Notts County Manager Luke Williams Praises Team's Performance in Pre-Season Friendly

PON_News

Notts County responded with the opening goal on 10 minutes as Jodi Jones’ excellent cross was headed home by Crowley inside the area.

They had to wait another two minutes to have the ball in the net again, though, as Brindley met Jones’ half-cleared cross with a sweet strike from 20 yards. Some of the standout players for Notts County in the match were Dan Crowley, David McGoldrick, and Richard Brindley.

Telford United played well in their counter-attacking football, being direct and making Notts have to work. Despite their efforts, Notts County was able to secure the win with their strong performance. Williams praised Telford’s play, particularly on the counter-attack, and acknowledged that his team had to work hard to get the win.

In an interview with Nick Richardson of the Notts County media team, Williams said that the match was a “very worthwhile” experience and that Telford played “excellent” football, particularly on the counter-attack.

“I thought that Telford were excellent and particularly when they played on the counter-attack very, very well,” Williams said. “But then we managed to get to grips with the game somewhat, and we started to create more chances later on.”

Williams was happy overall with the team’s performance but acknowledged that there is still some work to be done for them to improve. He also mentioned that they had to move players around and monitor their minutes to avoid pushing them too hard too early in the season.

“So I’m happy overall but still we can see there is some work to be done for us to improve,” Williams said.

Williams also spoke about the team’s efforts to improve their defence and find the right balance between attacking and defending. He mentioned that they are working on being more compact and organised when defending, while also being more creative and dynamic when attacking.

“We’re working on our defence, trying to be more compact and organised, while also being more creative and dynamic when attacking,” Williams said. “It’s all about finding the right balance and I think we’re making good progress.”

It seems that Williams is pleased with how his team is progressing during their pre-season preparations. They will continue to work hard and improve as they get ready for the start of the new season.

dan crowley is looking shaper by the minute, he really performed well against telford. i thought they did look quite difficult to break down at times, but notts persisted and the two goals were brilliantly taken. i am glad we are also not over pushing the players, but taking the right precautions to avoid any set backs.

The home friendlies have shown us how we need to prepare defensively. Those were very good exercises for that, and I think Telford played quite well, although we definitely looked a lot better. The squad is progressing well, and these games aren’t about winning. Although winning does breed confidence, it makes a massive difference to their fitness and the structure of the formation we play.

The squad is establishing a level of understanding with the new players. Pairs of players, such as Dan Crowley, are serving as anchors further up the pitch, connecting others into the games. It's looking promising for when we play teams at our own level.

Defensively is the area we need to improve the most. We play good, fluid football and can break teams down when we control the matches. It’s good to see the players enjoying their football. I like how Luke Williams is building.

The club is making good progress. The new recruits appear to be settling in well and the coaching is helping to bring out the best in the squad. The focus now is on the upcoming away game against Sutton.

It will be interesting to see whether Slocombe or Stone is selected to play. Both are strong choices, but it will be a difficult decision for Williams to make.

Truly applaud the team's hard work and Williams' management. It’s exciting to see this blend of organisational discipline and creativity on the pitch. I'm looking forward to seeing more improved performances in the regular season. They're certainly making the pre-season friendlies exceptional to watch!

Thanks to Williams for acknowledging the areas of improvement that the team has to work on.

His honesty speaks volumes about his leadership as a manager. The balance between attack and defence is indeed a vital virtue every team should have and it's encouraging to see they're working towards achieving that. Looking forward to seeing their progress in the next few games.

That sweet strike from Richard Brindley was the highlight of the match for me. It's great to see the players are getting more consistent with their form and delivering under pressure. The work Williams is doing with the team - focusing on maintaining compact defence and creativity in attack is evidently paying off on the field.

Good to see the response from to the counter-attack football from Telford. It's one thing to have individual talents but it’s another to apply them constructively as a team. They have really shown their capability to adapt to various footballing situations, testament to Williams' tactical prowess.

It was wise of Williams not to overwork the players early in the season. By monitoring their time and adjusting players where needed, they can ensure good form for the entire duration. Managing both fitness and morale is crucial and they appear to be heading in the right direction.

I am impressed by the team chemistry so far. Our new players seem to be conforming well to the framework. Thanks to our manager for designing strategies to improve our defence while not compromising on the attacking front. Notts County is taking strides in the right direction, with steady progress and desired structure.

The team seems to be developing nicely with the new signings. It’s a positive sign, and fans should realise that it will take further time for things to be perfected between the players. The signings this season, I think, go a long way in adding quality to the attacking departments, which should ease the defence.
