Firefox - Script Errors

I don't know if any technically minded person out there will have an answer for this. I use Firefox as a browser on my iMac and I keep getting script errors, it seems to be associated with when I open Facebook and particularly if there is a video on there.

It slows down my computer considerably and I have to force quit Firefox and restart the computer before it will return to normal, it has got that bad that I am reluctant to open Facebook on my desktop and just look at it on the mobile.

Anyone any ideas how I can stop this happening?

May first guesses would be to try and update your flash version.

Out-dated versions tend to cause Facebook and high demanding websites issues, which a simple download of the latest version can fix. Also, you could be running a few programs which aren't required, therefore taking up your ram (or whatever Apple call it) and in turn it slows down your computer, so when you visit a site like Facebook it struggles because your computer is already busy.

I'm pretty much second guessing, I have no knowledge of Apple computers but the principles are almost the same.

Just to mention, it does appear to be 'flash' related, as literally everything uses it and this would then cause the script errors. Does it ask if you want to continue running the scripts or if you want to close them?

Next time it happens, check to see what percentage of your memory/ram is being used and where/what is using it.

Also check to see if you can upgrade your flash version.

Thanks @notts-joe, yes it does ask if I want to continue or close but neither option seems to make much difference, I'll have a look at flash though thanks.

When this happened with me, I ran the above process but you may also want to check your Java version.

There's ways of editing your browser to make it avoid time limits, yet I would suggest against this. Please do let me know if you resolve the problem with the advice (or any other) if not I'll see if I can dig anything else up which may be causing the problem in an attempt to stop it from happening.

Β

It's usually when I play a video that someone has posted.

However I am happy to say that following @notts-joe's advice I updated adobe flash this morning and I haven't had any problems so far in spite of deliberately playing videos on facebook. So fingers crossed and thanks Joe
