Stadium Art

@JoeJones shared this link on PoN's Facebook wall.

It highlights an artists work, capturing Football Grounds. A simpler, modern take on the artist Lowry, only difference being there's no matchstick men etc. I hadn't heard of Jamie Edwards, although this is a great share by Joe and I was going to suggest to him to do this (yet I thought I'll just do it).

think out of them all, ours is the one most lacking some artist expression. all the others are good and quite fun, would have been better to focus elsewhere but still nice.

I have to agree with Liam, there could have been a more inspiring view but it's still awesome.

This view would have been great, if worked on from further distance. I would have included the gates and the tree, which is one of my favourite features. Having the corners of the Pavis and Family stand, with the Sirrel stand 'Notts County' in the far horizon. Still, I'm not the artist and I haven't drawn anything in years but these are quite encouraging to do so.

Very interesting. I agree with both Liam and Joe. They are very good but have a sort of unworldly feeling to them.

I quite like the painting of Meadow Lane. To me, it kind of depics a fans journey to their church if you like. Walking down small back roads etc. The one of pride Park nice too :) Better than anything I could ever draw or paint lol

The subject reminds me of this photo I saw which was posted on a football ground related group on Facebook:

It's a photo of Highbury stadium, during a friendly game between Arsenal and Glasgow Rangers on 17th October 1951. It was the second ever floodlit game at Highbury, Arsenal won the match 3-2 in front of an estimated 62,000 people.

I think this a beautiful, really stunning image. To me, it really captures the almost mystical feel to those older football grounds that was and still is particularly apparent under the floodlights. Just thought I'd share :)
