Notts County Show Resilience in Thrilling Win Over Grimsby Town

PON_News

Notts County secured their first victory of the new League Two campaign with a thrilling comeback against Grimsby Town at Meadow Lane.

The home side twice came from behind to claim all three points in a match that had plenty of drama and excitement. Grimsby Town started the game brightly and took the lead in the 17th minute when Danny Rose capitalised on a poor back pass from Aaron Nemane to Connell Rawlinson.

However, Notts County showed great resilience and managed to equalise through John Bostock, who chested down the ball inside the area before volleying it past Mariners keeper Jake Eastwood.

In first-half stoppage time, Bostock almost doubled his tally, but it was Harry Clifton who managed to beat the offside trap and restore Grimsby's lead just before the break.

The second half started with Notts County once again on the front foot, and they were rewarded for their efforts when Jodi Jones' deflected cross looped over Eastwood to level the scores for the second time.

The comeback was complete just after the hour mark when Jones turned provider, picking out Dan Crowley at the back post to head home and give Notts County the lead for the first time in the match. Grimsby Town pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but substitute Rekeil Pyke was unable to guide his header beyond County keeper Aidan Stone.

This victory will give Notts County a huge boost of confidence as they look to build on this result and climb up the League Two table. Grimsby Town will need to start from scratch as they seek to recover from this loss.

It was an entertaining match that had plenty of twists and turns, and both sets of fans will have left Meadow Lane feeling that they had witnessed a great game of football.

huge relief to get the win, very impressed from the second half and i feel that should be the standard. notts will be fine, but we need to stop making it harder for ourselves. i think the squad were great pulling level and for achieving the win. jodi jones and david mcgoldrick can make things happen.

Grimsby Town started the game brightly, but for a spell Notts looked quite comfortable until they took the lead in the 17th minute. John Bostock leveller was brilliant, as was Jodi Jones' trouble cross. The winning goal, I can still feel the stands being sent into raptures. Great win!

John Bostock was a standout player for Notts, his volleying past keeper Jake Eastwood to equalise. It was a moment of pure class from Bostock, who showed great skill and composure to bring Notts level. I thought he worked very hard for the team.

It was an entertaining match that had plenty of action, with both teams showing their quality and determination. Football is all about entertainment, and this match certainly delivered on that front. Both sets of fans will have left Meadow Lane feeling that they got their money's worth.

Defensively, there is room for improvement for Notts, but Richard Brindley did very well today and they showed great resilience to win the game. Conceding two goals is never ideal, but the way Notts County responded shows that they have the character and determination to overcome setbacks.

Jodi Jones also had a great game, he was a constant threat on the wing, causing all sorts of problems for the Grimsby defence. His deflected cross was a bit of luck, but his assist for Crowley's goal was pure quality.

Notts showed great character to come back from behind twice and claim all three points in a thrilling match at Meadow Lane. It's never easy to come back from behind, let alone twice in one match, but Notts County showed great resilience and determination to do just that.

The atmosphere at Meadow Lane felt great, electric when Notts scored and both sets of fans witnessed a great game of football with plenty of drama and excitement. There's nothing quite like a comeback victory to get the home fans on their feet, and I'm sure the Notts players heard us in full voice as our team fought back to claim all three points.

Wow, what a game and what an atmosphere. We conceded two preventable goals but it was great to see Notts fighting back to get the win.

I’m very impressed with Dan Crowley who was my man of the match. Jodi Jones was a close second.

For me, there are two things: belief and confidence. I think the first win is always the most difficult, and after Sutton United, we needed this win just to focus on what we do have. We need to understand that in these early stages, anyone can beat anyone, and until form takes hold, things may be a bit hit-and-miss. Yet it is my hope that this will give our squad a boost of confidence and make them believe that we can dig deep to get a more positive outcome.

I thought in the second half, Notts played some superb stuff, and the rotation of the players helped to inject life. It was a very pleasing result and a decent performance.
