Sad news from Italy. Brescia are facing expulsion from the Italian Professional League system after becoming Bankrupt.

Brescia beat Notts 1:0 in the Anglo Italian Cup Final at Wembley on 20 March 1994, so we have that connection.

You don't often hear about overseas clubs at their level, but it highlights how bad football finances have become. With the rising cost of watching matches, you have to wonder how teams can stay sustainable.

I wish them all the best. From what I've heard, the situation seems grim, but miracles can happen. I hope they find a way through.

Storied Italian club Brescia have been banned from the country's professional leagues after failing to honour a €3 million debt.

A solid Serie B team that had spells in the Italian top league and featured some excellent players. Gheorghe Hagi, for example.

I hope a Phoenix club is formed.
