‘All I’m Really Caring About’: McGoldrick’s Winning Mentality Shines

PON_News

In a riveting match that kept spectators on tenterhooks, Notts County clinched a 4-3 victory over Forest Green Rovers. The star of this spectacular showdown? None other than David McGoldrick, whose pivotal role saw the game swing back and forth like a pendulum.

McGoldrick, a key player in his team's performance, encapsulated the rollercoaster ride of the match: "Yeah, literally a game of two halves, I have to say. First off, I was in control. We've got two good goals, didn't have any real chances. And in the second half, you know, I think they've got a bit off track, didn't do the right things at times."

Indeed, the first half was dominated by McGoldrick who scored the decisive goals that sent the home crowd into ecstasy. Notts County seemed to be cruising towards victory.

"We don't ever go into a game where it's just all one-sided," McGoldrick added, highlighting the unpredictable nature of football. "You know, you gotta dig in sometimes. We did that a lot today. Like I said, we got the three points."

However, football is often described as a game of two halves and Forest Green Rovers had other ideas. The visitors staged an impressive comeback, equalising the score at 2-2.

Reflecting on the dramatic shift in momentum, McGoldrick stated, "I don't know, you know. You can do all the talking; you know, I think talking is good for the player. You know, but it's about what you do with the ball and positionally where you are. You know, but it happens; you know, it's a game of football."

Just when Forest Green Rovers seemed to have turned the tide, Notts County roared back into the lead. This was in part due to McGoldrick's unwavering determination and remarkable speed at 35 years old as he broke away to assist Macaulay's crucial goal.

"Yeah, I'm showing my pace at 35, you know," McGoldrick modestly admitted. "But yeah, it was good."

The match was not short on drama with both sides trading blows. In the end though, Notts County held on for a 4-3 victory thereby extending their unbeaten home record.

McGoldrick's impact on the game was undeniable, and he acknowledged the significance of the win: "We've got to win so that's all I'm really caring about."

With this exhilarating victory under their belt, Notts County now find themselves at the top of the table after nine games. However, McGoldrick urged caution: "Yeah, nine games, you know me personally; I didn't look at the table. You know I don't think you can start thinking anything nine games in."

He emphasised the importance of staying humble and focused as the season progresses with challenges lying ahead.

As this pulsating encounter concludes and dust settles down, Notts County and their fans will relish this moment while David McGoldrick's heroics will be forever etched in Notts County's history.

david mcgoldrick was class throughout the game, he played very well and he did show some pace to keep up with jodi jones. i thought the pass angle would be difficult for jodi to find mcgoldrick but it played through nicely. supposedly he winked to the kop before he scored. that would have been class if true!

All that is important is securing a victory, with commendable performances serving as a positive indicator. I would be content with an unattractive win, but that wasn’t the situation against Forest Green. We emerged victorious because we merited it and outperformed them throughout the entire 90 minutes. David McGoldrick has been exceptional and his goal was neatly executed.

The victory is paramount, and it’s evident that Forest Green Rovers put up a commendable fight. Despite appearing defeated before the second half, they demonstrated remarkable persistence. Particularly in the early stages of the second half, they performed exceptionally well to equalise. However, we displayed our superiority thereafter, treating their comeback more as a wake-up call. We mustn’t become complacent during matches like these, but it’s reassuring to know we possess the quality to turn things around. Even at 35, David McGoldrick is proving to be a sophisticated addition to the squad!

Forest Green managed to claw their way back into the match, despite being 2-0 down. One might have assumed it would be a more difficult feat, but they not only had a stroke of luck, but also displayed some excellent football to regain their footing. Troy Deeney was evidently the game-changer. They seemed to lack finesse in front of the goal, but Notts were far from being easy opponents. The goals were not due to a lack of effort from either team; it was simply one of those unpredictable football matches.

David McGoldrick’s seasoned skills were on full display throughout the match, demonstrating his exceptional quality. A player of his calibre deserves recognition and respect. The primary objective is victory, but the ability to regroup after a setback, such as returning to a level score line, reveals the tenacity of our players. This resilience is a positive takeaway from the game for both sides, highlighting each team’s determination to fight for the result.

McGoldrick was indeed the shining star of the match. What a fantastic representation of a never-give-up attitude! His importance in the pivotal moments only re-emphasizes his value in the squad. His pace and acute sense of game dynamics undoubtedly make him a force to reckon with. Here's hoping that he continues his spirited performance and helps Notts County conquer new heights.

Notts put on a great team show. Although both sides could have reduced individual errors, the game wouldn’t have been as exciting. The second half was particularly enjoyable with action at both ends. As a Notts supporter, it’s pleasing to see the team play well and maintain control. Forest Green also played seriously and showed quality.

McGoldrick demonstrates that not only is he a top player with undying spirit, but he's a valuable asset to Notts. His performance was just the right mix of bracing football play, quality scorings, and useful guidance to the team - a complete package! Baring teeth to challenges and ensuring a win is what exemplifies his 'winning mentality'. Looking forward to more games where we can relish his presence!

McGoldrick once again vindicated why he's an integral part of the team. It's brilliant how he dictated the match's rhythm and claimed control from the get-go. His two goals were not only beautifully executed, but they were what set the tone for Notts County. Moreover, his tireless effort and spirit to keep pushing, particularly during the second half, is laudable. It's players like him that craft thrilling football moments. Besides, let us not ignore his wisdom in recognising that we are just nine games into the season. Maintaining this winning mindset would be crucial for the progression of the season.

I didn’t see the game because I was on holiday but I’m pleased to read that McGoldrick was an integral part of the win, I said when we signed him that he would be a very very good signing at it’s proving the case. If we can keep him fit and injury free I foresee lots of goals and assists from him but that’s not his only contribution he will be a massive influence in the dressing room with his knowledge of the game with his years of experience and after playing in the top flight.

A victory is a victory, no matter how it comes. It’s crucial not to underestimate the importance of showing the quality and character needed to win a game, especially when the opposition has managed to claw their way back into it. Scoring two more goals after such a setback demonstrates real quality.
