Has anyone managed to record any goals to he used in Goal of the Month?

Been after a Notts retro shirt for a while but everytime I've gone to order one, they've sold out. But the other day they were put back in stock and before they sold out I ordered one. The 1993 Home Bitter shirt, one of the ones I wanted back in stock. Today the shirt arrived but it's having to go straight back due to the size being on the small side for me. When it comes to T-Shirts, I usually get XXL but in football shirts I go for an XL and they fit perfectly fine. Anyone else had any size issues? At least I kind of know for next time I may need a size or 2 up.

@Nocturnal-Magpie I reckon he could be their new number 1. They've had one or 2 GKs go out recently.

@super_ram all you have to do these days is go on reality shows as an average joe and come out as someone with high celeb status. There are some shows these days that still have genuine celebs but valid point regarding Parkinson.

@super_ram the world's gone crazy these days on what they deem a celebrity though. If you are "TikTok famous" or a YouTuber/Streamer, you're deemed a celebrity. Which personally I don't think that's what a celebrity is.

@CliftonMagpie The thing that gets me, as I mentioned in the post, is that they could do the most basic human thing possible then media and fans alike jump on it. Sometimes I sympathise with them just like footballers as they can't do anything without being in the public eye but sometimes they lap it up for attention, as you say. I don't mind stories about Celebs that actually benefit causes.

I've kept my eye on Vigouroux for a few seasons now and what I've seen from him, I've been really impressed. Stepping up to the Premier League is a big step but moving to a newly promoted Burnley side might be a good move. Speaks volumes about his ability when he's been voted Orients player of the season 3 years in a row. That's impressive considering he's a goalkeeper.

@Chris You're right comparisons are fun talking points as there are ways of comparing players but factors must come in to play. As you have compared Scholes, Gerrard and Lampard, it's a fair comparison that you've laid out as there's context and thought behind it. But when people use the whole "Gerrard never won the Premier League" as a way of ruling him out of the debate is where the comparison becomes void because you can't base a players career and ability on team performances. As the saying goes "1 players doesn't make a team but he can make a difference" and that's what Gerrard did. Had it not been for Gerrard, Liverpool wouldn't have achieved what they did. Especially in 2005 against AC Milan. He single handedly dragged Liverpool back from 3-0 down and got them that UCL. Then, if they decide to go down the route of team performances, take Lampard and Scholes out of their clubs that they had success with and trophies they won would Chelsea and Man United have still gone on to win those things? Quite possibly cause they both had great players. 100% agree with this many pundits like Gary Lineker also mention this when talking Sven. Plus add in the fact that England at that time was divided with the club rivalry that was going on behind closed doors which didn't help matters. Sven never found a way to get Lampard, Scholes, Gerrard and Beckham working as a super midfield that on paper it should have been. This is another comparison that is subjective to factors. It's a great debate and can go either way but when things get thrown in about Ronaldo at the age of 21 compared to Messi at the age of 21 is incomparable as Messi was at Barca with the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Ronaldinho etc. While Ronaldo was coming from Sporting to trying to make it in the Premier League with Man United. There's a big difference. But as you said when they were in La Liga the comparison becomes a level playing field then up for debate. I do get the whole point of comparisons to add to the team but when it comes to transferring players, there's more of an assessment in the comparisons as they compare playing styles for how they'd fit in the team as you said. There's ways of comparing players and then there's comparisons that need to have factors taken in to account.

@Chris Without doubt mate. He found a way to deal with everything thrown at him which let him be his true self. I agree, he could be a comedian in another. I listen to both his podcasts and they're unbelievably good to listen to. He's such a genuine, funny guy and that's why he's so adored by many. All 3 football documentaries I've watched on Amazon (Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney and Peter Crouch) have all been tremendous. Gonna have to watch more I reckon.

Celebrities are always in the public eye and everything they do gets captured and ate up by the media and fans. But sometimes it can be the simplest things they do, that the average person might do on a regular basis. The fact that they say "they're just like us". I get people being big fans but they're still humans just like the rest of us and will do human things that we all enjoy. I remember Tom Cruise going to a restaurant and ordering 2 curries, which doesn't seem like a big deal as some average Joe's may do that regularly, but difference is it's actually benefitted and helped a business to gain more customers. Is there any celebrity news stories anyone else has seen that you just thought like well what am I supposed to do with that sort of information or why is it even news worthy?

@Joshua couldn't do the blind boxes myself, if you could have a selected few teams that are guaranteed then maybe. I can understand why people do it and it does look like fun collecting kits not knowing what's gonna come out but personally it has to be a team I like and not random, irrelevant of how nice the kit looks. I'm gonna keep my eyes out for more definitely.

Since it was announced that Peter Crouch was having a film documentary made about him on Amazon Prime, I couldn't wait to give it a watch. Although it came out on Thursday, I've got round to watching it tonight and it was fantastic. Crouchy has had one incredible journey in Football. A lesser man would have folded with the stick he had to endure throughout his career. So for him to overcome everything that was thrown out him to becoming one of the most popular likeable entertaining characters of all time is something to be applauded. 100% recommend watching this if you get the chance. It's a terrific watch.

That's a player comparison that can be used basing them on similar positions to assess whether or not they'd be a worthwhile signing to improve a squad or whether you already have better already there. Although, it could be useful for them to be a decent back up option. However, like @TheSkippermentioned, leagues can also be a factor. We've seen many stars come from places like Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga etc with huge expectations, high numbers and be compared to some of the best in Europe only to flop when entering the Premier League. It's also about how a player plays in a teams system when comparing. If you have a player that bags 30+ goals in a season with their team playing football like Man City, they might not get that many opportunities or suit playing in a team that likes to pump the ball long. So playing styles of clubs and players also plays a part in comparisons.

@CliftonMagpie some were properly worn so needed to be thrown out but there was one or 2 that could have been kept hold of tbf. But, my lad also had a few kits that got to small for him although I have saved a couple of them for memories sake.

In Football, especially in todays game, whenever a player breaks records or achieves great things both at club and International level they're immediately compared to players of the past but is it really fair to compare players from different eras? Players also shouldn't be compared based on trophies their club has or hasn't won. Type of pitches and defending styles are a factor. Take Messi and Maradona for example. Maradona played in an era where players would hack him down and grass ripped up at his feet while dribbling yet he made it look easy. Messi on the other hand has played on much better playing surfaces and tough tackling isn't approved of much these days but the defenders have become more technical and fitter than they were back in Maradona's day. Players and Managers that they work alongside also play a factor. Take the Lampard, Gerrard and Scholes debate for example. Gerrard played alongside a lot lesser players than Scholes and Lampard did. Gerrard not winning the Premier League is often the go to answer for many to rule him out of the running but would he have won it had he moved to Chelsea or United? Would Lampard or Scholes won what Gerrard did had they played for Liverpool? I'm sure we all have our own opinions on which of the 3 is better but it should be a comparison on the individual player rather than trophies won. Milan Baros won more Champions Leagues than Ibrahimovic but I wouldn't say he was better than him Another player that fits into this factor is Harry Kane. Since becoming England's all time leading goalscorer he has drawn comparison to previous players like Wayne Rooney and even Jimmy Greaves. Don't get me wrong what Kane has achieved is sensational and deserves all the credit for being there to get as many goals as he has for England. Not to mention he's just the second Englishman to win a golden boot at the World Cup joining Gary Lineker. However, Wayne Rooney played in a time where the golden generation was coming to an end, England began declining and the players being called up for England was questionable at times. Not much in terms of star quality. He played in a time that England failed to qualify for Euro 2008, had a dismal 2010 and 2014 World Cup before making his final tournament appearance at Euro 2016 which ended in humiliation against Iceland. Then there's Jimmy Greaves. 44 goals in 57 games for England is an outstanding record but during his time the Euros was only limited to just 4 teams meaning less games for him to add to his tally. Rooney may have more England goals had he played in todays England squad. Kane might have even been more clinical playing in Rooney's era. Greavsie could have had more England goals if there were more games available. Player comparisons are all part of football and will always happen but there are these type of factors that play a part when comparing them. What do you guys think? Are player comparisons subjective or do they hold credit?

@Joshua the first 2 ghostbusters are brilliant films. Not seen any of the new ones. I don't like films that don't feel like the originals. The Wrong House was a good film to watch. Things like Resident Evil and Final Destination are also good ones to watch. Another good one to watch is The Hole. Watched it in 3d as the dvd came with 3d glasses, only watched it twice but a while back so don't remember much about it but I do know it made for a good watch.

@AmericanPie funny story about Nightmare on Elm Street. My brothers are all 10+ years older than me and they often babysat me and my sister. One night they thought it'd be funny to "scare me" by letting me watch Nightmare on Elm Street at the age of 7 but I wasn't fazed by it. They told me not to tell my mum and dad but being a kid I was just too excited to tell them about a man named Freddy Krueger. My brothers got a real good telling off Great film though enjoyed it Still need to watch Blair Witch Project heard many good things about it. Horror Films aren't my go to choice of film but I don't mind watching them, they don't really bother me too much.

@AmericanPie Whenever we nip in to a charity shop or go on carboot sales, I'm always on the look out for them but it's always my look that when I find one they're always either a size too small or there's a reason they're being rid of I'll certainly be adding to them as time goes on. Quite often check ebay or for sales to go on like JD Sport, Sports Direct, Kitbag or Classic Football Shirts. I prefer the Lionesses kits in recent years as opposed to the Men's.

@MagpieLane I agree with the broader black and white stripes will give it a better look but personally I'd love to see a collar as an addition too. Think shirts look much better with a collar. @B&Wstripes would take either of these designs, they'd look fantastic for Notts!

@RetroPie Great minds think alike and all that, 98 is a great shirt. Been after the 94 top for a while now bidded for it on ebay but had no luck went for £50+ I think it was. Always on the look out for it. @OoooooTommy That's a hell of a collection/accumulation of shirts you have tbf. Good idea keeping them folded up and zipped away for safe keeping. Got to be done wearing an England shirt whenever they play.

Must admit, there are England tops that I now regret getting rid of. Some were too small and I had outgrown them but then there were others that, due to playing football, had AstroTurf stains on them that just never ever came out. One or 2 were in good condition but others weren't salvageable as they were years old and got some use out of them. But hopefully one day, I'll once again have some of them back as retro shirts. Might even find them at bargain prices, there's plenty of sites out there making a killing on old shirts these days bound to find them somewhere.

@TheSkipper Totally understandable. The prices are extortionate. Only got 2 red ones in my wardrobe now. One from 2014, which I got on sale for £10 couldn't not turn it down, and the 1990 one that completed the 90 collection. The best red one in my opinion is the reversible from 2002 World Cup. Unfortunately I've had to get rid of quite a few over the years. My wife was glad when I got rid of a few as she wasn't a fan that I had so many football tops

@BlackandWhitePie Which shirts the lucky shirt and what makes it so lucky? I agree you don't need a shirt to support them, whenever tournaments come around they often have Polo tops and such which is another thing I always get for tournaments for both me and the kids. Will admit the 2016 Euros polo top I had got thrown away following the horror of the Iceland game, as nice as the top was. It's nice to get both home and away but I'm much like yourself getting both home and away until recently. I think the last time I got a new England top was actually in 2018. Before that it was around 2014. The Lionesses kits in recent years have been absolutely sensational. The latest kits they'll be wearing at the World Cup are incredible. They're tempting to purchase but again still cost a fortune.
