They don't call it ungentlemanly conduct anymore. It's a professional foul now.

Googled it.

"If a goalkeeper handles the ball outside of their penalty area, it's a handball offense that's penalised with a direct free kick. The goalkeeper may also receive a yellow card if a promising attack was stopped, or a red card if a goal or goal-scoring opportunity was denied".

I agree with, @liampie.

Sometimes back then the paint wasn't very good, so it was a lot more difficult in the heat of the moment to check your positioning. It's funny how he wasn't booked, but I do think the referee made a smart choice. I think things like this lead to stricter rules though, where the decision is less about the ref's thoughts and more down to the rules exactly as they are written.
