Notts County have made their first signing of the summer by recruiting goalkeeper Adam Collin on a two-year contract.

The 31-year-old joins on a free transfer after leaving Championship side Rotherham United, whom he helped to the second tier after playing an instrumental role in their playoff-winning campaign in 2014.

Collin has played more than 200 league games in the past four seasons, one with Carlisle United and three at Rotherham, but he only played twice for the Millers last term, with a further three appearances during a loan spell with Scottish club Aberdeen.

Speaking to the club's website, Collin said: "I am delighted to be here. It's another part of my career that I am looking forward to and I am looking forward to getting started.

"I was out of contract at Rotherham and there was a bit of interest from other clubs. But my agent spoke to the manager here at Notts County and it was a no brainer."

Manager John Sheridan added: "He's a very good goalkeeper. He's got great experience. He's had promotions from this division and he's played at a higher level.

"I'm very pleased to get him, I know other clubs were interested in him but Adam has made the decision to come to us. He will be a really good asset for us."

Notts were previously left with two goalkeeping options on their books as they released veteran keeper Roy Carroll at the end of last season.

Very happy, I hope to see a CB/striker arrive soon.

John Sheridan can hopefully attract more quality to the squad, with some tough lower league additions to give us that bulk we lacked last season.

Delighted both for Adam & Notts, Mr Sheridan is definitely going for quality over quantity, I may risk a sneaky tenner on Notts next season.
