Notts County’s Jodi Jones: “The Fans Were Fantastic”

PON_News

Notts County winger Jodi Jones is "over the moon" after his team secured a much-needed win.

"More importantly, we had the three points. We really needed it," he said in his post match interview. "We had a bad start last weekend, but that's been brushed aside now, and I think we put in a good performance today for the fans."

Jones was also pleased with his own performance, saying that he was happy to see his name on the line-up. "There's a lot of competition. We've got fantastic players in the group, you know," he said.

"You never know if you're going to be starting or not because the way everybody trains is fantastic. So when I see my name on the line-up, it just makes me really happy because I try my best, I work hard in training, and it's finally paying off."

The fans were also a big part of the win, according to Jones. "The fans were fantastic. They were behind us all the time, the whole way," he said. "It felt like a proper game and their fans were decent as well, to be fair, but our fans were fantastic and without them, we wouldn't have won today."

Jones is also optimistic about his future with Notts County. "I feel good. It's the first time in a very long time that I felt good," he said. "When I came here last season alone, I felt like I was finally getting back to my best. And when I did sign the contract here, I did say that there was plenty more to come from me. You know, I feel like the fans haven't seen the best of me yet, and I still believe that because I still got plenty more in my locker and I can't wait to show it the rest of the season."

He also addressed concerns about whether his goal would be counted as an own goal. "It better be my goal," he said with a laugh. "To be fair, I thought about it when someone told me that it might be an own goal. And I'm pretty sure it was going towards the goal when it happened so yeah, I'm not too sure. But you know, I'm more happy with the three points and the boys' performance."

Overall, the 25-year-old winger is feeling positive about his team's prospects for the rest of the season. "That's fantastic," he said when asked about their aim for this season. "You know that was our aim last season to get here. And like I said we didn't have a great start being back here last weekend, but we knew we had to put it right today."

jodi did very well as a team player and individually, i think he would be my man of the match and its not something i usually agree with when the club sponsors choose. he did well, his crosses were excellent and he linked up well with the team. i dont think he will get the goal, but we know it was him who scored. the win is all that matters but i hope to see more goals from him this season.

Notts put on a good team display, and Jodi is right about the importance of the win. The atmosphere at Meadow Lane was very good; even the Derek Pavis stand, where I was sitting, joined in. It’s very much like Notts to play in a manner that makes them the underdogs in games, and I don’t really mind that, as long as it’s not too much of a setback. At 2-1, I thought it was over, but thankfully Jodi Jones showed his class with those two crosses.

To be fair, I didn’t hear as much nonsense after going behind or due to some of the mistakes, which was good. I think the majority of the Kop just wanted to support the lads, and the support wasn’t just when we scored or led the game; we sang throughout, despite a few quiet spells. I think that’s the encouragement the players need. It was there at Sutton, but I think nerves got the better of them. Jodi Jones showed his class as always; it was such a pleasing sight to see him take on the opposition. Hopefully, this result will be the boost we need to crack on.

Jodi Jones' performance was outstanding, and the future indeed looks promising for Notts County. His hard work and dedication are paying off already. In addition, his humble nature and positive outlook make him a captain material player. He's an absolute gem, and I can't wait to see him in the subsequent games.

Fantastic to hear such optimism and enthusiasm from Jones. Aside from his excellent on-field play, his humility and recognition of the team and fans' support show how grounded he remains. It seems clear with his spirit and dedication; we'll be seeing plenty more from him this season. Very well played, Jones!

It's heartening to witness Jones' enthusiasm and optimism about Notts County's prospects. His assurance about more to come from him for the fans is something we all look forward to. His confidence in himself is contagious and bodes well for the team's future performances. Even with his impressive performance, he remains humble and hungry for more, which is an excellent trait for any sportsperson.

Concerning the game, his recognition of the fans' support shows how much he values their contribution. It's wonderful to hear an athlete appreciate their fans so openly, acknowledging their role in the win. His positive outlook, both in terms of personal performance and team outlook, is a breath of fresh air.

I am impressed by the spirit that the players showed and how they handled the setbacks in the game. It’s one of those things to go behind in games, but to have the quality to turn it around is extremely positive.

It’s good that the crowd showed its full support. Usually, idiots do become audible, but it was as if we were one. The 12th man is our advantage in games like this.

It was enjoyable to watch Jodi Jones. He is never afraid to be direct, which is precisely what we have been lacking in this area for years. I thought he played exceptionally well; his crosses are always tempting to be put in the back of the net. I am pleased that he is humble and laughs it off, although I do feel he deserves the goal.

You have to admire Jodi Jones and how he's not overconfident about his ability, but rather focuses more on the team's performance and achieving a win. Personally, I hope he is acknowledged with the goal, even though I don't think he will be. We all know he scored. ;)
