Notts County have forged links with The Mercure Hotel in Nottingham, the Hotel formerly the George was were discussions first took place which resulted in the formation of the club.

The George also holds fond memories for me as when I was an apprentice in the Printing Trade many moons ago our firm always used to have their Christmas Dinner and Dance there.

I was half tempted to go down, although I don't drink tea or coffee and I wasn't sure if I'd have to dress up. It's been awhile since I've worn a suite or anything formal... Though it's good for the fans and local area, especially Notts!

Haha Fotheringham reminds me of myself a few years back!!

I hope we can keep forging these connections, it's one which should have been tied up long ago and kept on a mutual basis. The history between the two is something to be proud of, so well done Notts County!

but what good does it do the club ?? financial ?? historical ??

It's never a bad thing to a good presences with local businesses, especially when PR reflects well on the club. Considering we were formed inside the hotel, It would suggest a significant historical value for our football club.

I guess it's not always about money..

Anything that promotes Notts in the community must be a good thing.

I think promoting notts and going back to a place that means something to the club helps alot and is nice to see.
