Harrogate's Luke Armstrong failed transfer to Wrexham
Honestly, I think they could find better options. I think Luke Armstrong is beneath FL standard and only tends to do well in teams where he's seen as an important player. Where there's better quality, he shows for the lack of standard.

Scouting Dossier : Notts v Wolves U21
Interesting call, I can't comment on him as I wasn't there and that wouldn't make sense or be fair. I do think with regard to Junior Morias we will have to wait to see him feature more, he's played very little and given less chance due to the injuries he's supposedly had. Hopefully, he can get up to pace because he looked promising.

Highlights : Notts v Wolves U21
Passing is remarkably poor, no effort made by some of the players to even try to retain it. There are two examples in the highlights where a pass had been made but due to the other playing recieving the ball being sluggish, a Wolves player picked it up with so much more urgancy. I also think Sam Slocombe's positioning for the first goal was very poor, but I must note that the sluggish approach even remained visable with our defending. Very poor from Notts.

Match Discussion: Game 8 - The Ammies (A)
I think Notts should be able to perform well against Salford, I think MK Dons are a better team on paper and if we can just pass the ball into space we should create chances. I am sure Salford won't make it easy, but I am hoping an early goal for us would settle the game down. This is my first visit to their ground. I am surprised they haven't put more effort into upgrading at least two of the stands, but I suppose seeing what others have said about them not having many of their own fans comes into it. It'll be interesting to see what those attending for Salford are like, if they're laid back and just there due to the hype or are passionate just as much as we are. I don't know. If they're lacking support, this may play into our hands and with our own support it could really lift Notts. I am hoping we can keep a clean sheet here. @Piethagoram Are you in the seated area?

MAGnet Links - Salford
The only one I can name, and I did hope you hadn't mentioned him, is Michael O'Connor.

Tranmere sack their manager
Ian Dawes seemed pretty clueless, their statement mentioned that he had them playing some good football. I haven't seen it so far this season, I think he was the wrong man for the position. His experience so far seems quite a lot down to luck. They may want to stick with Nigel Adkins until the end of the season if he is able to turn things around, then give the new manager a fresh start to make the needed changes.

Highlights : Franchise FC v Notts
Gabrial is a good guy; from a young age he's been working in media and providing his thoughts on football. I think whilst Rawlinson certainly made a poor call, he wasn't completely to blame and even if he followed the player who had the ball - who's to say he would have made the ground or that he wouldn't be blamed for making that call, had their scorer passed?

Weekend Plans - Friday 8th - Sunday 10th September
Saturday was a nice visit by @super_ram, who joined me to watch the game via the frustrating live stream. At least for the first half, it was really nice to have him over, and I also loosely joined him watching the England game. Afterwards, I walked Super back to his and stayed for a little bit, but I had food on, so I couldn't overstay my welcome. Sunday, I slept for awhile (I can't help it, I felt like I had been shot) and I did stuff on here. I almost wrote I didn't remember, which I didn't until Kate told me.

A view on Rawlinson...
I really think there's a time and place for Connell, however there are things we can do to limit the aspects of his defending which can be caught out. The inconsistencies in things like this sometimes baffles me, as I remember when Enzio Boldewijn was labelled lazy. People, including some of the former managers, defended him. Whilst some fans took it too far. There's no excuse or reason why Enzio couldn't defend and towards the end of his time I do feel he made significant improvements. My point then was that we defend and attack as a team, where Enzio was just a luxury player that I always did feel we would improve further without him at the club. This doesn't mean I didn't like him or appreciate him as a person. It's similar to how I felt about how we relied heavily on Cal Roberts. Making him our focal point of a threat, made predictable and less creative elsewhere. Yet the point here, I need to make, is that Rawlinson does have a role to play. He's a good player, who has a lot of heart and does prove his worth more than he makes mistakes. It's just that for me his mistakes get picked up on by some of those fans who take to criticising our players too far. It then persuades more and then, before you know, few people see that it's all about how to get the best out of players we have until their contracts end. I personally think we need to be tighter, avoiding 'man marking' and just zonal mark or have some recovery style tactics where capable players look for the gaps which hasn't been picked up. There will be games Rawlinson's height and physical approach will give us strength. Whilst we lack the cover trusted to come in, we need to figure out how he can do what he does, without worrying about his pace. Defend as a team, just like we win as one.

Match Discussion: EFL Trophy - The Wanderers U21 (H)
The game will be interesting to see for a few points, but I will openly state as I always do that I hope we focus more on the league. I do want to see a good cup run, but the League and FA Cup have more priority in my eyes. It disappointed me when Notts pulled out of the FA stating that they wanted to focus on the league, yet took this far too seriously. Who will feature in the starting Notts XI How they will perform against Wolves under 21s How good so far unseen players do, such as Will Randall, Junior Morias, Ollie Tipton etc. What the attendance will be like considering a large number of fans still don't care about this cup I fully expect Sam Slocombe to go into the team, along with all the unseen signings fo far. If we don't give Junior Morias a run out here, I really will wonder what the point of signing him is considering we've seen him warm up for two games now, yet not to come on.

Germany sack their head coach
Just nine months into the job, how the mighty Germans have fallen. TBH, they're a nation that tends to have bad years because they rely too much on those who have experience without giving many younger players a fresh chance to establish themselves. They go in cycles where they have great upcoming players, but they do nothing with them. I think they should find a stronger manager, that will balance things out for them again.
-
Wrexham sign Steven Fletcher
He's still got quality, but it reminds me of when we brought in older players to the experience of younger upcoming players. I don't think it's a bad signing, if I were a Wrexham supporter I would be like 'meh' about the signing. I don't think it's fair to be critical of him before he's played several games. I personally would have thought Wrexham would have tried to bring in some of the players from the National League that did well against them, along with the experience they've added.

Juventus v Notts ...12 years ago today
I was on holiday at Skegness, we had tried several pubs, but most outright refused to put the game on. I'll leave this for @super_ram to clarify this area, but it did seem daft that TVs which had the capacity of showing something else would get refused. Especially in quiet areas where nobody else is, but that's some pubs for you. My mum really wanted to see the game and I were rushing around pushing her wheelchair between @cheeky~k8 and my dad. We ended up going to Churchill's, where they agreed to put the game on for us. The bar staff were joking at times about turning it off, which is banter my mum would never refuse to tell them off for saying. It was funny. I know, one of them was actually a Forest fan who at times I recall the other staff member telling him off for watching the game! ???? Quite a few others who were Notts fans joined us. The ceremony did take forever, but it was amazing. I imagine being their live it would have been a lot more impressive.

Match Discussion: Game 7 - The Dons (A)
@Joshua: I do wish we had a few more tries but managed to hit the target, whilst he may save ones straight to him. Higher up, or into the corners of the goal, he would have struggled a lot more. He's not a keeper I would hope to see between our sticks, yes he can save close up shots and is fairly okay in the air. Distance is a weakness, I know some don't think Sam Slocombe is good with corners, but those are areas you should expect better from your defenders.

Charlie Slater interviews Macca whilst playing padel board
Unfortunately, no. I mean for clarity, I wasn't one of these fans who complained he had covered Mansfield and held that against him when he first started. It's just very rarely do I think I could stand listening to him for more than a few minutes. I stopped listening to coverage because of him. I did like his banter and interactions with Mark Stallard but if anything, it was Stall winning over in that department. Everyone has a character they dislike like this, usually it's me. ????????????

Charlie Slater interviews Macca whilst playing padel board
I think this is a good example why I struggle to take Charlie Slater seriously: it's funny and different. The interview itself is decent, but Charlie just comes across rather annoyingly. His questions, whilst I get they were aimed to not be answered and added to the quirkiness just becomes a stretching chalkboard to my ears. It's good that he has the confidence to do this sort of thing, but his swagger is another reason why I have always struggled to like him. This part is perhaps the harshest, but I am so glad he's moved on from doing our coverage.

Match Discussion: Game 7 - The Dons (A)
Great goal by the Skipper, I don't mean Lewis. I mean KYLE CAMERON!!! 1-1 MK Dons are doing everything in their power to slow the game down, including violent conduct where for no reason - I believe it was Aden Baldwin who was grabbed. Just their way of trying to regroup but from what I saw and in the reply, he should have been sent off (or at least a yellow). It looked like he hit out.

Match Discussion: Game 7 - The Dons (A)
I'm watching the game here at mine with @super_ram, our stream is buffering every 5 seconds. I hope it's not the same for everyone else, although I have tried everything to make the connection stable - Ethernet is connected, really should be fine. Now I see flashing numbers in various locations, as if someone is testing something. It's a bit jarring but Notts seems to be doing okay. MK Dons' attacking prowess is truly impressive as well. Just lacking in the final third. 0-0, so far.

Salif Keita: How Mali's 'Black Panther' became a pioneering icon
@super_ram: One of the greatest, I think I would put him above Pele, but I would put Messi and Ronaldo above him too. The latter player has done interviews in the past where he's spoken highly of EusΓ©bio as being one of the players that inspired him with his own journey. Having seen old world cup recap shows with my dad, I know EusΓ©bio was a classy player.

Neal Bishop steps down at Gainsborough
I think they probably mutually agreed on it, with Neal Bishop most likely saying that he wanted to step down. The tweet is probably written by an elderly person who thinks the cap lock makes it more readable. It does seem as if there's more to it, but I doubt that is the case. Bishop is very level-headed when it comes to football and I can't see him leaving without respect for the club. @DangerousSausage I doubt he's been tapped up, though you are quite likely right that he's decided to pursue something else. Also, I have never heard of the photographer. He seems like some random guy. ????????

An important reminder for you all
@DangerousSausage: please remember to update this very important announcement on Sunday, provided the things go well.

RIP Ian Hamilton
He was very good at West Brom, I remember his time there quite well. It's saddening to see he died only 55, that is horrible. Rest in Peace, Ian Hamilton.
