I did have plans to show it prior to the change, but with me being on holiday - I just went ahead and made the switch when I got back after going out. I had been testing it on the dev site, I felt quite happy to use it in a live environment because I knew I would get feedback.

Why the change?

Previously, only the information was enhanced to the postbit area (the area by the side of our posts).

I wanted to bring in elements into the mobile side, as I know how a lot of members use it. By default, you lose out on so much information for the sake of keeping the "clean" and "simple" look, but it lacks. There's no content count number, it just displays a badge of your recent achievement. a badge if you are a team member, your username, the post date and time.

On desktops, it looked much better with the enhancements, but I wanted to improve the overlook on all devices.

The plan was to work on the previous design, but I thought with elements such as sharing posts, post IDs coming into importance with the curation of the "content you may have missed". The one change allowed me to drop several other plugins and one application, which is a good boost to our performance. I have made a lot of changes to the UI on tablets, since this is what I used dominantly whilst I have been away. The enhancements made to the postbit and surrounding UI have resulted in a remarkable improvement. At least in my opinion, and I don't take making changes lightly.

Now I am back, with full access I will be fine-tuning things a little further. In the days since the changes, things have massively moved forward. Sometimes you need that feedback to make something work. I personally like knowing people feel comfortable making suggestions and whilst things aren't for everyone. I don't see this as being a step backwards, more focused on moving forward. 👍

A lot of good things have come from the funds raised via the subscriptions, this is just part of that. So, thank you for the support. Now, let's continue to make the Pride of Nottingham the community we know it is.

I can now see the picture at the bottom of your post @Chris in the lightweight theme, previously it was a grey box, hopefully it’s not a temporary thing, I like this theme it’s very clean looking.

I still can’t post pictures though as it says they are too big as I explained previously.

I have applied fixes to the comment controls for the default, and dark skin.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with the lightweight theme. That seems fine to me, but if someone who uses it believes that something should be corrected - please let me know, and I will review. I haven't made any changes to the transparency, but I am keen to see thoughts on that. If it needs to be reduced slightly I will make those changes.

The +Supporter's badge will be reduced in size soon, so that it fits better. 👍

@Chris

The icons at the bottom are clearer now in standard mode.👍

Update: I have applied some final fixes. I apologise if these effected anyone's experience whilst interacting with PON - however, I could do the changes without seeing it live.

Social icons for users have been added beneath usernames.

Note: This is the only way that people can see X.com links on mobiles and tablets.

I have also reduced the transparency in the post area for the default and dark themes.

It looks fine on my mobile @Chris

Reducing the transparency looks better. Everything is clear apart from the Green numbers that denotes the level of  the reputation.

Couldn't it be in a sharper green like the green denoting online or even white numbers on a black background would be very clear?

Apart from that one thing the changes look really good.

@Robbie, you are right. I have changed it to a better green on the default skin and white for the lightweight theme. Would you please compare, and then let me know your thoughts? I do like the idea of the likes total being a different colour, but the green prior didn't work, I agree with that.

@ChrisThe light weight theme & the dark mode theme are perfect.

The default scheme is less so due to the green numbers.

I'll try the light weight  theme for now. It looks much better👍

Just checked on the leaderboard & I can't see the members points totals in either the default or lightweight themes. But I can see the points total in dark mode

I noticed the same thing with the PM box.

The amount is white, so I need to target the post screen with my changes - as the code I have implemented is doing this.

It should be fixed now, with white remaining in the users post area, but being green elsewhere. 👍

I have fixed some very minor theme bugs.

PON Default theme:

Spacing issue fixed: bookmark button now matches the control links.
Fixes to styling throughout the forum index, and topic pages.

PON Dark theme:

As above.
Visibility improved by clearly highlighting who has engaged with the content.

A dark theme alternative to the "PON Lightweight Theme" is in beta, and will be soon added.

Redis is failing again. I had to restart the server which gave us some brief downtime. :(

I'm trying to resolve the issue.

I tried to post a reply to you on the Iron Mike Tyson thread but when I had posted it didn't register. I tried twice but still the same.

Sorry, I tried to connect to Redis (a cache system) but it failed again. I would safely say the issue was my fault.

I have been working on a dark version of the lightweight theme; it's still in beta. However, I have asked one person to have a look and the feedback was positive. I have seen further worked on it, to ensure it is dark black - instead of dark blue/grey.

Please keep in mind: Dark Lightweight Theme.

The Daily Post Goal
The Footer

Both needs work.

There are areas which require some final thought, but I welcome feedback.

Fixes have been applied to all themes except PON dark. It's the same fix, but I am trying to ensure it's a good fix. On tablets, blocks show as single items, instead of being 2x2. This change caused an issue with the home page on mobiles which has been fixed. As I say, I am trying to ensure it's the right approach, but I haven't experienced any issues.

I am awaiting feedback from someone far more knowledgeable in CSS/theme design than me.

Some minor upgrades have recently taken place, nothing all that exciting in truth.

--Edit--

I will make sure that the Lightweight and Dark Lightweight themes can be toggled between each other. This is currently on hold, but it will be added within the new year. As, I expect this to be out of beta by then.

@Chris

Generally it looks good.

Just the white hand against a white background on the like button, it's hard to see the white hand. Would it be better if the background to the hand was a little darker or the hand itself, was say a yellow colour or the background was a yellow colour with a white hand?

Also could the writing below other media that refers to gif, jpeg etc, be whiter as that looks a little faint?

I have made amendments, unfortunately the way the reactions are handled is a CSS trick is applied to an image - which in this case is 'greyscale' and that limits the options of what you can do.

It should be easier to see, I basically toned it down.

The "Accepted file types: gif, jpeg, jpe, jpg, png, webp" has also been altered. 👍

Sorry, again it's me.

I am trying to improve the page speed, so I temporarily disabled it. However, my trick to save on the loading time isn't working. I've restored it.
