Video Discussion: Post-Crewe: Harry Kewell
I still find it hard to listen to Harry Kewell, he spoken better this time but referring to Crewe's players as 'little' and I know he means young but it just seems a bit cringeworthy. He reads the games well though and he's starting to see how he can adjust when it needs to be done.

Match Discussion: Game 10 - The Alex (H)
I felt Notts started brilliantly and until Crewe scored, I felt the game would be fairly simple but the mistake (which no one can be blamed for) resulted the lead being taken away. It was awkward watching Notts after that, and despite Crewe looking quite comfortable with drawing - I couldn't help but feel someone needed to take the game and attempt to change it. I think in the first half we was somewhat lucky Crewe didn't take the lead. I warned that they had a good midfield that worked hard, they had two fairly capable strikers and moved the ball nicely. Second half Notts just dominated and the win was deserved. I'm very pleased they kept battling at it. It's a very good performance but it could have been much difference if the team had worked harder in the first half.

Brilliant idea by the club, it's funny and entertaining. You seen this @NcfcT4?

Video Discussion: Kewell: Crewe (H)
He gotten a little defensive with how he said that the previous manager had his way of doing things, I don't mind listening to Harry. I just feel he sounds more American than Australian myself.

Match Discussion: Game 10 - The Alex (H)
I'm going for a 3-1 Notts. Stead, Dennis and Thomas to score. I think it will start off pretty even at 1-1, then the second half will see Notts progress and claim the win. It would be great to see them lead 2-0 but my nerves wouldn't take Crewe pegging us back by 1 goal.

Match Discussion: Game 10 - The Alex (H)
It's going to be a lively encounter. I'm a little nervous that we might feel we can pass Crewe off the park and I honestly don't feel it's that simple. I think we will have to control the game and slow it down at times just to find the pass to create good chances. I fully expect Crewe to focus on playing the ball on the ground, with pressing down the flanks. They play tidy football and for me their weaknesses are found at the back. They don't have the strongest keeper, yet neither do we so far. This is going to be close unless we break them.

Match Reaction: Northampton Town 0-0 Notts County
Positive point and step in the right direction. Either team could have won, so it seems fair. Time to start clawing our way up the table! COYP

Match Discussion: Game 9 - The Cobblers (A)
I am more than happy with the direction of the club, it seems the defence and Ross Fitzsimons are making head way. I am happy that Ross did well yesterday, I'll give credit when it's due and I'm not afraid of that. It sounded like Notts may have been a little too defensive but this will come with time. The positives are there, the draw is a good one and I am pleased that the travelling fans (I wished I could have been there) had some sort of reward. It's time to look up and get behind the squad I think.

That's the most promising sign about the game, I hope they come out more determined to get that needed goal and then we can shut up the shop.

Notts County: Our youth system
Notts does well then they take their feet of the gas. There's no real pathway and the competition isn't that good, most cases the experience isn't gained and the potential ends up getting lost. We can't rush youngsters, something that tends to happen and if they don't impress in their first year as a professional they end up being released. This is why a development squad is beneficial because you can retain them and give them the proper training required to learn the game. There's a huge difference between playing at Meadow Lane in from of thousands of fans, sometimes the mental side of the game takes much longer to shine and it comes with experience. Notts needs to learn to feed the right youngsters into the Non League so they can adapt. It would be nice to see them coming into the first team squad, yet there's a reason why we don't see it happening. Hopefully with Paul Hart back, this might improve because the club should try to get his experience throughout the club.

Match Discussion: Game 9 - The Cobblers (A)
I really hope Harry Kewell has a solid plan on how to attack Northampton and defend, the plan needs to be adaptable and he shouldn't wait until we concede to make these changes required. Go in positively and avoid conceding early, allow the players to grow in confidence. 3-1 is my score prediction for Notts. Stead, Hemmings and Ward to score.

Match Discussion: Game 9 - The Cobblers (A)
I'm getting more nervous the closer Saturday gets, just imagine how the players would feel - especially the few who are still massively out of form. I really hope Harry Kewell doesn't slot Elliott Hewitt straight back into the team. There's better players in terms of consistency that should go in to the squad. Despite my comments I about Rob Milsom in the recent PONcast, I do feel him and David Vaughan are the way forward. We have to go into the game thinking we can get something, I am sure Jon Stead will be looking to use his experienced head to lift those around him. He's already done better than Richard Duffy did last season as the clubs captain in my eyes.

Match Discussion: Game 9 - The Cobblers (A)
Notts have to figure out how to be direct and to control the game via the centre of the park. I really hope David Vaughan returns because I think he can and will make a difference, I really don't get why people are critical of him but not of Ross Fitzsimons. The defenders need to chase everything and block whatever they can, reduce the shots on target and allow the creative players to do their jobs. I can see Notts scoring maybe one or two, but I see Northampton leading at first. I just feel that the fire at the back won't be there from the start.

Tactical Talk: Notts County a little hard done by against Stevenage
Notts County put in a much improved performance in Harry Kewell's first home league game in charge but defensive issues came back to haunt the Magpies as they were held to a 3-3 draw by Stevenage at Meadow Lane. Three times Notts went ahead in the game and three times they were pegged back by the visitors, yielding just a second point of the season. Pride of Nottingham head honcho Chris reviews the game in this week's Tactical Talk piece. Was the result fair? I feel Notts was a little hard done by but in all, I would say the draw was fair – I just feel Notts attacked the game better. How did Notts play? There was a noticeable slow start to the game, Notts struggled to get to grips early on and Stevenage opened the game looking more keen to play the ball on the floor. Once down Notts looked good, they created chances but ultimately rushed the majority. The penalty decision seemed to provide the magpies with some confidence, however blips at the back made it hard. Despite this Notts created and looked good, I wouldn’t class the game as entertaining but I feel less annoyed by the issues I witnessed. I do feel things can be improved from here, which could start to change the season around. How did Stevenage play? Stevenage looked capable of entertaining, they started off better and seemed more organised up front. They passed the ball around, however once the opening minutes’ settle cracks started to appear – defensively I don’t feel they did very well. They worked hard to pull back level, playing some nice passes and executing some delightful passes. I just feel they never threatened enough and that the goals stem from a major lack of confidence in the back, they did enough to draw and I feel Stevenage fans should be happy with the away point. Did our tactics work out? I would say yes, training seems to have helped with the focus being on ‘working hard’. The new signings fitted in well, they gave Notts more grit at the back but defensively I feel we allowed ourselves to be fairly vulnerable. Ross Fitzsimons needs to sort his tactics out, as his destitution painfully hurt the games tempo at times and his failure to listen to his team-mates/manager. How did the referee perform? The referee gave a few baffling decisions, he also lost the game from time to time due to this but overall he held the game together and I have little complains about any of the match officials. Who do we play next? Next up is Northampton Town, it’s hard to figure out how the team can move forward despite the positive. I am concerned about the goalkeeper position at Notts and I don’t want to sound negative – yet until this is addressed I don’t think there’s much more the defence can do. I would hope to see the same amount of passion from the likes of Jon Stead and Enzio Boldewijn. How should we play them? Approach them the same as we did Stevenage, it will be harder away from home but it’s important to get the ball down as early as possible. For me David Vaughan should return as the midfield isn’t as easy to bypass with him in midfield, I would like to see Rob Milsom take the torch for being the defensive minded ball winner – along with more enthusiasm on playing down the flanks. Notts now has a back four that can do the club justice, so I would like to see them reduce the amount of crosses whilst focusing on the space created within the middle of our own penalty area. It’s important to attack the game creatively, yet to be as balanced at the back. There’s a lot more pace there, so if caught out – the defence should be good enough to work as a team. The question falls can we reduce the amount of shots that we have on target at our own goal? This would be a step forward since Fitzsimons confidence is severely absent now. Faces of PON: Notts County fans see second point of season collected against Stevenage
The Magpies took the lead midway through the first half as Ben Nugent brought down Jon Stead in the box for a penalty, which the veteran striker opted to take himself as he sent goalkeeper Paul Farman the wrong way. Stevenage countered with their first equaliser seven minutes before the break through Ben Kennedy, who turned home Danny Newton's low cross, only to fall behind again on 43 minutes when the livewire Enzio Boldewijn cut in from the left and bent in his third goal of the season from 20 yards. However, the first half ended all square as Alex Revell leapt above debutant Cedric Evina at the far post to connect with Steve Seddon's cross and loop a header beyond Ross Fitzsimons two minutes later. Kane Hemmings restored the advantage four minutes after the break with a smart finish from Lewis Alessandra's through ball, but Notts were pegged back yet again after 73 minutes, Danny Newton connecting with a cross and drilling home a left-footed finish from eight yards. Pride of Nottingham was at Meadow Lane to see Notts in action and took photos of fans during the afternoon. See if you've made it in this week's Faces of PON!
