  1. Yeah, very good little interview that. Very Partridge with the "he's used to putting the ball in the net" comment over footage of Macaulay hitting the padel ball into it ????
  2. The one and only Jude Stirling. I Think he was bought in for his DJ'ing skills, and who says the club wasn't run well all those years ago? ????
  3. I'm pretty sure it's another international break so with no Premier League or Championship fixtures they've got no choice really. Although I'm sure they'd just be happier with more Prem highlights if they could get away with it! I actually think BT did a good job of covering the National League, they had a game on every weekend with one in the week too for midweek fixtures. So far this season there's been no League 2 game broadcast (correct me if I'm wrong), they are showing Bradford v Grimsby tomorrow but considering they've got the rights for EFL games it's pretty poor. The only positive is it's good for us fans as we aren't messed around with different games times every other week!
  4. I notice on an MK Forum they’re already doubting Alexander’s appointment; We went 1-0 up and it all looked good, and I have to confess I was confident we would go onto win, but we just stopped playing and Crewe grew ever more confident. Gone was the confident passing and the high press and in came a lost shape and no apparent game plan and panic-stricken players just booting it long to nobody, but we shouldn’t be shocked we’ve seen it several times this season already, and according to Salford and Motherwell fans this is so the Alexander way. You genuinely wouldn’t think they’re second in the league, most of their fans think they’re lucky to be there. They seem to think they start fast and play well for the first 30 minutes. So if we survive that we could well be on our way to anther 3 points. If one of or even all three of Mo Eisa, Jonathan Leko and Matthew Dennis are out that will undoubtedly help us. One thing I think impacts us though is the weather, could be positive, could be a negative. Are we going to be able to press effectively when it’s nearly 30°c? Will it be off the pace and therefore end up leaving big gaps to play through. Or will we be able to just keep the ball, tire them out and cause them to leave gaps? I notice we’ve got Chris Kavanagh as the ref, so we’ll see how much better a so-called top official is!
  5. Yeah I certainly wouldn't consider Notts to be a slow team. I wonder how they measure and contextualise this. Is it purely to do with long-balls? The Notts team I watch are aggressive, run hard and attack teams whilst trying to dominate the ball!
  6. Considering some of the prices for players like Rice and Caicedo which were super over-priced I don’t think the fee (in the current football market*) is that surprising. He scored 8 goals for a team that last season struggled. Now he’s in a better team, no disrespect to Forest, there’s no reason why he couldn’t get 15 goals if he played regularly. * I hate how we rationalise this – it’s just a way of accepting billionaires spending. So yeah in terms of not getting top flight economics, it’s in a real mess. Just looking at it from a real-life point of view it’s an obscene amount of money, only in football terms could 45 million pounds be spoken about like it’s a couple of hundred quid. At the end of the day they are just people who are good at football, I appreciate they are assets to clubs in same way stock is to a business but they shouldn’t be worth that much. Something needs to be done about these constant increases, the Saudi investment is now taking everything to another level and it’s just going to spiral and get worse until someone (I’m looking at you FIFA/UEFA/The FA) steps in and starts putting proper salary and spending caps in place. I’d love it happen, but I’m sceptical it ever will.
  7. Madness, 6 games in, I know they've invested quite a bit in their squad but things take time to click. Yeah, I agree with @Chris Eastleigh makes more sense to me given he's London based. Enzio and McDonnell there too, a bit of a reunion maybe?
  8. Not good and gutting for him. It doesn’t sound as bad as Baj’s but I don’t think we’ll be seeing him until the new year. We’re not short of attacking options, just need to get Morias and Randall up to speed now.
  9. Great for him, from a purely selfish Notts point of view it's a shame he's missing the MK Dons game as they're strong opposition. Hopefully he'll be back for Salford away though.
  10. Those are some very promising stats and he's obviously playing well right now but I don't know enough about the quality of the League of Ireland to know how impressive they truly are though. We had a striker, Andre Wright, on trial a few seasons ago after he did well in that league but he didn't do enough to earn himself a contract I seem to remember Vit Jaros getting rave reviews from St Patricks fans and he was just decent, nothing particularly special. Some fans seem to think a big CB like this will answer all our problems, he'd certainly aid us in defending balls into our box but he's got to be better than just your head it/kick it style CB. We ask a lot of our defenders on the ball and he'll spend more time out the box then in it so he'll need to have a decent turn of pace otherwise, given his seemingly good areal ability, he'll be exploited in that way. In terms of the transfer happening, given he's out of contract in a few months and there's only 8 games of their season left, I'm really surprised they've turned our bids down. They must be confident they can get him to renew at the end of the season.
  11. Love it. I've not heard of him before but just from a quick look over his work this morning he's a really talented artist. Painting that panorama style is tricky and mastering proportions in drawing/painting isn't easy. The fact he did that over the course of the game (and probably a bit extra at end to finish off) is supremely impressive.
  12. Charlton is a proper nut-house at the moment, I thought they solved their ownership issues from a few years ago when they were finally sold by Duchâtelet (anyone remember their fans lobbing stress balls onto the pitch in protest). But it seems to have somehow got worse, this season’s owners are the fourth in under 5 years! That’s crazy. I had a look at the previous appointments there, 5 permanent mangers in 2 years should be enough to put him off too!
  13. I think players know straight away if it's a bad one, Bajrami made no attempt to play on after his. Scott did try to carry on, and was able to move on it although he struggled. I'm hopeful it isn't going to be a long-term injury, maybe just a few weeks.
  14. That really shouldn’t have been so stressful at the end. We could’ve thrown that away in the last 10, they had a couple of really good chances. That said, we could’ve scored another too! I thought we deserved to win the game, we created enough chances to win a couple of games there. Issue was we fluffed so many of them, we could’ve (and should’ve) been a 4-0 up before they scored. No idea how Macca didn’t score, there was that manic couple of minutes after Didzy opened the scoring when he had a hatful of chances. I was impressed with how sharp we looked, a real slickness to our play at times. We controlled the game, until the last 15 minutes really, the mass changes just disrupted us a bit. And then Scott having to limp off gave them a boost. Glad we held on though, maybe just make the 4 subs next week!
  15. I’d actually be surprised if we didn’t sign anyone. But because we’ve added Tipton (and given Brinds promising start at CB) I think we’re more likely to sign a defensive midfielder, probably someone who can fill-in in defence if needed. I say this because I think that’s what Bajrami’s role would’ve been this season. He played most of pre-season in midfield and there again vs Lincoln. To me that suggests it was more likely he’d play in midfield this season. Problem is though trying to find a hybrid player, and a good one, like Bajrami isn't easy.
  16. When I saw the team sheet my first thought was that’s brave. I thought we'd overloaded it with attackers but it worked, a great win. Langstaff unlucky not to get a hat-trick by all accounts, the first of many for the season I'm sure. Shame we conceded right at the end, not going to stop my celebrations, but I’m sure LW will be annoyed with it! Also I see Morecambe beat Bradford City 3-0, one of the teams expected to challenge for top-spot, so that turned out to be a very good away point. A good week for Notts!
  17. I’ll take an away point, promising things and equally some bits we need to improve upon. Starting with the good, Stone looked very comfortable on the ball and was happy playing outside his own box. Nemane is looking like he’ll be a big threat to teams with his pace in behind as will Jones with his crossing, they were our main threats. A clean sheet is always a good thing, the defence has taken a bit of bashing by some so yesterday should be a real confidence boost. We were dominate on the ball, made 600 passes but only had 9 shots. Morecambe made 130 and had 13 shots. I know shots doesn’t account for dangerous crosses/opportunities and nearly getting a toe on them moments, but both sides had a few of them. It’s great we’ve carried on from last season in terms of style, but the criticism after that game, given the amount of ball we had, was failure to create openings. I agree with others on here that Morecambe could’ve been got at more, we just needed a bit more sharpness and cohesion with the runs and passing. Quicker passing at times too. I think over the course of a long season we’ll create more as teams start to tire the chances will open up, right now everyone is fresh so the patient wait for gaps approach is not as effective.
  18. Luke Williams said he got his team back today and I agree with him. We started ok, dealt with Grimsby’s press better than Sutton’s (first goal aside). I thought we dominated the first half, but at the same time until the latter stages we didn’t create much. Once we scored, we grew in confidence and I thought we'd see another goal, not for Grimsby though! Really frustrating to go in at HT 2-1 down yes it was a good ball over for their second but the awareness and reactions from our defenders has to be a lot better. Pleased that we started the second half really positively and got the goals quite quickly. A great header from Crowley who looked really quality on the ball at times today. And then we saw the game out pretty comfortably. Still think we’re a defender short, given it was makeshift back three right at the end. I was impressed with Brinds in the middle of the three but that game suited him against the smaller attackers like Rose and Eisa. Not sure I’d have felt confident with him against a big ol’ unit striker. Apparently, Fisher was in the stands, just curious or potentially signing? Who knows but I’m not sure we actually need him. I’d rather see a player like Debrah personally. Great to get a home win at the first time of asking, I feel reassured that with these players we can compete at this level.
  19. I'd go with @Ohh Tommy Johnson's team too. I'd back those 12 to beat Grimsby's 11! ???? Grimsby are yet to score so that gives me a bit of hope going into this game. Hopefully we can avoid a hat-trick of red cards.
  20. Terrible news, I was hopeful it wouldn't be too bad as he was able to walk back around to the tunnel. If the recovery goes well maybe we'll see him back before the end of the season, I hope so anyway.
  21. Jamie Forrester, I did have to check but I knew he'd played for numerous clubs before us and Grimsby was one of them.
  22. Maybe the Mullin injury is more serious than they imagined, why would you spend a big chunk of money to replace someone for a month or two otherwise? He’s a great player for them but that’s what squads are for, would be a real vote of no confidence to the likes of Dalby and Waters if they sign someone for a month and then Mullin is back!
  23. Colombia on Saturday now, having already beaten Germany they certainly won't be fearing us. Having watched a bit of them I'd expect they'll approach the game similarly to Nigeria, they'll be physical against us and try and take the ball off us with a press. Lauren James will be a big miss, scored some cracking goals already, but there are some good replacements in the likes of Toone or England.
  24. I get what you’re saying but I’m sure deep down if we won 3-0 and convincingly, you’ll be happy and it’ll help ease some nerves about the season ahead. I actually want to see a reaction, prove Saturday was a one off and go and show everyone what they’re really capable of. I’ll be more annoyed if we lose and concede 4 or 5 again.
  25. A 4-year extension, woo-hoo! I will be amazed if he’s still here in 2027 but I guess it’ll have upped his release fee as well as his wages. A little sweetener after the result at the weekend. Also Scott’s deal is up at the end of the year, get that one as the Xmas present as per Palmer last season!
