i have to agree that iorpenda looked very comfortable, i felt a bit nervous with him being on the team sheet as a starter but i thought he went about the first half with a lot of intent. the foul he drew, i think might have been given if he did not drop to the floor like a championship player.

it got a lot of fans backs up near me towards the referee but i think if he drawn more contact and went down naturally i do think it would have been given as a foul.

he worked very hard in a lot of the attacking play which was brilliant to see. thought him and matt palmer did a lot of work to encourage us to attack positively.

Tom Iorpenda had a great first half and stood out in a very lively starting eleven that looked to attack right from the first whistle. He found space well and wasn’t afraid to carry the ball forward or play a pass when needed. His link-up play was strong and he worked well with those around him.

The runs he made were hard for Newport to deal with, which is a good sign. He’s not the same type of player as George Abbott, but he brings a calm and sensible approach to midfield that you don’t often see in young lads.

I agree @Sir Magpie that Tom Iorpenda played well in that first half. We all thought that it would be hard to replace George Abbott, but it does appear on this first league showing that he has slotted in well which is very encouraging..

He may not be the same type of player as George Abbott but he has a way of playing & style that could be very useful to Notts in the months ahead.

I'm sorry, I messed up. Sometimes I find it difficult to see what I actually write; I believe it's correct, and I could double-check it a million times and still feel that way. It's only when someone points it out. Usually, I run everything past @cheeky~k8, but I haven't done it for a while, so I didn't bother her with it.

It should read:

It should read: "Tom Iorpenda looked right at home for the black and white army, away at Newport County.👊🏻"

We should see Iorpenda back against Tranmere. He's done pretty well so far, but personally I suspect he's a dangerous player for us. That means one who looks the part but won't contribute the goals, assists and wins we need from his position (he's playing in Didzy's role at the moment, to illustrate the point). I hope he proves me wrong, obviously.

I also feel a bit sorry for him. Is he a deeper-lying midfielder or an inside forward? I think the best answer to that is neither - with his energy, physique and athleticism he's more of a classic box-to-box midfielder. Today though, it seems you're either a No.6 or a No.10, definitely the way Notts have set up the last few seasons.

Where would Bryan Robson, for example, have played if he was in the premiership now?
