The scorer of the greatest team goal in world cup history has passed after a heart attack aged 72.

Was part of the best team the world had to offer at that stage, says an awful lot about his quality.

Will never forget that goal

Very sad to learn about this, I didn't see him back in his day obviously but I was addicted to watching past international games growing up (including World Cups etc).

He was one hell of a player and a true leader. RIP :(

A field where dreams become reality.

That Brazilian side was the greatest team in history. Who beats Italy 4-1 in a WC final? No one is the answer. The Italians simply had no answer to Brazil. Brazil's ability to up the tempo tore the Italians apart. Their passing took players out the game, making space for Pele and others. Carlos Alberto's goal was a brilliant example of this. R.I.P.

One of the best teams in history alongside the 1950's Hungarians and the 1970's dutch that have that extra ability to step it up to a level that others can't match.
