  1. Very frustrating and disappointing display tbh. I have zero idea how Hall was MOTM. Yes, he did some fancy turns & actually put some effort in during the last 20 mins. Prior to that he looked off the pace, was rarely available for a pass and didn’t seem to get involved. He fluffed our best chance in the 1st half too. Technically gifted player with an eye for goal but today was not his best day. Robertson, Bedeau & Grant were our liveliest and most effective performers until later in the game. Ness put a few stray passes around but was generally solid, Macari had a decent enough game too. Very good on the ball but his crosses are weak. Jarvis flatters to deceive, only time he tried to go round his man, he “won” the peno. He cuts inside or passes sideways & backwards too much for me tbh. He needs to be more decisive & direct if he wants to stay in the team. On balance, Palmer made a huge difference in the 2nd half - he probably deserved MOTM tbh.

  3. Such a weird match, first half we just looked off the pace everything was a tad too slow and we struggled to really get into Harrogate and put them under too much pressure. That said we still created the best chance and their goal was a bit out of nowhere as Grant slides in and ends up playing their forward in on goal. Second half was just all us, we must have had about 90% possession. Harrogate were done by about the 60th minute or so and we just lacked that bit of bravery or magic. We were regularly at the edge of their box but the final ball wasn’t great and Harrogate were just so deep by the end there wasn’t much space for anyone in and around the box to even get a shot off. I was unsure about the penalty when it was awarded, and having watched it back I'm still not sure. The Harrogate defender puts his hand in the back of Jarvis but it didn't look like it was with much force, if anything him then falling over causes the Harrogate player to go over and that makes it look worse. l I think the pressure got to the ref, there were a couple of shouts for pens (all which I think he got correct) and he didn’t give them. Fair play to Harrogate, they’ll be gutted after that. I think their defensive resilience merits a point but my word how did the ball just not fall to us at all, not one deflection or anything went our way. It feels like had that been us playing so deep for 30 minutes we’d have conceded a couple.

  8. Jamie Turley is another ex player of both teams, can we make a starting XI?
  9. We got Calvin Miller on loan from them. Who knew this? Miller is the reigning SPFL's Scottish Championship Player of the Year and now plays in the Scottish Premiership.
  10. I think that's a game we would have lost last season, so to get a point is a positive for me. It's very difficult when teams sit deep behind the ball. If there is one we need to work on it finding a way to break these teams down. Putting balls into the box doesn't work against strong defences and good goalkeepers that command the their area. I do think the likes of Jarvis and Bennetts and Jodi when fit have what it takes to go past players and get in to the box then like today anything can happen!
  11. I'm pleased that Notts managed to get a point out of this game. We have seen games such as this one at Meadow Lane end in defeat. If Notts aren't allowed to play well, or simply aren't playing at there best, finding a way to keep the unbeaten record going is a positive. Another positive was the substitutes coming on for Notts in the 2nd half & making a difference. That's another big difference we've seen under Paterson. I hope it continues. Looking at the league 2 table Notts haven't lost much ground with some of their closest rivals losing. Every game that goes by is a learning process, & hopefully, Martin has learned a lot from this game.
  12. A difficult one - I can see there being many nominated, or not many site members bothered to vote. I'll go for Robertson again, just over Ness and Tsaroulla. Bennetts, for the second game running, started really well and then faded quickly in the 2nd half (I think that's worth investigating). Why Robbo? He was busy, active and generally effective in what he did. No great shakes though, it was that type of afternoon.
  13. A frustrating afternoon. Too many of our players were not quite at it today. There was over-reliance on putting in hopeful crosses from wide positions. We didn't have any players willing to attack them through the middle, so we became too predictable. Our defenders often found themselves the spare man at the back with the ball at their feet - but they refused to inject the energy required. Ness did it once, but we needed more from Bedeau and Macari, especially in the first half. And Jatta and Hall were sub par.
  14. Not enough football being played across the backline. Hall and Jatta not really pulling their weight. MP might bring Palmer on and release Robbo a bit.

  18. Great news to start the weekend, he's been really good since returning to the side. It's great to actually be in a position now where we are renewing contracts before the end of the season too, means we definitely won't lose him on a free as I'm pretty sure League 1 sides would've been interested in him. I wonder if we in talks with any other players whose contract is up at the end of the season? 🤔 Tsaroulla and Platt will be out of contract next year...
  19. Yeah, the he calls for his return have quietened down now he hasn’t scored a goal or provided an assist in the League since August… If we had an unlimited budget I’d say yes, but I just can’t see how we can justify paying his wages (he’s probably on even more than he was at Notts now) knowing he can’t play every 90 minutes anymore. There’s also an argument that due to how we press more and play more direct he might also be less effective now.
  20. Is Barry still at Notts? I know he was signed for the season but have not heard his name mentioned or seen his name or him for quite a while.

  26. Best news of the week - Robbo is a vital cog in the Notts wheel. We play better with him on the pitch, his return from injury has helped in the “consistency” department.
  27. Wow, great story and great news. Like a lot of fans, I'd given up on him and just didn't think it would happen for him with us. So much had gone wrong, it seemed ill-fated. It's testament to his determination then that he came back stronger than ever and he's been outstanding over the last dozen games or so. And kudos to Montague for recruiting him in Jan '24 We don't have to worry so much about ever losing Matty Palmer either - the baton can be passed on to Robbo. And the way a young, physical midfield of Robbo and Iorpenda looked at Cheltenham is a nice option to have now and a possible glimpse into the years ahead.
  28. Fantastic news. What a signing this turned out to be. Nailed on for making the L2 team of the season.
  29. He deserves this. He has arguably been our best player since his return. I'm sure we haven't seen the best of him yet either. He's young enough to improve. Maybe a future club captain in the making.
