  1. You’ll probably notice your neighbours starting to fill up paddling pools, spray down their cars, and give their gardens a good soaking with the hose. It’s typical really – people don’t stop to think about what it means when water levels start to drop. I’d felt things had been quite pleasant lately, especially after the last spell of intense heat. But if people carry on wasting water without a second thought, things could quickly become much harder to cope with. It’s not about pointing fingers, but there’s a real need to be considerate. When water’s scarce, using it carelessly makes life tougher for everyone.
  2. Notts County did ask if they could provide accommodation for some of Ricardo’s players when they joined the club. It was meant to help them settle in during the early stages of their time here. Partick Thistle might struggle financially to offer the same kind of support. Signing players and housing them, even for a short while, can be expensive. Offering temporary accommodation might be a way to make the club more appealing to players. If they feel supported from the start, they may be more willing to join.
  3. Such awful news. My thoughts are with those who have passed. May they both rest in peace.
  4. Transfermarkt lists him mainly as a left winger, but he can also play attacking midfield and on the right. Sounds like the sort of player Notts might take a chance on. Not sure if the limit is two or three overseas players. If it’s three, there’s a bit of wiggle room, and that could open the door for him. A signing like that might even hint at a change in formation, or maybe it’s about having players who can switch roles mid-game to keep things fresh.
  5. Make it a three-year stint then, Ricardo. Best of luck to him out at AS Trenčín, hope it works out for the him.
  6. The Lower TiersEXCLUSIVE: Notts County Exploring Move For Sylvester Jasp...Notts County pursue ŚlΔ…sk WrocΕ‚aw winger Sylvester Jasper, facing European competition to sign the 23-year-old London-born left-wing talentI only put faith in official sources and PON, but I’m still curious what others make of it all. Could there actually be something in it, or is it just another name thrown into the mix for the sake of it? The rumour mill reckons he’s signing in the next few days, so it’ll be interesting to see if it gathers any proper traction.
  7. Glad to see Sam Slocombe is staying with the club. I do wonder if the club realises just how critical some fans have been of him as a player. It’s always puzzled me how quickly supporters can turn on someone like him. I wish him all the best in his new role, and I hope those same fans don’t start having a go at him now he’s a coach.
  8. Pleased with the fixture list overall. There are a few clashes with Forest, but these could be avoided if we’re marked as unavailable on those dates before the schedule is finalised. The opening part of the season looks promising and should give us a decent start.
  9. As mentioned, I haven't been to a cinema for years. It's been a long time, that's for sure. I never really liked the one in the city centre. Losing the old Odeon and cinemas on the outskirts left me feeling uninterested. People are much rowdier these days. While it can be fun to watch a film in a room full of strangers, it can also ruin the experience. Good luck finding suggestions.
  10. Signing Ollie Norburn presents a mixed bag of prospects for Notts. On one hand, his track record speaks volumes about his ability to influence play positively from the midfield. On the other, with so many options already available, it’s unclear how he will be integrated into the team structure. The injury concerns are real, but with proper management, they shouldn’t pose too much of a hurdle. It's exciting to think of the defensive robustness and the strategic depth he adds to the squad. Competition within the team, while healthy, must be managed astutely by the coaching staff to harness maximum efficiency.
  11. Last time I was in Germany, the food and beer were affordable, and the football was entertaining, even in the lower leagues. I need to check my dates, but one of the two friendlies might be possible.
  12. Thank you for getting in touch by email. I am really pleased with how the Pride of Nottingham is improving, and the revamp looks excellent. I am very impressed by the effort from everyone involved. It’s great to see features returning, and the news ticker is a helpful way to highlight important updates.
  13. Rest in Peace, Brian Wilson. The Beach Boys music will be quite a legacy to leave behind.
  14. Dan Crowley to become the club's saviour by being a player-manager? It guarantees his name on the team sheet, and he can't do much worse.
  15. Maynard's openness about the team's challenges is appreciated. Colchester is in great form and their defence will be tough, but we can find gaps. It's good to have Platt and Abbott back, as depth is crucial. Crowley's return will boost our creativity. Fans' support at Meadow Lane can lift the team. With unity and focus, we can get a result against Colchester
  16. Enjoy your birthday, Neil! Thanks for giving Notts fans so much to cheer about!
  17. I’m optimistic about our chances against Peterborough, but we’ll need to be much better defensively than we were last time out. They’ve got players who can punish any lapses, so staying switched on for the full 90 minutes is a must. Offensively, I’d like to see us use the flanks more effectively, crosses into the box could be our best bet. It’s also a great opportunity for our squad to show they can compete with teams from a higher division. I’m hoping Dan Crowley is fit because his energy and creativity could be a game-changer. Regardless of the outcome, this is a match to look forward to!
  18. It’s hard not to feel a bit emotional thinking about Alan Judge. He was brilliant for us, and you could see his love for the game every time he played. That energy and drive were infectious, it lifted the whole team and the fans. Watching him move to Brentford was bittersweet because we lost a great player, but he went on to prove himself at a higher level. The leg break was devastating, though, and I don’t think he ever truly recovered his form after that.
  19. Jatta’s growth since joining in January has been amazing to watch. His ability to handle defenders and his knack for finding the net are unmatched. But beyond that, what’s really impressive is his mindset. He talks about working hard and setting goals, and he’s not shy to admit that his teammates make him better. It’s not often you see a forward give so much credit to the team around him. His bond with the fans, especially when he collected the flag, shows he values the support. Looking forward to seeing him thrive with The Gambia and come back to give his all for Notts.
  20. Welcome to the community here on PON, @Bren Shep. It would be great to see you joining in with the discussions.
  21. Aside from the goal, I thought Jacob Bedeau handled Port Vale very well. He was one of the main reasons they didn’t score more. Not that they could make do with the open net opportunity.
  22. It’s refreshing to hear a manager talk about the importance of every player, not just the stars. Maynard’s belief in squad depth is crucial, especially as the season progresses. It’s clear that he has instilled a strong sense of unity in the team, which is evident in how they play together on the pitch. If we can keep this momentum going, there’s no telling how far we can go this season. I hope the lads can handle the pressure against Port Vale, they’re a tough team. Let's get those three points!
  23. Maynard deserves credit for the way he's shaping this team. He’s got them playing with a mix of flair and resilience, something that was evident in the victory over Carlisle. Jatta and Robertson returning and immediately making an impact is a testament to the depth and quality in this squad. Defensive efforts, especially Bass's crucial save, were outstanding. The support from the fans was also incredible, making their presence felt throughout the match. It's performances like these that build momentum and confidence going forward.
  24. Carlisle United could feel unlucky. They played much better than Morecambe but found us very resilient in defence. They were poor on goal but good at moving the ball forward. When was the last time we had less possession than our opponents? It says a lot, as we usually dominate possession. It was great to see Jatta back, even better when he scored the opening goal. Scott Robertson was also very good, and we missed his presence in previous games. Winning 2-0, despite the chances they created, was a good night for us.
  25. One thing is for sure, Notts need to attack as a team in the first half and not wait until the second to produce the goods. I am sure the Gillingham defeat has been frustrating for the players, as would conceding early against Morecambe. This is another tough task on paper and we need to play at our best. I wouldn’t change anything defensively, other than perhaps including Kellan Gordon. I think in midfield, if Scott Robertson is fit, allow him to partner Matt Palmer and give George Abbott a chance to impact the team from the bench. I fully expect David McGoldrick and Dan Crowley to start. I don’t see Jevani Brown starting as I think Maynard sees him as a good attacking option for the bench.
