  1. @Fan of Big Tone I'm sorry, mate. It's never easy, and knowing the pain of losing a child - I know it's not something you can get over easily. Personally, I feel a lot happier knowing Granny Pie is with Chloe. My mum was the second person to hold her, so I am thankful of that and have always liked to believe my Grandfather has been looking after her too. I like that your son is close to his grandparents. I'm sure he's reunited with them.
  2. This week has gone pretty quickly. For the past two days Jake has been over at my brothers and sister-in-law's house sleeping over. It's been very quiet, and I haven't had @cheeky~k8 mention anything about being nagged about what food we're having or what a certain person could have. Thursday's planned had to wait until today, due to the weather. Today, we tidied Chloe's and replaced her old fence as it had rotted. To protect it, we put some protection in front, as when the grass gets cut it can catch the fencing or even headstones if it's not protected. It was nice to do this. I also cut the grass down and removed weeds, including from nearby graves as I hate seeing other babies with overgrown weeds near them. Then we worked on @GrannyPie's grave and her parents (my grandparents) and aunt Jeans grave. Nowadays, the grass is left excessively high, with only certain parts being cut, much to the annoyance of my grandfather. So, we spent time cutting it back. At some stage, we need to clean and re-paint the lettering of the headstone.
  3. I'm not sure why Macaulay Langstaff would mind, but it shows the level of respect between them and their friendship. I think Cedwyn Scott should feature a lot more for us this season, so hopefully, we can keep him injury free.
  4. All the adverts in the programmes are connected to the EFL, money which is paid to Notts before hand and then they have to put the ads in - including social media. I quite like the idea of a folding one - I miss the ones that used to be able to fit in your pocket. It's after those were scrapped for the larger size, I bought them very seldomly and not very often at all. Nothing will bring back a physical form, it's sad but I do know fans can get a team sheet. I think they were sold for £1, which is expensive for just a printed copy but it's something at least.
  5. I do like both, yet I find the away shirt (orange) to be a little too basic, but it's still nice and I love the colour choice. The blue kit has a nice pattern and appeals to me more, though I will be pre-ordering the home shirt. It's nice to finally have the away shirt out there. Pleased to see we have also decided to go for a third shirt.
  6. Scrapping the Mag is the most convenient choice. The content IMO could have been much better, the first few pages are very insightful, but it soon turns into ads and page fillers. This said, it's sad to see it go, but there's no profit in doing it and the club would want that. Reducing the pages to 16 from 30* was a step towards it being axed. In reality, that only decreased the quality and postponed the decision temporarily. A digital version would be interesting, potentially cheaper and profitable, but it might not catch on well enough. I know, some clubs do sell digital versions.
  7. Barrow 1-0 Crewe Alexandra Gillingham 2-0 Carlisle United Joker Harrogate Town 0-0 Bromley Salford City 0-1 Port Vale Altrincham 1-1 Woking Boston United 0-1 Rochdale Halifax Town 1-2 Barnet Southend United 3-1 York City
  8. Good I say, they should be fined and prevented from being involved in football again. This sort of thing doesn't help the reputation of the game, nor does it shine a good light on English football.
  9. Yes, I have heard there's been rioting and trouble near Liverpool and Tranmere itself. Buses being attacked, cars attempted to be set alight. I don't think it would have such an impact on us, as it seems to have subsided, but you never know. I think it will go ahead.
  10. Cedwyn Scott has to start the game, even though it would be nice to see Jodi Jones playing in a more advanced role. It seems likely that Curtis Edwards will be paired with Dan Crowley and Scott Robertson. Defensively, we could see anyone start. Matty Platt will most likely be the pinpoint part of our defence. I don't know if Aaron Nemane has any concerns but despite him not being the best defensively, I do feel his trickery and speed would be a massive threat to Tranmere Rovers. I think any player with a decent level of pace would be useful, as Tranmere might be expecting us to pass the ball more - in turn expecting to break up the play by intercepting the ball. I don't think for a second that they'll be pushovers, but Notts must be stronger on the ball and more focused towards creating chances.
  11. I am pleased for Cedwyn Scott, it's good to see him get his best friends shirt number and I hope it means we'll see him more often in the starting line-up - instead of coming on from off the bench. He's a class player, who should shine for us. It was between him and Jatta at the end of the day. Also, I wonder if this means we won't be signing anyone else? The assignment of squad numbers typically indicates that the team's recruitment process is complete. Not always, as there can be surprises and the odd team that doesn't, but generally it does. I also thought Matty Palmer had had a different number previously, but this could be me misremembering.
  12. I thought it was Monty Python at first. I don't know about anyone else, but I would watch this! It rekindles the wish of watching a demoltion derby!
  13. I went to help @super_ram with his garden, we have taken down many tree branches to open up light and overhanging parts of the various trees (most of which I planted from Apple seeds as a kid - which I have learned are unlikely to ever bear fruit). Going to have something to eat, as I have only eaten yoghurt and a packet of crisps. A little rant below, if you feel inclined to know how I feel and what is on my mind
  14. It's a good read, from the Notts perspective they have done a fair amount of homework. I do feel a little disappointed that some teams have more depth than others, it takes away a fair balance, but it's not like they could write a compressive preview. I believe there are teams that will pleasantly surprise those who have high expectations for them. I think the likes of Walsall will do much better this season.
  15. Bromley has a very tough task ahead of themselves, but they did well to rise in the National League and earn promotion. I would rather see teams like these, then Sutton in the Football League. Their journey could just be the beginning, it wasn't that long ago it seems, when Bournemouth and Brentford were underdogs in League Two.
  16. It was some time ago when I read much of the things Manchester City had been charged with, along with various threats from them about taking action over the FA. They seem to be able to avoid punishment, I am not sure the amount of money to them is a big thing. Which makes it not effective.
  17. Hugh Jackman might be more likely to favour Wolves.
  18. Life after a top class goalscorer will always be a difficult thing to navigate, but we do have goalscorers - even though I wished we would sign someone to breed further confidence. We need to keep in mind it took Macualay Langstaff some time to adjust and get his first EFL goal. Jatta has had a bedding in time from last season, which he has fully blossomed and should be fine to take our main striker position. The injuries are very common, most won't be serious and hopefully will become less as the season becomes under way. I think it's a very fair summary, which time will only tell. I don't see much concern about our pre-season; the starting XI looks strong. We just need to dig hard to make sure results go our way, if we can build on a good start then things should transform over time. Personally, I am more optimistic about the season, but these are potential concerns. Stuart Maynard is handling pressure of achieving good results and performances - against balancing those who want him to fail or have little faith in his ability. How the defence integrates into the squad. Life with Matty Palmer as the club captain and protecting him from further absence. Overcoming the challenges of a potentially tough beginning can be a daunting task. (Some fans refuse to give any time or accept draws).
  19. Air marked to watch. I did have it on when I stumbled across something which has been more pressing for me personally, but I do love the Magpie Circle and I will always sing praise for Paul Mace. I have stumbled across comments, which I think are unrealistic and somewhat unfair - such as saying certain questions should have been pressed. The club won't let Stuart Maynard speak freely, as they will want to protect him. This said, I do hope to catch it soon.
  20. I am sure all the coaching and management team are 100% behind the club and are trying their best to provide Stuart Maynard with important feedback. I think it's better that the technical area is no longer to be bombarded with players and staff. Not that it has stopped other clubs from doing this exact thing last season at Meadow Lane.
  21. 18-years-old, Nottingham born. Potential loan? I don't know enough about him to really comment on his quality, I know he's been a player that has been praised by Derby fans I know as being promising. We'll have to see how it plays out. Because I think it's more likely to be a loan, I can't see Derby allowing a youngster to leave for a fee.
  22. Fan Introduction Name: Joe Shillinglaw How long have you supported Tranmere Rovers? I have supported them since I was 11/12. Are you a season ticket holder? I used to have a season ticket but haven't renewed it this year due to working as a chef at weekends. Age? 25 Favourite Player? My favourite player is Lee O’Connor How do you think Tranmere Rovers performed in pre-season, and what are your expectations for the upcoming season? I think we’ve done very well in terms of transfers. A couple more signings could strengthen the squad. My expectation is definitely the playoffs, but I’d be happy with a top-ten finish. Pre-season results have been positive, with wins over Blackpool and Wigan. I think we would have struggled last season. Which players do you think will stand out for Tranmere against Notts County? Are there any new signings or young talents who have impressed you? Omari Patrick is a standout player. He’s quick and skilful. O’Connor can dictate play in midfield, and Luke Norris has looked great in pre-season. What are your thoughts on Nigel Adkins’ tactics and style of play? Do you think the current management team is the right fit for the club? His tactics are excellent. He’s a Premier League-level manager who has brought an exciting style of play to Tranmere. After a difficult start under Dawes, Adkins steadied the ship and secured a mid-table finish. We can’t thank him enough. What do you consider to be the team’s biggest strengths? Are there any areas where you think the team needs to improve? Our biggest strengths are undoubtedly Luke Norris, O’Connor, and Patrick. Defensively, we could be more solid, as we made some costly errors last season. How does this season compare to previous seasons in terms of optimism and excitement for the campaign ahead? Are there any past seasons or moments that you think are particularly significant for the club? The new signings have generated a lot of excitement. Connor Jennings’ 119th-minute winner against Newport to secure promotion is a standout moment. What made you become a Tranmere Rovers fan? Do you have any personal traditions or rituals related to supporting the team? I’m from Liverpool, but I started going to Tranmere matches with friends as a teenager and fell in love with the club. Which matches are you most looking forward to this season? How important are the matches against local rivals to you? I’m excited about the away game at Notts County as I live in Nottingham. Local derbies are always crucial. Three points against a rival is always satisfying. I’m also looking forward to visiting Chesterfield. Final comments from Chris The first game of any season is always a difficult game, preparing to face a team which has dramatically changed in the summer - with the addition of squad players. It naturally takes time for players to settle into a routine. Nigel Adkins will be seeing Notts' defence as an area to target but the strengthening of this area for the magpies' should make for a fair and entertaining game. Stuart Maynard still has many fans to win over; a good performance and a potential win might just be the start. The prediction for this would be a 1-1 draw, although either side could win it. 23. @liampie's comment is the approach the topic needs, as further comments only derail the discussion further. As I stated, I changed it to make things clearer. I didn't refer to it as clickbait, I changed it so that people wouldn't firstly become confused and secondly overlook the discussion. I wasn't aware the Portugal had a Jack Grealish look-a-like. I should have titled it as Liam did, that was an error on my part. I understand your frustration. As the author, you do have the right to make changes to your post. If you need assistance with deleting the topic, it might be helpful to reach out to a team member or report the topic for removal. Stating why, someone would happily assist but there really doesn't need to be a reason for that. Personally, I felt that the title needed to be a bit more descriptive. Which I have touched upon further before, let's work together to stir this discussion back on track.
  24. @Robbie I changed it, so it was clearer. ????
  25. I miss the days when Rangers would run away with the Scottish Premier League, at least then it was between them and Celtic.
