Isthmian League to allow earlier kick offs to reduce floodlighting costs

Featured Replies

I noticed Notts mentioned they played Forest under new floodlights? I hope I didn't dream this.

Efficacy has come along way, with led-powered lights showing that cost can be reduced. Whilst I think it makes perfect sense to lower the cost, by allowing earlier kick-offs. I do think more from the footballing bodies should be done to make football stadiums more echo friendly.

My memories are a little foggy, but I do recall comments about solar panels being placed on the roof of our stands.

This is something that I and others have mentioned to Notts, it's a little harder for clubs lower down but I think anything that helps the planet and cost of clubs upkeep must be explored.

It's a very sensible idea - by kicking off an hour earlier, clubs could realistically leave their floodlights off for a good part of the season. In Germany, many semi-pro and amateur clubs don't have floodlights at all (they're mandatory in the English pyramid) and kick off their games at 2pm on Sundays.

It saves electricity and money. Why not?
