I can't say I know a lot about RB Leipzig, I skimmed through the article - they seem the German version of MK Dons (just with added political nonsense).

RB Leipzig, the European champions that 2020 deserves.

If MK Dons had been formed by Coca-Cola with the express purpose of promoting fizzy drinks, and Coca-Cola FC were sitting at the top of the Premier League, you'd have it. This isn't a football club, it's a marketing gimmick that cheapens the league.

The article compares them to Bayer Leverkusen, but that's a bit cheap. Leverkusen is a relatively new town and grew around the Bayer plant (it was even named after the former owner of the plant). Bayer has many thousands of employees in Leverkusen and many cultural and sporting facilities, including a works sports team. Bayer Leverkusen was born out of this. Admittedly the club was bankrolled all the way to the Bundesliga, but it was a way for the company to give something back to the town. Red Bull, on the other hand, has no association with Leipzig whatsoever. It was simply chosen as a location for a franchise in a board meeting.

Incidentally, it is now banned to use sponsors' names in club names. RB Leipzig got past that one because RB officially stands for "RasenBallsport", or "lawn ball sport". Ridiculous.
