Youth team

The Notts Youth team completed its pre-season preparations on Saturday with a 2-3 defeat at Port Vale when only a late penalty stopped the young 'Pies from claiming something from the game.

Of the five games played, all away from home, they managed only one victory a 5-3 win against Central College at Basford United plus a 0-0 draw with Northampton Town and defeats at both Watford and Coventry City.

Having said that they have played some good football and with eight players progressing from last years' team to become this years' second year scholars - the team looks to have a sound basis for the coming season.

As always the youngsters are well drilled, get the ball down early and always try to play good football and have a trialist up front, scorer of both goals against Port Vale, who looks a real handful and I am looking forward to seeing more of this season.
