Jon Stead has described Notts County's signing of David Vaughan as a β€œcoup”.

The 35-year-old was snapped up by the Magpies following his departure from Nottingham Forest at the end of last season.

β€œIt’s a coup isn’t it?” Stead told the Nottingham Post.

β€œHe’s been at the top level and the way he carries himself and the way he controls the ball, he is very clever.

β€œHe is very relaxed and being a striker it’s somebody I look at and know that if I make that double movement, he will see it.

β€œAt time we might have lacked that a little bit last season which was that cutting edge and final ball. He will help us with that.”
