won 1-0 thanks to a great goal from Juan Cuadrado, we went on to earn three points in every league match in February, following the victory over the Nerazzurri with wins against Crotone, Cagliari, Palermo and Empoli. Even the first leg of the knockout stages of the Champions Leagu

During the end of June and during all July, Juve focused on strengthening the squad in the transfer market. Some of our boys have been sold: Romagna, Cerri, Pasquato, Leali, Cassata. After the bad defeat in the Champions League final, Juve's goal was to get to that stage again as soon as possible. Beppe Marotta, the Juventus CEO, has signed Douglas Costa on loan for €6m from Bayern Munich, goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny as Gianluigi Buffon's deputy for €12m, Mattia De Sciglio as a replac

With the season heading into the business end, March had plenty of chicanes for Juventus to navigate, but I'm glad to say we have done so successfully. We are in the quarter-finals of the Champions League after beating Porto 1-0 at the Juventus Stadium, which completed a 3-0 aggregate win, and we will be hosting Barcelona tonight! In Serie A, we are still top of the table with 77 points from 31 games, with Roma six points behind. We only played three league games, claiming two wins (ag

May was a month full of joy and satisfaction for Juventus. Starting with the victory against AS Monaco in the Champions League semi-finals, Juve then beat Lazio in the Coppa Italia final, thanks to goals from Leonardo Bonucci and Dani Alves. At the Juventus Stadium, which will be named the "Allianz Stadium" from July due to a sponsorship deal, we celebrated the sixth consecutive league, the thirty-fifth of Juventus' history. After these victories we had a dream to crown: the Treble.

November did not start in the best way for Juventus, but manager Massimiliano Allegri went for something radical - he inserted players like Douglas Costa, Medhi Benatia and Blaise Matuidi in the starting XI, while pulling the likes of Paulo Dybala and Alex Sandro off the bench. This 'breakthrough' gave its positive signals, 3-0 against Crotone in the league, then a 1-0 victory in Naples in the big-match Napoli-Juve, decided by Gonzalo Higuain, who also had a broken hand. On December 5,

Juventus's summer transfer business ended with a reinforcement in midfield, Blaise Matuidi, who came from Paris Saint-Germain and chose number 14, and a defender, Benedikt Howedes, who came from Schalke 04 and chose shirt number 21. Following the closure of the transfer market, our competitive fixtures started: in the Italian Supercoppa final, Juve lost 3-2 to Lazio, with a Paulo Dybala brace not enough to win. Dybala, aka "La Joya" (the jewel), is playing his first season with the num

In January and February, Juventus consolidated second place in Serie A and reached the Italian Cup semi-finals. After beating Genoa 2-0 in the last 16, the Bianconeri went on to face city rivals Torino in the quarter-finals. On December 23rd, a big Serie A match took place between Juve and Roma, where we won 1-0 - winner scored by former Roma player Medhi Benatia - then we won 3-1 over Verona. In the quarterfinals Juve beat Torino 2-0 and progressed to the semi-final against Atalanta.

So as I write this on the 26/08/18 Kevin Nolan has been sacked following a termination of his contract by the NCFC board following a 3-1 loss to Lincoln City. After around 18 months in charge it was with Mr. Hardy’s best interests to part ways with the ex- West Ham, Bolton and Newcastle midfielder. I am writing this article to understand the thought process behind his sacking, will we miss him? And is promotion still achievable? During Nolan’s time with the Magpies he managed 85 g

Fans were divided when Kevin Nolan was sacked as Notts County manager. Many fans believed he should have been given more time to turn things around at the club following a winless run of 6 games with many saying it is the players to blame as opposed to Nolan himself. But there were also fans suggesting it wasn't just the start of the season that was the tipping point it has been the clubs poor run of results since Christmas.  Kevin Nolan guided Notts County to the Play-Offs last season, onl

Over the years, we've had mixed experiences when it comes to management but Kevin Nolan and Alan Hardy look like being the real deal. Not only have they got a great connection with the fans but they also seem to have a great connection with each other. They both have an understanding of each other with Nolan setting out what he needs in terms of improving the squad and Hardy doing everything in his power to make that happen. From a fans perspective, this is great to see. Both a manager and
