So Spanish Clubs Villarreal & Barcelona have been approved by the Spanish Football Federation to play their match in Miami, United States, in December. It still has to be approved by UEFA, FIFA, CONCACAF, & US Soccer, before it can go ahead but it will probably be a formality.

What do PON members think about the implications for Clubs & Fans around the World & in the UK. Is it a good or bad thing?

In My Honest Opinion @Robbie I think a Bad Thing, because how long will it be before the Premier League Latch on to it? Once money starts rolling in from the U.S.A How long before the Saudi's Start throwing Money around to entice Clubs from the Top European Leagues to play in their Country? As for the Fans, their Opinion Doesn't Matter, Because Money Talks. How Long before we see Liverpool vs Everton, Manchester City vs Manchester United or Arsenal vs Spurs, or any other Top Premier League fixtures being played Overseas? Personally I think by 2030, at the Latest.

The implication for a Club's season ticket holders, & away supporters is very concerning. How will clubs involved be able to sell the notion of a season ticket anymore? Also it will completely change the dynamics of the PL format.

Football is all about playing at home & playing away. There is supposed to be an advantage to being at home with the home support & a different challenge when playing away.

That will totally change with having a neutral venue. I think it will change the game for the worse. It will also not help the domestic game in the US either with foreign teams playing each other there on a regular basis.

Personally I think that UEFA & FIFA should block it from happening, but we know they won't because as you say @Wheelbarrow repair man , money talks and has the final say

FIFA are envious of the money UEFA generate through their club competitions. FIFA would back a breakaway Super League as long as they get a cut of the profits. We know the Saudis have raised the idea of their clubs playing in UEFA club competitions. Infantino is supportive of this. So you'd have Saudi Arabia in AFC for international football and club football and also in UEFA club competition. At what point does football lose all integrity?

Barcelona support a Super League so this is no surprise.

I don’t think this is good for football. It shows that money is behind everything, and if clubs are willing to spend it, they can move a match that should be played at home to somewhere completely different. I doubt many home or away fans will travel for it, and I hope they don’t, as a way of protesting the decision.

It’ll probably attract casual viewers and American fans who chant things like “Attack, attack, attack” or “Defence, defence” as if it’s basketball. It’s a very poor decision to let the game be played in America.

It’s a ridiculous idea and I can imagine the fans would protest most vociferously against this idea.
