Bristol C - Scouting Report

Chris

Bristol City find themselves in second place within League One with a game in hand of Swindon Town. The Robins will be hoping that Coventry City will win, whilst pushing on with their own campaign. Their games have been coming thick and fast due to them being in several cups.

The Robins have won four of their last six league games, whilst losing to both Crewe and Preston. Their recent games come in as a draw in the F.A Cup and a win in the JPT.

Run down of their last six games.

Saturday 13th December – Bristol City 1 Crawley Town 0

Saturday 20th December – Crewe Alexandra 1 Bristol City 0

Friday 26th December – Bristol City 2 Yeovil 1

Sunday 28th December – Gillingham 1 Bristol City 3

Saturday 3rd January – Doncaster Rovers 1 Bristol City 1 (F.A Cup)

Tuesday 6th January – Gillingham 2 Bristol City 4 (JPT)

The Players – Fact Sheet

Highest Goal Scorers; Aaron Wilbraham 13, Kieran Agard 8, Matt Smith 7 and Adent Flint 5.

Persistent Foulers; Derrick Williams 1 Red Card and 4 Yellow Cards, Wade Elliot 1 Red Card and 1 Yellow Cards, Antony Kay 6 Yellow Card, Aaron Wilbraham 4 Yellow Cards and Korey Smith 2 Yellow Cards.

The Key Players.

Kieran Agard is a lively threat, the former Rotherham United player scored 32 goals in 91 appearances for the millers and he joined Bristol City for an undisclosed fee.

He has the ability to pull in behind players and strike lethal finishes to seal games.

Emmanuel Jay-Thomas, JET as the fans call him is the player Bristol City often look to change games. He's a quality player on his day and he can mix passes, create play and generally lead the line weather this is from Midfield or as a Striker.

Aaron Wilbraham is another striker who can be menacing when presented chances.

Korey Smith, Wade Elliot and Joe Bryan are Swindon Town's key players within midfield. Wade Elliot is the creator within their play, whilst Korey Smith and Joe Bryan bombard their opposition and are very skilful at breaking down their counterparts.

Style of Play, Strengths, and Weaknesses.

Bristol City play very fluidly, switching the ball around from out wide positions back into the centre of the park. Overlapping play allows them to keep the ball moving forward, which enables them to quickly find themselves in good positions within the field to take a chance or create the perfect opportunity for one of their talented centre forwards.

Their main strengths are their talented players, however Steve Cotterill has them well organized within the 2014/2015 season which enables their key players to truly thrive on.

Weaknesses are direct play, with balls which go through the middle. Bristol City's defence appears to allow opposition players too much time on the ball, so if players are able to get in-front of them the Robins typically fail to defend adequately.

They're far from the perfect side, however their ability to create play and score will always counter their own mistakes.

I wonder how they will cope with their run of fixtures? This might be our way into the game. I am hoping for a draw but you never know.

It seems they will either win or we will, they have not draw bar the cup game.

Hopefully we can keep them quiet as we did at Meadow Lane.

i dont know about winning i just hope we can keep safe from any fallout, we need to get a draw but with it being so tough i dont see it.

they will probably win, we have not won a side in the top six this season.

upthepies - I think they'll cope fine with the run of fixtures, they have a good quality side and a lot of depth. Their bench would look strong in any top League One team, only way I see us getting something from the game is either playing exceptionally well or making sure we get on top of them.

Frustrate them and use their weaknesses to our advantage.

Liam - I have a similar feeling but we can't go into games writing them off. I think the defence will be fine, just quality will make the difference. I don't expect a major fallout in terms of how many goals we will concede. Remember we have Carrol in goal! ;)

I'll be there awaiting a long, difficult game and I am hopeful for a point.

JET has played a lot better this season, still he seems lacking in form. A player like that does not need it to do something special.

Lets take our chances Notts!!

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas was very disappointing last season, even by their own fans admission he wasn't the same player the year before.

This season he's been doing much better, yet the Ex Miller player is my concern.

He always seems to score against us!

If we can create chances and find some width, we might get some decent chances to score. I would hope Cassidy could find the net, yet I am hopeful we start with a change upfront.

Hopefully we'll put a couple of quick energetic forwards out on Saturday to put there centre halves under pressure, Aden Flint will win everything in the air but he is poor on the deck.

Good report as always mate

Hissy - He hasn't been all that good since FM13, last years and this he's shocking. I signed him for Q.P.R on FM14 and he was poor, worse than in real life last season!

He never seems to leave Bristol, which in real life I expect them to struggle to keep if they go up.

Northants Pie - Interesting point, I think if we don't focus on handling them they will punish us but I don't expect them to score many. Hopefully we do make some changes to the front, though I would still prefer Garry Thompson to be played there. We always seem likely to get something or at least score when he does!

Plus he's one of the few who wins aerial challenges.

I actually rate Aden but again you have a point, his passing can be quite limited.

Question is do we have the quality to cause the problems?

At least its away from home, we usually do better in those games but it would be nice to win one of the top teams.
