Birmingham have confirmed that youngster Reece Hales has joined Notts County on trial.

The 18-year-old will train with the Sky Bet League One club on a short-term basis to help with his development.

Hales, who recently had a loan spell in non-league football with Worcester City, has made one appearance for Blues' first team, coming on as a late substitute in the FA Cup third-round tie with Leeds one year ago.

I've not heard of him either but I will watch with interest to see how things develop.

A Brummy friend said he's promising but hasn't taken his chances with them.

He said that Notts might be able to get something out from him, League One might be the right starting point and that he's still very young.

Personally snapping up other talent is a good thing, with it being a short deal he will need to prove himself. If he does I am sure we can go forward, it's just good to see us taking gambles with local talent because if we don't - we might not find the talent which other clubs do. It's only a matter of time before one proves themselves with us!
